Who will become Top Chef? and who will be told to "pack up your knives, and go"?
Wow! Heather spits out the word 'Asian' like it is a rotten piece of meat in her mouth. The condescension she spews towards Beverly is gross. Knowing how successful Beverly Kim is now is great.
From the Top Chef subreddit:
I worked with Beverly irl and she is an amazing human being. Real hard working, humble, and quiet the quiet badass.
When I met her, she was pretty much blacklisted from Chicago kitchens after she sued Charlie Trotter for atrocious exploitation (not paying fair wages/overtime). Let me tell you when I say this was like going after the mob, to come for Charlie. The chicago fine dining community circled the wagons, shunned her, and talked smack about her up and down.
To see her now turn all of that, and the bullying on Top Chef, into a Michelin star and two successful restaurants? She is an incredible woman; it takes guts, nerve, and a spine of steel to do what she’s done.
Only here to say Beverly did not deserve this! I HATED how Sarah and Heather bullied her. Thankfully, her career has flourished! She won a Michelin star and a James Beard award for her cooking.
She should have won.
YES, we all read that @4:04.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Agreed!
"Bev I'm sorry if you think I hurt your feelings." What a terrible apology from an utterly horrible woman
She comes in second to Jamie. She LEFT 2 elimination competitions so others could take the fall.
@@Arieskie I'm not, like, a walking Top Chef encyclopedia so I have no idea what you're talking about
Yeah that's the worst type of apology; passive aggressive. It angers me even more
No, Jamie was just a wimp. She wasn’t actively malicious. And to her credit, she never bullied anyone as she stated she hated fighting. Sarah and Heather are just horrible people who deny the terrible things they’ve done. I could excuse Lindsay for having a bad day in restaurant wars and lashing out but Sarah and Heather just out Bev through the wringer for bs reasons and I hated every second of it. Definitely was fun to watch Sarah break down after losing in the finals.
I don't love how they are called "bitter rivals" when Beverly was never really nasty or critical toward Heather? It was a one way street and with the amount of micro-aggressions Heather committed, it's hard not to think there were personal reasons for her disdain for Beverly.
Exactly
I’ve heard that it was due to a law suit that Beverly had against a male chef in Chicago? I’m not sure how true that is, but it’s just something I read on Reddit.
Not agreeing with how Beverly was treated. It was awful, and disgusting. There is NO excuse for it, but I just read that was why a few chefs were standoffish with her at first.
Yeah Heather is always condescending her and bull-dozing over her.
What micro aggressions?? Full-on aggression
Bev's restaurant has maintained a michelin star 5 years in a row now. Nobody cares about Heather.
I remember watching this season, I was glad that Heather got sent home early, she was such an asshole towards Beverly 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
PersonaX I’m so ashamed that they’re from Chicago, I promise you us Chicagoans do not act like that 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
It's just too bad Heather getting sent home didn't end the bullying Beverly endured.
@@dgaller06 agreed 😔
Heather is not just a bully. She's a racist bully. This is incredibly triggering to watch and her behavior really should have been addressed while she was on the show. I don't think it's a coincidence that the person she was set on bullying was an Asian woman, especially given some of her comments in her criticism towards her.
You were triggered? Adorable.
She was 100% racist towards Beverly and I wish her comments were called out for that on the show
@M.A.P. Investments Research I think it's the way Heather said it was more so the problem she comes off disgusted by by it.
@M.A.P. Investments Research fair. She does come across a "it's my way or the highway" kinda person.
@M.A.P. Investments Research that upset me so much, because how I saw it, she was the one who chose everything for that dish. Every single time bev made a suggestion, it was shot down. That didn’t make sense to me at all.
Well, Heather got what she wanted she got sent home for a dish she made herself.
Yes! 👏👏👏
It was hilarious when Patti LaBelle called her beef stroganoff Big Foot. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@avalangrin4904 I've been binging on Season 9 and Tom almost spit out his food when she said that! 😝
"Bitter rivals"? Are you *kidding,* Top Chef? Beverly did nothing to Heather. This was a clear-cut case of one chef being an outright bully toward another. I'm so glad that Beverly outlasted Heather, and then went on to win a Michelin Star and a James Beard award. Heather is probably flipping patties in an illustrious McDonald's nowadays.
