Normally I don’t like films that have nonsensical storylines, as they make me roll my eyes in disbelief. This film does the same, but with charm and simplicity.
1. 9:04 is easily one of my favorite photos of Ilene Woods 2. The 1950s animated movies of Disney is easily my favorite bunch, with Alice being my 3rd favorite of the 5 (Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty are 1st and 2nd). 3. Great video! I look forward to your next one!
Hahhaa that's too brilliant!! Decent effort right there!! Took me bloody ages to collect them all as I was collecting them as they were released. Your way sounds easier and less stressful haha.
The first DVD I ever bought was Snow White. I have Blu rays of all of the animated films from SW to Sleeping Beauty and Princess and the Frog. They are not just wonderful movies they are works of art. I can't wait for the Mickey Mouse cartoons to come out on Blu ray
Maybe its just me, but I've alwaus loved Alice as kid and still do today. Perhaps it was just ahead of its time but I always appreciated its lush color scheme.
Disney teased Alice in Wonderland along with Peter Pan (which would coincidently be released after the latter) in the opening shot of Pinocchio. When Jiminy Cricket first sings the final verse of When You Wish Upon A Star, you can see two books on the left with the titles visable. They were meant to be done after Pinocchio and Bambi but because of making of Fantasia, the finacial flops of said films, they were post-poned until after the completion of Cinderella.
Great vid mate. Really high quality and interesting. Tbh, I’d be interested in these sort of vids for any movie you feel has an interesting story behind it
Hi Dave, that was rather ballsy of Walt to get a one way ticket to Hollywood, I like the Disney classic version more than the Tim Burton version. This is my youngest daughters favorite book and she has a tattoo of Alice on her arm. I really appreciate the hard work you put into these mini documentaries, if you do another please let it be The Aristiocats, probably my favorite Disney classic (you can skip over Bambi haha) cheers Dave this was brilliant :)
Oh, it certainly was. He used the last of his money to purchase that train ticket too. There's a saying that says he came to Hollywood with nothing but a suitcase and a dream. I certainly love this one over the Burton one too. The Burton one didn't keep my attention -- fell asleep at the end haha. Thanks so much for the kind words, Alan. I'll definitely be doing more and plan on doing Aristocats soon! My aim is to do one for all 50+ movies. No matter how long it takes. PS. I think I got a little parcel from you today ;) Thanks very much, I'll be opening it on the next unboxing. Probably next weekend.
Got your email thanks! The disc is ready to pick up now, so I'll get it when I'm in during the week. I'll put it aside and will let you know how much it is all up in a couple weeks!
While Alice in wonderland isn’t one of my most favourite Disney movies I still admire the animation in this, seeing the vibrant colours makes me miss 2D animated movies and I hope one day 2D Animated movies will return to the big screen because they have such warmth to them.
I completely agree with you! The animation in this one is some of the best from the studio! I'd love to see traditional animation make a comeback myself. I believe there's a right market for it now -- a lot of people are nostalgic for it at the moment.
Alice developed a sightly different, more relatable personality when the film was dubbed into Spanish. I grew up watching the dubbed version and didn't hear the original English version until I was 15. I didn't like Alice as much in English...
That's Walt demonstrating how his artists use the animation camera. He's placing cells onto the background and photographing them. This was done for an episode of his Disneyland TV show, the episode is called 'Operation: Wonderland' and you can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/kzFQrtnyCEQ/v-deo.html This particular segment comes in around 5 minutes.
Hey Dave. What are your thoughts on the Oscar Nominations? I am so happy Logan got some recognition in best adapted screenplay and IMO it deserved more than that. What about you.
Hey mate, I'm not all that fussed this year to be honest. I haven't seen too many of the movies. I'm bummed that Franco didn't get a nom for disaster artist. Happy that Star Wars got a couple of recognitions. And also super surprised Logan got a nod too - bodes well for superhero films!
Dave Lee Down Under Yeah but considering that the allegations surrounding Franco surfaced during voting it is not surprising. I will check out the disaster artist when it comes to blu ray as I haven’t seen it
Dave Lee Down Under I was just making sure it wasn’t my headphones, I love these sort of videos, it would be cool if you could do some on classic cinema :)
Yes, she was a drawing of Kathryn Beaumont, 12, when she voiced Alice. In the Disney Classic, she is a preteen. I believe she's much younger in the book.

