Solid review. Ballastic missile with great economy 🙂. Looking forward to the Audio system review!
Thank you!
The plaid has always been a beast! Beats a lot of hypercars, especially ICE-based ones.
Yup!
thank you for the review !
how do I connect my Qobuz streaming over cable, and over bluetooth (with a quality loss), how do I go to the next song (if it works) ?
Glad you liked the review! Unfortunately, you can't. Only via Bluetooth.
I hear a lot of people complain about the absence of carplay and android auto, can someone explain to me why anyone would need those in a tesla?
Well all your favourite places that are stored on your phone (ie pinned areas on maps) aren't on the Tesla system. The audio system is limited to low quality Bluetooth (unless you sacrifice the USB slot). You can't use the voice assistant systems of your phone. Sure there are few more reasons but those would be the main ones!
Totally agree. I have my Spotify on both my M3 & Model S Plaid and what more could I want?
The maps are so good what do I want my phone's map for?
"The audio system is limited to low quality Bluetooth" ??? Bolocks!!
Good for you, but not everyone uses Spotify!
And that's right, it's limited to lower quality playback when using music from your phone.
Waze
Great and honest review as always Chris! On one hand the car is truly revolutionary given its performance and price point. At about 15 years ago you could only get this type of performance with a 1+ million car.
But on the other hand it does seem to lack certain quality of life improvements such as a HUD. Its a double edged sword but still a remarkable piece of engineering.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the review! Indeed, it's remarkable what Tesla has achieved with its straight line speed.
15years ago, how many cars under a million can drive that fast today?
@@hardywoodaway9912M3 xDrive with an $800 tune
We never turn on the track mode just customized it! Plaid beat Taycan turbo s on nurburgring about 8 soconds fasster. 7 minutes and 25 seconds
U realize tesla just realesed that right? Taycan held the lap time since they burst onto the seen. Give them a chance to respond. I GUARANTEE they will surpass it. They have partnered with rimac. Look up the taycan turbo GT tri motor with 1000hp+ coming early 2024
@@user-my4xu4gf1z we are waiting! Roadster will crush everything.
The Plaid is the best of the best in and out !!! Super practical and Spacecause too !!
Judging by your display name, you must love Teslas!
Lmao its a budget sports car for a reason buddy. As far as EV goes the lucid saphhire air is the best inside and out. Espicially interior wise its actually luxury.
@@user-my4xu4gf1z lucid very very ugly in and out, made for old ppl.... Overpriced Buick looking horrible design !!!
My favourite vehicle by far, pound for pound (Cost) beats anything, it is just the perfect jump in and do your daily thing or drive like a lunatic clown .... on track of course. Totally agree on the LH drive only option now for UK people, it does make me wonder what TESLA has in store for the next gen variant for these RH drive markets ?
Yeah, would be interesting to see what happens! Not great to think that its flagship isn't available as a RHD...
My model 3 is too fast already. Can’t imagine the Plaid. 😮
Yup, it's madness!
The Model S Plaid is quicker on track, with the track package, than all of the mentioned competitors, and has higher cornering speeds on the Nurburgring than the Porsche Taycan, even though the Taycan leaned less... I wouldn't say the Taycan handles better for that reason.
Well, can only go based on the vehicle that was reviewed!
Track package isn’t only brakes. They calibrated the air suspension damping differently giving it better cornering and handling which is something they could have done to everyone (not just track package buyers) I’m waiting for my track package install as I used it for racing events.
Let us know how you get on!
@@1971joseramirez I know, however even the car without the track package has higher lateral acceleration.
Track package just came out bruh u gotta give porsche a chance to respond. Look up the taycan turbo gt ;) coming early 2024. 1000+hp tri motor system. They said they are making sure it sets an EV standard and are partnered with Rimac. Who has the fastest EV rn. Wait on it. Itll just be another car tesla ppl cant buy though. 😂
Its honestly sad the normal plaid has 600 more hp and is still slower then the taycan turbo s on a track. U have to have the new track package. I cant even imagine what porsche has coming.
So 0-60mph I about 7-8min + 2 seconds lol. 3.5 in my MYP whenever I want is more than enough 😅
Haha that's true!