Heather was extremely discriminating, obnoxious, and obviously not the better cook.
This is such a bullying season. Why would you want us to remember it? Beverly was treated HORRIBLY.
@Darren Nguyen, he asked a question. Hence the question mark.
@Darren Nguyen, it was a comparative question. Asking if the writer of the original comment thought it was worse than Marcel.
@Darren Nguyen, ahh, I get it. You are confident behind your computer and like to be the antagonist. My "opinion" is your probably very quiet and submissive in public, so on here you play out what you wish you could say. Got it... I will leave you to it. Have fun
Heather is a hideous, rude monster. I hope Heather knows how hated she is.
Heather: "Bev doesn't think like a chef." "Bev doesn't have the self-confidence to push through and get the results"
Beverly: *wins James Beard award and a Michelin star
That says plenty about both of them. I truly believe that bullies are bullies because of internal, unresolved insecurities and self-loathing. I know Heather is a talented chef but her nasty personality makes me never want to go to her restaurant.
Yes, Heather was just an egotistical bully, plain and simple.
Beverly is living her best life now unbothered.
The white f lady said she to not make it too Asian?. Wasn't that a bit RACIST?? NOBODY IS GOING TO CALL HER OUT?
I keep cringing on how she was too Asian with her dishes.
I also want to point out Lindsay and Sarah's treatment of Beverly was just as bad. Restaurant Wars was particularly difficult to watch this season and to see them get angry and bitter when Bev won was infuriating.
So true
“She’s not a team player” “she asks too many questions”
Her questions were all about collaborating as a team- so which one is it, Heather???
Heather sounds like a bully here.
Not sure how it is a compromise if you wanted nothing Asian on the dish, but half of the chefs on that dish cook in an Asian style. She wanted it to be Caucasian forward in her comfort zone because she literally can't cook anything non-American. And like Natasha was adding, they didn't not like the Asian flavors added to the dish. There was nothing Heather made that complimented the Asian profile of flavors Beverly was doing because she couldn't make a compromise on what dish would have ended up. Asking questions is not a sign of weakness. If your partner isn't on the same page with cooking the food won't be on the same page either. Heather had as much if not more of the failure on that plate than Beverly did because I'm sure Heather asserted more of what she cooked onto that plate of food and tried to keep Beverly's contributions off the plate.
Beverly Kim deserves to be invited to compete again without bulling, give her a chance to show what she can do without being mistreated.
Beverly Kim is winning where it counts. She doesn't need a Top Chef title.
I know certain podcasters have complained that they miss the conflict of earlier seasons and that Portland was too kumbaya, but I for one I do not miss this version of Top Chef where I just want to throw things at the screen and feel angry after watching it.
I just want to point out, because I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the other comments. The reason Heather and Sarah were completely awful to Beverly is because Beverly was part of a lawsuit against Charlie Trotter. According to Beverly, Trotter had required many cooks to work unpaid overtime. Trotter settled, but Beverly Kim was very much targeted by chefs in Chicago for whistle blowing. It was a really insane thing in Chicago's restaurant world. To the point that when Sarah Stegner (not to be confused with Sarah Grueneberg who was on this season of Top Chef), worked with Beverly, Chef Stegner caught flak. I don't know if she ever had it directly said to her, but I remember a lot of nasty comments directed behind her back.
I am so glad this show doesn't have toxic people like Heather on anymore. The last few groups have all treated each other with respect and admiration.
“I’m sorry if you think I hurt your feelings”
Top chef is my comfort show and unfortunately Heather Terhune is the reason I don’t watch this season comfortably. Seeing that Beverly kim has WON a James beard award and heather has little to show for her career since is a lesson in karma for us all. You go Bev.
This season was difficult to watch because of the the way Beverly was treated not just by Heather but Sara and Lindsey. It was cruel and I honestly considered just skipping to the next season. I simultaneously wanted to hug her and stand in front of her like a mama bear. So glad to see that she has had such a successful career.
This season was such a mess honestly. Beverly being bullied by a lot of cheftmates, horrible competitive attitude and a finale between 2 questionable people. Turns out the winner got arrested with felony and all
It was the season i stopped watching Top Chef; after having watched season 3 onwards.
