It really does make you think of The Wizard Of Oz, very Judy Garland/Over The Rainbow, same type of feeling.

Kathryn Beaumont looks great! She's so cute. After she did Wendy she quit acting, went to USC and became an elementary school teacher for 36 years!
Beyond the laughing sky is my favorite deleted song in alice in wonderland and I love listening to songs that are deleted or thrown up at the Disney studios and especially listening to these songs in storyboards but I'm stuck with in a world of my own because that was great but beyond the laughing sky and the second star to the right really have a similar score to each other but I'm so sorry for the songwriters who did these great songs in the past that made Walt unhappy with it but you make us proud today.
I personally really, really like I'm Odd, which was meant for the Cheshire Cat. I haven't heard many deleted aongs, though. Only a few. Beyond the Laughing Sky is a bit melancholy, but I still like it very much.
It kind of reminds of something Richard Stilgoe (original lyricist of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera) once said, “If a composer writes a tune and it doesn’t end up in that particular show, you put it away and bring it out for another show. Whereas, if you write a lyric called “Oklahoma” and it doesn’t get into a show called “Oklahoma “, it’s obviously no good for Carousel”.
I completely agree with what you said, Sean. Songwriters, composers and lyricists can try to concoct something suitable for one show, then cut it out and put it in another.
Disney also did this with the song Trust in Me in The Jungle Book, that song was written as The Land of Sands for Mary Poppins
I think Sean's point is that lyrics usually arent as easily tranferrable from one story situation to another as melodies. Thus, more of the good work of lyricists ends up going down the memory hole, and lyricists have a somewhat harder job than composers (which is arguably true in any case).
"Beyond the Laughing Sky" is an interesting song. I had no idea they had to take that song out of "Alice in Wonderland" and re-hash the song's melody for "The Second Star to the Right" in "Peter Pan". Also, the artwork that the song was playing, does anybody know who did the illustrations?
Well
Most of it came from english artist , David Hall who do the 1939 failed pitch of Alice . The reason why is one thing
Its Dark .
And i believed the rest is by Mary Blair
@@m.syauqiabdurahman2798 I'd never heard of David Hall, but I am familiar with Mary Blair (who also did illustrations for "Cinderella"). The illustrations look unique if you asked me.
@@m.syauqiabdurahman2798 I actually recognized some of the artwork as Bill Peet's work.
@@1987AnimeBoy Indeed, but for Blair's work, very realistic for her colors and sense of adventure. And as for Alice's deleted song, well, that would've be an interesting piece of importance in the final cut of the film, but when they kept the song's melody for "Peter Pan", close enough.
she was a good singer, she just couldnt hit the higher notes.
She hits all the notes required of her in the movie. Apart from one gag when she cracks in Golden Afternoon.
The actual song starts at 4:37
Walt Disney, you are a really awesome man. You’re the guy who proved that animated movies are not just for kids, and that the whole family can watch and love them too. You speak the truth by saying “Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever,” “I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether we be six or sixty,” and “You’re dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up anyway,” as well as your quotes about animation being suitable for everybody in the whole world, and the fact that your films have less childish moments and more mature moments. Yeah, Walt Disney, you are a really nice guy. Most of your movies are very family-friendly, they are cult classics, and extremely 100% ambitious on being meant for both kids and adults, and Alice in Wonderland is one of them. So since you usually speak the truth, Walt, I’m sorry, but I definitely 100% have to say that you saying that Alice has no heart is the only false thing you said. It is the only lie you ever said. Everything else you says is true, but saying that Alice has no heart is the only bad one. You upsetted me so much by saying that Alice has no heart. I can’t believe you said that. You were wrong about saying those false things about Alice. She is nice and cute, as well as mature, and that she does have a heart. Don’t worry, you’re still an awesome man for making your movies 100% intended for the whole family to adore and enjoy, but you saying that Alice has no heart is the only bad thing you ever said, and that’s it.
That comment from Walt really upset me too. I think he said it because Alice in wonderland flopped when it first came out apparently.. and he wanted to distance himself from the film. I find him ludicrous to say that when he had so much involvement with Kathryn Beaumont in the film…
Alice is underrated okay? She is underrated and likable. She is soooooo nice. Her name means noble and kind. She does not deserve the hate she gets at all. She has a heart. She has a personality. She is not boring at all. Same thing for her best friend, Wendy, same thing for Aurora, same thing for Ariel. Alice, Wendy, Aurora, and Ariel are all very, very, very underrated and they do not deserve the hate they get at all. No, none of them deserve the hate they get. I am a gargantuan fan and defender of these 4 girls, a GARGANTUAN defender of them.
I remember watching this when I was little on the DVD bonus features and it really gave me the creeps
I know that there are some other deleted songs as well that I want to listen to. Like with the deleted characters The Lion & The Unicorn along with the Jabberwocky.