Great review!! I have this exact car and wouldn't trade it for anything...well done aper!!
Thanks, glad you liked the review, and pleased you're enjoying it :)
Doubt thats true, its more of its just what u can afford.
I'm still on the fence. My plan was to buy a C8 Stingray Corvette. They are beautiful cars, but the Tesla is a practical soccer mom car that will blow the doors off most anything on the road.
@@jaztec68 c8 if u can afford or already have another car. It will turn heads and be way more of an engaging car when driving it. Plaid is quick but literally no one on the road or car guys care. They'll just look at it as an EV and give no respect.
Plaid is actually beyond ludicrous :)
Headsup display is distraction. i think if you drive this car every day, you get normal with indicators.well, im a genius 😉 so i wouldn't have a problem with the turn buttons
Thanks for sharing.
Model S UK sales must have fallen off a cliff.
👀
Budget?! Budget!?
Haha, yes if you think of the cost of a hypercar...😅
Actually a pretty good bang for the buck considering the amount of money you need to spend and any car to get that kind of acceleration without mentioning warranty, breakdowns and drivability issues.
@@1971joseramirezA roller coaster ticket is $30 lol. You get 3-5 times the G-forces of the Tesla. As far as issues, any visit to the Tesla service is a one month wait. Not to even mention the build quality.
@@DMCarReviews not a single issue with mine.
Today I’m leaving mine on service center to install the track package , let’s see the experience.
Yes! G force on a coster is greater but can you line up on one and race?
Got pretty good memories on video to enjoy right now 👌🏽
The more the people resit to change the more I enjoy humbling them at the track 😉
@@1971joseramirez Your track modified Plaid runs a few seconds faster than a 300hp Integra on the track (assuming best driver), so I don't know why you are so excited. Look at the Nurburgring times.
Why would anyone want to reduce the regenerative braking?
No cure for stupid.
As not everyone wants to decelerate as soon as you lift off the accelerator pedal. Having the option would have been appreciated, as it was the case on older Teslas. Be respectful.
You regulate the amount of deceleration with the accelerator pedal.
Keep your foot where it is, and you continue at that speed.
Lift off the accelerator pressure slightly and you lose speed slightly. Lift off more and you slow down more.
Lift your foot off the accelerator completely and you get max regen braking.
Where is the problem? It is infinitely variable.
Doesn't get better than that!
@@TotallyEV
@alexd302 yes I know how it works having reviewed over 80 pure electric vehicles, but you're missing the point. Glad you're enjoying it.
Me. I prefer to gently coast.
Those indicator buttons are a safety hazard; controls for indicators need to be in a fixed position.
This kind of disregard to safety should be scrutinised at government level as this is not acceptable in a modern car.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Do i get a free tesla for being the one thousand viewer?
Imagine! Haha. Thanks for the support 😊
Definitely not a fan of the brand , good video !
Thanks for sharing!
That must explain why you are watch this!
@alexd302 because I follow this guy and all his reviews and because I'm a fan of cars ! He does a great job
Thank you for your ongoing support!
One trick pony. Drove one recently. Besides the initial acceleration joy for the first 10 minutes, it's very bland. It's an 11-year old design, with poor build quality and IKEA style materials. The handling felt very clumsy to me, and I almost slided out when taking a curve at slightly higher speed. The brakes aren't strong enough to comfortably stop from higher speeds, when slowing down multiple times in a row. They start fading and overheating. The acceleration and speed is irrelevant since most of our speed limits are 40-55mph. A BMW M3 xDrive with an $800 flash tune (in Tesla fan language an "over the air update"), will run in the 9s on the quarter mile while having amazing handling and excellent build quality.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
...and with no warranty and still slower than running 9.2-9.4
Also less range....
@@TB-vb3ov Stock Plaids run mid high 9s. Gutted around 9s. A tuned M3 is still way more reliable than that microwave.
The UI / Entertainment interface in a Tesla Plaid makes up for the lower build quality compared to German counterpart interiors. Ive had both and if i only had one car for life, itd be a Model S.
Fascinating. You think the UI in the other cars isn't up to scratch?
@@TotallyEVI think the German IUs are overly complicated compared to Teslas, which has the best screen size as well.