Bingeing on Top Chef and wondering how all the misogyny, sexism and racism was permitted...and encouraged. In season 9, chefs Lindsey, Heather and Sarah were the textbook definition of KAREN. Chef Bev was grace under fire. So glad her star has outshone those harpies!
Heather says she does American Farm to Table, well she does American Racism even better...
I remember this season, it was shockingly racist.
racist? just because a person is mean to another, and that person happens to be a minority, doesn't mean racism.
@@geddoe316 not racist just very disrespectful.. very condescending.
@@geddoe316 Yes racist always talking about Asian this Asian that.
this season just straight up confused me. Lindsay, heather, AND sarah were all inexplicably rude towards beverly, and i have no clue at all
They should show a full clip from that season of ALL the times those women bullied Beverly and were racist.
So Beverly is now a Michelin 🌟 chef. What's Heather doing nowadays?
I’m really taken aback by the overt racism Heather is displaying. 😳
I think what Bev said about putting others down doesn't make her feel better, it makes her feel worse, is the exact difference between her and Heather. One's a normal person with empathy, the other is a self-centered bully.
Heather is unbelievable. As a mother of a part Asian child who wants to be a chef i find her comments highly offensive. I also come from a farm to table style restaurant that I worked for years, she's despicable
It's not only Heather. Don't forget Sarah. These 2 are bullies.
And Lindsey!
Heather was such a bully to Beverly it was sickening to see during this season
This is so painful to watch in this day and age when BLM makes us scrutinize the micro aggression of racism in our daily lives. Heather sounds like a Karen to me. The way she talks about 'American' food and Bev's 'Asian' food and saying that Beverly is not a team player when she herself is the epitome of 'my way or the highway'. I'm not sure why no one is calling Heather out and why this is not viral. This is mean girl racism.
Micro? This was blatant racism.
@@danielm4180 perhaps we need new words to describe cuisine because when someone aggressively almost shames another person (a racial minority) about her food (Asian) and that she herself is making American food, one can't help but feel the undertones of racism at play. (see Padma's Hulu show Taste the Nation)
@@danielm4180 I'm Asian. The words I was going for is Heather's "American" cuisine vs Bev's "Asian" cuisine. What does "American" cuisine mean? Is "Mexican" cuisine as we Americans know it, actually not "American"? Calling Heather's "American" rather than Bev's would be for lack of description in our language - if it's all as you say, not racist.
This is blatant bigotry and racism but please stop inserting BLM into everything you disagree with. BLM is a movement against police brutality. This is a cooking show. Context matters.
@@nataliefreeman5237 Fair enough.
Seems that in this case, Bev's success was the best revenge.
“It isn’t too Asian” or whatever is very racist
This was the worst season because of this. Heather is an absolute bully. I stopped watching halfway through.
i like how Sarah is sad and then proceeds to bully Bev after Heather has been eliminated
I'm a Top Chef fan! But... I hated this season! I even hated some of the challenges. Those witches were horrible to Beverly! She was a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen! I understand she is doing very well these days.Karma is real!
Heather: I take full responsibility.
Also Heather: I feel like I had no say in our dish.... you (Beverly) didn't listen to any of my ideas.
Wow. That heavy set lady is monstrous.
Thanks to the mean girls that season, Top Chef ended the reunion episodes too. Heather was such a biotch! Ooo...I still wanna slap her. 😂
The reunion show blew for this season because no one was held accountable for their actions towards her. Heather is just a monster.
And now everyone calls her Karen, PERFECT!
Bullies like Heather are insecure and know they lack skills in certain areas but won't admit it, and that's why she singled out Beverly like she did. She knew Beverly was the better chef, and instead of admitting that (at least to herself) and working on being better, she tried to intimidate and bully her to try to get her to fail.
I'm glad sarah and heather lost. neither one deserved to win for bullying!!
Ha Heather knew who to mess with....Girl just cause you big and loud dont make you right
Heather is just really jealous Beverly is skinny and cute and meanwhile she looks like an extra on monsters inc
what are you? Like 12?
@@damian6795 maybe she/he is 12, which makes the comment spot on. Act like a monster and you will be called one. Comment actually made me laugh, so it accomplishes more than yours.
Everytime I see clips of this season it just makes me disgusted all over again. Heather Terhune and Sarah Grueneberg were flat-out bullies.