both lovely songs
Kathryn Beaumont the legend is still alive!!! and she may be reading this comment made by my mind somewhere in Northern Italy!
I wish they kept this song in the movie and then changed the tune for Peter Pan.
I remembered that both movies are on Disney plus and they're also in the program Once Upon a Studio. Alice in Wonderland is my first favorite Disney movie along with Mary Poppins.
I love everything about this upload, thanks so much for the effort, it's appreciated!
this song was deleted because katheryn beaumont wasn't a good singer, so they put a song easier to learn
It wasn’t that she was bad. She just couldn’t hit the highest notes. Singing well doesn’t inherently mean having to sing high. If so, most male singers would be considered “bad”
Kinda makes me want to ship them. Like can you imagine Peter meeting Alice and she gets dreadfully lost in Neverland? What if Peter went to Wonderland? Would he be able to handle all of the non-sense or would he go mad?! Curiouser and Curiouser...
There was an episode of Fox' animated series Peter Pan and the Pirates which dealt with that very possibility. In the episode, Wendy wrote her own version of Alice with everyone on Neverland, including Captain Hook and his Pirates, as the characters! A well-meaning spell by Tinker Bell makes this a reality, with Wendy as Alice (with Peter along as an unscripted companion!), John as the Mad Hatter, Captain Hook and Smee as the Queen and King of Hearts, the Pirates as the Cards, and Michael and the Lost Boys as all the other characters!
@@chuuwu3530 In the movie, she's most likely 10 (or maybe that's jus Kathy's age when she recorded the movie). But I still agree with you.
@@chuuwu3530 Not in the original story. Peter is described as still having his baby teeth.
This is exactly the same as the second star to the right
I had no idea about the unused song.
great song both ways
Alice in Wonderland: The Masterpiece Collector's Edition
Wow this was something new I never knew about the movie
También hubiera sido bonito que dejaran la canción en la película
I guess I learned something new. And I remember the actress from Alice in Wonderland.
highly reccomended
I thought Kathryn Beaumont did the singing?
It sounds like her voice
Marisa Liu she did do all the singing. The demo of Beyond the Laughing Sky was done by another girl. Since it was never used for Alice, Kathryn never sang it
I would suspect that either they couldn't get the singer to come back and just dropped the song altogether or it was Kathryn and she forgot that she recorded especially if you consider both women back then had the exact same voice it's possible that she forgot that she recorded. Otherwise the other singer's identity would most likely had been known by now.
you want a Disney song reminiscent to over the rainbow just look at part of your world from little mermaid

I have one question: how were the Cheshire Cat scenes filmed?
Joshua ourro sent me
Kathryn looks good for her age. It'd be cool if she did Dancing with the Stars.

Was this sung by Gloria Donovan in the 1950s? I can't seem to find any background on her.
I am the only one who likes Alice. I don’t care what everybody says. I love her very, very much. I will always love Alice forever. ❤️ 💕
ALL ICE IN ONE RED LAND
This song also sounds like it's from a more tragic setup, like say, a rich bitch coming to kill her dog, and her family was too poor to do anything about it. A World of My Own sounds a lot more like a girl who just wants to get out of doing homework.
weird but good
if you listen really close to the Medley and Lyrics and the tune to Second star to the Right in the animated Peter Pan movie, it's really the tune that was suppose to be used for a deleted song for Alice in Wonderland called Beyond the Laughing Sky, how cool is that, that's something you don't even learn from Disney sometimes, huh

I don’t know 🤷♂️
2nd star to the right is better
+MrGabeanator I disagree. I like "Beyond the Laughing Sky". It would have been a suitable song for Alice to sing, following in the footsteps of The Wizard of Oz' "Over the Rainbow".
Also, because "Beyond the Laughing Sky" is slower than "Second Star to the Right".

Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan have a lot of connections actually: This song that was later written as "Second Star to the Right", Kathryn Beaumont did the voices of Alice and Wendy, Bill Thompson who did the voice of The White Rabbit also did the voice of Mr. Smee, and Heather Angel, who did the voice of Alice's sister did the voice of Mrs. Darling. Both girls wear blue dresses, bows in their hair, black shoes, are English, and their stories revolve around their adventures of imaginary lands.
+Misskayseeluvsu yeah true
Not only that, but they also used the same singing groups, namely the Jud Conlon Chorus and the Mellomen. Plus, in addition to voicing the White Rabbit and Smee, Bill Thompson also voiced the Dodo and ALL of Captain Hook's pirates.
Also, in the very first shot of Pinocchio after the credits, there's two books that are in the background. Those two books? Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan.
I also read that this song was in spirit to “Over the rainbow”
Granted Bill Thompson did several Disney films; Lady and the Tramp, the Aristocats, and Sleeping Beauty to name a couple.
