What an interesting experiment and I loved that you didnt give up when it failed to begin with. I like to keep trying all sort of varieties regardless of what 'experts' tell us. Really enjoyed this Jelle
Just type this in on random, I love my Brazilian Grape patio Bonsai, have managed to keep it going for about 7 years now, grew it from a seeding . He stands about 2 1/2 feet and is just a beautiful little tree. They make awesome Bonsai.
Jelle, moro no Brasil, se me permitir quero te dar umas dicas.
Nicely done! Not many people have been successful at this. There's a video out there where they do something with lime juice to change the ph once they are cut from the main tree. Going to have to try on a small branch from my grafted red hybrid.
Tank you. I have done it again since this video was brought out, and I had 2 more root. This time in pretty much full organic soil and quite wet, much wetter than what you would use for maples e.g.. Took under a year this time to root.
Hello, I live in Brazil. Here we have two types of Jaboticaba tree: Jaboticaba Sabará is the native specie, It takes about 8 years to flower. There is another specie that we named as Hybrid Jaboticaba, It takes 2 years to flower, but the fruit doesnt have the same taste as the Sabará.
I sure will keep growing bonsai 👍! Never seen this type off tree before. Very interesting. Roots all in the bottom of the pot, looks like it is a water loving species 👊👊👌
Super interesting! Great experiment and insight. Definitely will apply to some of my fussy trees. Do you place hardwood cuttings of your temperate trees into baggies over winter as well?
você teria conseguidos mais mudas se tivesse plantada a jabuticaba no chão , ela dará frutas mais rápido e conseguiria mais sementes, ela gosta de substrato bem orgânico e de bastante agua, se ela for a hibrida da frutos mais rápido.
I stuck 2 cuttings a month ago now I see some leaves and a stem came of 1 and now another. I think they didn't root but I'll leave them. The cuttings are the width of a pencil. My jubuticaba is 2m high
Maybe you can help me I just purchased a Jab and the leaf tips are brown, what causes this? I 1 have read that they don't like hard water and will water with distilled water. Will Peter's fertilizer 20-20-20 at half strength be ok?
@GrowingBonsai Peter's professional granular mixed with water, the tree arrived with the brown tips from Brussels bonsai and a good crop of moss seems to be a fungal infection also, treating with Bio Advanced 3 in 1 and watering with distilled water its doing much better now
Mine did the same until I switched to Reverse Osmosis water. From what I've heard they don't need much fertilizer. Careful with that Petes stuff, it's sort of like miracle grow and you'll get salt build up. Go organic!
It is a tropical, yet they need partial shade here in Florida as the leaves burn easily, Jim Smith our resident expert on this tree once said he grew his beautiful specimen tree under 30 percent shade cloth, I grow mine outdoors in partial shade and It is doing well last 20 years.

Great to hear! I agree. Study. Try , fail, try again. And if you fail 3 times in a row, decide it might not be for you.

Muito Obrigado Eduardo!
Thanks for sharing, I'm gonna try this technique for rooting cuttings of my jaboticaba.
Wonderful! Let me know whether you are successfull!

Success! Mission impossible with Double O Jelle! Man on a mission! Those are really neat trees!
They are! And it is a shame they are not more commonly available!
Thanks for another great and informative video!!
my pleasure!
wow! I had never seen Jabuticaba root with that success rate, great video!
Me neither
Pleasure to watch, as allways. Thank you!
Do you open the baggies from time to time, just forna moment to exchange the air?
These I kept closed all the time!
From what ive read it takes a long time for them to flower. About 8 to 15 years.

@@eduardohenriqueoechsler6607 interesting sounds like we need the hybrid type for bonsai.
True James. However, the main tree I have was bearing fruit when I received (and trimmed) it to turn into bonsai. So this one "is of age"
Got my self an Jabuticaba and planing to do cuttings also.
let me know how you succeed!
@@GrowingBonsai Will do so.
Wonderful to see. Iv tried to grow from seed bought online but never had any success.
Yeah, this is a tricky species to get!
I have never heard of that tree. Very well done on the cultivation of those cuttings.
I am pleased too!

Yeah, water loving and organics loving is my conclusion too!
Fantastic
interesting Jelle 👍never heard of the tree before.
but the flowering on the tree trunk makes me think of Cacao, wich also come from South America.
Cool observation. Never occured to me but 100% right. Interestingly, they are not close relatives!
Super interesting! Great experiment and insight. Definitely will apply to some of my fussy trees. Do you place hardwood cuttings of your temperate trees into baggies over winter as well?
to be honest, hardwood winter cuttings are not my best skill. WOuld not dare give advice.
Super vidéo, merci à vous!
My pleasure!
So even thought it's naturally a slow grower you think it'll grow quicker by cuttings over seeds?

I am afraid full ground is not an option here. -20C is not great for jabuticaba!?

Cool! Once you get growth it is a really good chance rooting will start!
Is tge pine bark acidic?
I want one!!!
Me Two!

Dry air can also be an issue. I do not know what Peter's Fertilizer is.

@@MyronRedding-k8x Doing very well now using distilled water mostly fert once amonth
👍👌🙂
:D