"To hell with what the English viewers think!"
This legit made me gasp in shock, in the most stereotypically English way possible. Mean ol' Walt.
😂😂
Me too, but that seems to have been his tagline when it comes to respecting English Literature.

I LOVE this period of animation myself. Sleeping Beauty is an absolute favourite of mine.
Thanks so much :)
THIS IS MY MOST FAVOURITE DISNEY MOVIE

You’re the reason I have started a intense obsession with collecting Disney Blu Rays I’m up to 50 in 3 months 😂😂😂😂
Hahhaa that's too brilliant!! Decent effort right there!! Took me bloody ages to collect them all as I was collecting them as they were released. Your way sounds easier and less stressful haha.
Dave Lee Down Under I’ve completely taken over the Disney movie club I’m ashamed to say I’ve signed up a few times to get five movies for a dollar lol
Hahha, don't be ashamed! I'd do the same thing 😂😂😂
Always love cheating the system for a good bargain! haha
The first DVD I ever bought was Snow White. I have Blu rays of all of the animated films from SW to Sleeping Beauty and Princess and the Frog. They are not just wonderful movies they are works of art. I can't wait for the Mickey Mouse cartoons to come out on Blu ray
Kenton Clarkson they really are!
I have such a bad feeling they never will... but we can always hope!
Maybe its just me, but I've alwaus loved Alice as kid and still do today. Perhaps it was just ahead of its time but I always appreciated its lush color scheme.
It's certainly one of Disney's most colorful movies, even to this day.
Alice in Wonderland is one of the best movies they ever made Walt is crazy.
I would never have known any of this. Thanks for the upload. Keep up the good work Dave. 😊 and have a very happy un- birthday too.

Dave Lee Down Under OK mate I will ask her about it.
Got your email thanks! The disc is ready to pick up now, so I'll get it when I'm in during the week. I'll put it aside and will let you know how much it is all up in a couple weeks!
Dave Lee Down Under awesome Dave, have a great weekend 😀😀😀
12 year old beautiful British girl Alice enters the world of Wonderland.
Awesome, keep them coming!
Thank you!! Plenty more to come :)

I'm a simple woman. I see Audrey Hepburn in the background - I like.
Who doesn't love Audrey!!
Lacked a major villain 🦹♀️? The Queen of Hearts is a villain 🦹♀️ in the movie 🍿 Dave Lee Down Under
"The Wizard Of Oz" is ALSO my favorite story. Awesome video. Love from Australia.
Alice developed a sightly different, more relatable personality when the film was dubbed into Spanish.

You Should Do One Of Dumbo
I'll be doing one for every Disney animated movie at some point
YAAAAAAAAAY
:) Hope you enjoyed!!
I BOUGHT THE BLU RAY AND THE BONUS MATERIAL IS AWESOME
Awesome!!! It's got some great stuff on there!
my fav is an hour in wonderland. and through the key hole
An Hour in Wonderland is fantastic! That was Walt's first TV programme, if you didn't know! :)
lol i know. i can relate to Alice in the sense that she isn't always patient and she is curious. the blu ray is probably one of the best ones i have
I wonder if it will be rereleased to celebrate it's 70th anniversary?
What is that, that Walt is messing with and doing at 8:00? Can I find any of this video on youtube?
That's Walt demonstrating how his artists use the animation camera. He's placing cells onto the background and photographing them.

Is there a problem with your audio? :)
Don't think so. If you're referring to the audio in my intro, I think there's a little crackling on the music track.
Dave Lee Down Under from around the 20 second mark there is pooping :)
Yeah, It's on the music track I think
Dave Lee Down Under I was just making sure it wasn’t my headphones, I love these sort of videos, it would be cool if you could do some on classic cinema :)
All good man. Yeah, just a small issue with the music track.
Thanks Alfie, certainly something I'm considering for the future of the channel.
