Maybe it wasn't buccal fat, but jowl liposuction. She has no jowls whatsoever. A facelift is not enough to erase all the jowling. My surgeon did jowl lipo even though i had minimal jowling. He said it was to make the facelift last longer. Buccal fat has no effect on jowling, but subcutaneous fat does. Jowls, the most aging sign, ARE subcutaneous fat that that descended from the cheeks.
That being said, in her 60s Madonna is not only fighting aging, but also trying to fit the current beauty standards. So, it is possible she has fallen into the buccal fat trend.
But just understand that beautifying procedures are not the same as restorative ones. The previous Madonna was just fighting aging. This one, in her 60s, is also trying to look like an Instagram filter, something usually reserved for the younger crowd.

Same here - somehow I feel weirdly disappointed to find she had big surgery in her early 30s. At least I think I still look human.

I saw her in concert about 15 years ago and she looked fantastic. I think in the last 10 years she went overboard with fillers and surgery. 😢

I went to see her in 2012, and she actually looked really good. Perfect body, lovely face.
Dr. Ryan was her plastic surgeon. He did great work up until about 2009. He drove his Jeep off a cliff and perished and since then she’s looked progressively more-freakish.

At age 28, what sets apart early signs of mid-face aging from natural nasolabial folds some people have all their lives?
Maybe that she didnt have them before? Ive also always had them lol. I remembered getting teased about it at like 13 years old😂 im 33 now theyre just abit deeper
It all depends on severity. Natural changes from the early to late twenties should be more subtle. Some buccal fat loss, cheek volume loss, and slight increase in the prominence of nasolabial folds. Anything more drastic would be considered unnatural. You would need to compare before and after photos.
The first phase of aging happens around late 20s. It's mostly about volume loss. You lose the smoothness and glow of young adulthood. It's a slow process at that point. The second phase is more brutal and happens around menopause.
I remember putting on lipstick one evening to go out and being shocked at how it aged me. I was 28. Now that i look at photos of me at that age, i looked great, but some aging was definitely taking place.

Oh my. I used to idolise this woman and try to emulate some of her looks when we were young. Turns out she was having surgery before I’d even heard of it.
She only had preservation surgeries then. None of her natural features were altered until she fell into the Instagram trend in her 60s.

She was aging very gracefully with her first two facelifts. But suddenly, in her 60s, she felt the need to follow current beauty trends, which has nothing to do with preservation. Don't confuse both, just because she is.

Madonna was always so striking. Although we may not all like what she's done, it's her face/body & thank goodness she's free to do whatever she likes & look however she likes to look.

Honestly her surgery looks amazing considering how much she has had done. Her skin especially, makes her look significantly younger.

A facelift in 30s? Is that common? Im 43 and wouldn’t even consider one until my skin is looser.
Late 30s, which is close to 40. Speaking in decades can be misleading. It's not like she was 31.
Some people age faster than others. Some can delay their first facelift until 55, while others see these changes at 37. I would say 48 is the point where most begin to need a facelift. I you wait until 55, you will usually have significant aging by then. The sooner you do it, the more discreet it is.
(And by "need," i don't mean anyone needs a facelift per se.)

I’m sure it’s hard for someone of her star caliber to let the limelight go. Her best days look wise and musically are past her.
Madonna is entitled to do whatever she wants, but the public is also entitled to judge.

Absolutely. The first phase og aging starts in our late 20s (at least for females). It's slow and subtle at that point, but there is loss of volume and glow. I noticed this one day at 28 and see it retrospectively in photos.
But nothing like the second phase which happens brutally around menopause.