I wonder how Heather feels now watching herself on the show, and recaps like this. Hope she is at least ashamed of her own horrid bullying behaviour.
She isn't sad or ashamed, she made comments after the show defending herself and the bullying she did . Now Beverly has awards and star rated restaurant. Only 1 of the girls apologized to Bev for their actions.
She was unable to watch it because her neighbor in the next trailer over cut the cable line she was stealing.
Racists seem justified by their actions. Just look who was voted POTUS in 2017.
I really hated this season because of Heather, Lindsey and Sarah and how they treated Beverly. I couldn't finish the season.
I skipped to the end of the finale just to make sure none of the mean girls won. I was rooting for Beverly, but as long as Lindsay and Sarah didn't, I was fine.
Farm to Table is a style? What flavor profiles does that consist of?
If i ever find out I'm at a restaurant and Heather is cooking I'll leave and make sure she knows why. The deep cutting racism on display from her was so disgusting.
I just watched her season. What did she say or do that was "racist." I only saw her just being a b*tch.
Heather acts like her personality makes her a better chef. Clearly not.
I watched this particular TOP CHEF WHERE the winner and Heather and Sarah absolutely bullied BEVERLY KIM the whole time of the competition.IT WAS SHAMEFUL and Top Chef should have said something, especially Coliccio and Padma are so liberal and WOKE .
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Well said!!
Heather seemed somewhat racist during this video. most of her issues were vocalized that she didn't like asian cooking or flavors without letting Beverly actually talking things out.
Can you do a video about the reunion specials?
That kind of behavior is never a part of Top Chef
Beverly is Asian and deserves respect❤and kindness
Beverly kickin it at her restaurant mokbar!!
I felt horrible for Beverly.
I was just binge watching this yesterday
Heather beliefs something being her opinion makes it a fact. She showed she learned NOTHING from this in the reunion episode.
That HAMBEAST was a garden variety BULLY!!!
The mean girls ruined this season for me. Cringey to watch, and I love binge watching Top Chef. Whatever happened to H, S and L?
Heather definitely bullied Bev. Bev asked her input to make they did things a team and now she turns it into Bev being needed. Bev should have told her spoke up much more; she was lying and misleading the perception of Bev.
Beverly put up with so much BS
I don't want it to be "too Asian" but i do want it to be American Farm to Table....hmmm.
Let me just say I feel for Heather’s High School classmate targeted victims who no doubt exist.
Heather is awful. Not a team player nor a leader.
Ive seen every season/ep and don't remember this.
The karma came when Heather was sent home for HER beef stroganoff. I’ll never forget that Patti LaBelle said it tasted like Heather shot and killed Bigfoot for the meat it was so tough. 🤣🤣🤣. Heather deserved that exit and all the hate she received from the viewers. 🤨🤨🤨.
Love Bev!
no ending? so what happened?
I hated Sarah and Heather
Karen energy bomb
So, what happened this episode? Who went home? Did one or both go? Who outlasted whom?
Sometimes in a reality show, producers make things better or worse than they really are. However, that is NOT the case with how Sarah and Heather went full b**** mode on Beverley in this season.
I didn’t even watch this season, and I hate Heather.
Disappointed that this did not show if nasty Heather got eliminated
heather was a clown
Pack your knives and go !
I think the judges played favorites with the last chefs who had elite mentors and sent ,Bev home too soon. Not cool.
I know girls that look and act just like her. They’re impossible to deal with.
I agree 💯
I hated the way Sara, Heather, and Lindsay treated her. I was made when Sara made semifinals but so glad she lost. Their attitudes made them uncomfortable to watch
Heather is one of the original racist Karens.
The two biggest girls on the show trying to bully ppl…. They bibop and rock steady from ninja turtles
Heather is the one that run the show n that dish n made it confusing
Big bev being mean
Heather is the stereotypical bossy, loud American.
What does she have against Asian food?
Just rewatched this season, the final 4 Sarah undercooks her main protein & gets thru against Beverley what a joke, then Sarah cooks with the last 3 again a main component was frozen again she goes thru. This is a totally rigged season of top chef very disappointed
Can’t stand heather. She’s a bully
This is giving racist...shame on top Chef for not correcting this.
I hope no one wanted to work with heather after this episode
Heather the cow
Sarah, the evil bully from the show... Top Bully is more like it
Embarrassing.
