Wow I never expected one of our encounters to be on UA-cam 😳
(We are the first clip with the husky)
for anyone who wanted to know the cops where called, no action was taken “we can only take action if the dog physically hurt your dog” is what the sheriff said to me,
I hope the cops coming in stoped her from doing that in the future, people are annoying something that might seem a little scary to someone can cause a whole big thing for someone else,
I’m scared to death when I hear keys or tags because we have almost been attacked 3 times..

@@TheWorkingRetrievers yes I’m so proud of how well roo did with that! She has a lot of trust in me so she was able to keep her back to the dog and not look back when it barked at her and alerted non stop!
Love how the lady said “yours shouldn’t either” like umm my dog is a real service dog doing her job!! She did amazing DPT and guided me out as soon as my body was able to walk, I’m so proud of the way she handled it and has handled similar experiences! I hate how we have to keep worrying about this happening tho...

I have a service dog IN TRAINING and I've been accused of having a "fake" multiple times for him looking at another dog or another person etc (which I redirect every time). This is because he is in training and does have slip ups from time to time, but I ALWAYS correct him or redirect his behavior, he's marked as IN TRAINING and I live in Colorado (where service dogs in training are protected under the same laws). He's made a lot of progress, is very well behaved, and I am currently going through a 2 year training program with him (we're 1.5 years into it). He has PA because he is 100% under my control.

    • @GalXZ42081
      @GalXZ42081 8 місяців тому +10

They are allowed to look at people and other dogs, just not allowed to lunge, bark, whine, fail to redirect. That's on the public access test. Providing they are under control of the handler and up to date on shots, Service Dogs in training have the same access rights as fully trained Service Dogs.

@oneechannel3366 It's problematic af. There's people out here trying to spot "fakes" that don't even know the ADA laws, harassing people with actual Service Animals. None of us are obligated to provide any proof or satisfy a strangers' intrusive curiosity, and distracting someone's Service Animal while they're on focus/task can cause them to miss an alert and present a very real and immediate danger to the handler.
As to owners and employees of any establishment you are in with your Service Animal, they are only allowed to ask two questions:
      "Is this a Service Animal?"
      and
"What task(s) is he/she trained to perform?"
They may NOT ask for documentation, require that the animal demonstrate it's tasks, or inquire as to the nature and details of your disability.
They can have a Service Dog Team removed regardless of authenticity if the animal is not within the handlers' control, there are not housebroken, or can not be redirected.

Oh jeez, that first clip was really scary ;-; Hope the handler was ok, that one nearly gave me a secondhand panic attack lol. The one with the lady in the motorized wheelchair was insanely annoying, it’d be her fault at that point if the dog attacked her. Regardless of the dog obviously being a fake, she was absolutely in the wrong to follow them around and harass them. Just report the dog/call the cops if the dog attacked yours or is interfering, and stay as far away from them as possible to keep your dog safe. Tailing them and escalating the situation like that is literally just begging for trouble. Idk if she had a dog with her or not, but if you have your own service dog, your dog’s safety is absolutely more important than views or confronting someone with a fake, regardless of how ignorant, rude, or annoying the people faking a service dog are. Some people drive me nuts smh

The lady in the motorized cart really pissed me off. Yes, the dog clearly wasn't a service dog (though, as far as fake SDs go, he wasn't as poorly behaved as many I've seen), but that doesn't give her the right to harass those people without the intent to educate. Had she approached them with the intent of explaining ADA law and explaining what service dogs do, that may have been different, but she clearly had no interest in educating and was only concerned with the "dangerous pitbull" that was in the store. Them calling their dog a personal attack dog didn't help the situation, however many dogs are trained in bitework and it's possible they were genuinely confused and thought a personal protection dog was considered a service dog. Both parties were in the wrong, but if the lady had approached the woman with the dog in a more polite manner, maybe there would be one less owner who thinks their dog qualifies as an SD.

They really need to learn the difference between them though, if that lady would have explained to them the ada law it would have probably fixed that issue. And the dog most likely isn’t a pit lol. American pit bull terriers are game dogs bred for hunting or taken by dog fighting rings for fighting.
No scars so not a fighting dog, and the dog isn’t showing much alertness or prey drive so most likely not a hunting dog.
It’s probably an American Staffordshire Bull terrier or American bulldog mutt, those dogs are called pits, buuut if you know what you’re looking for you can tell it isn’t the same. Amstaff was bred for the show ring since the akc refused to recognize the American pit bull terrier as the American bulldog.
I’mma leave it at that because this has nothing to do with the video oops.
TLDR American pit bull terrier history is interesting.

Go STRAIGHT to management. However, the dog wasn't exactly unfriendly, and didn't seem to be bothering anyone, so she really stepped out of line. Had it of been lunging, pulling excessively, showing signs of reactivity or aggression, that would have been a MAJOR difference, but it wasn't. As someone with a legit service dog, it's frustrating to see fakes, but it's even more frustrating to see discrinitory behavior, over a breed. Personally, my SD is mixed with pit. They're generally an amazing breed, when bred and raised right. Again, as correct as she was, it was still uncalled for, and to then pull the "I'm disabled" card to get her way, kinda made me mad. ESAs don't have public access rights, and are not task trained. (COMPLETELY different from a service dog) I would NEVER take her into a non pet friendly/service dog only place because I know better than to put ACTUAL service dogs and their handlers in danger.
My point is, if your animal helps you, then it's an ESA. So in a sense, ALL pets are emotional support animals. Your relationship is between you and your pet only. I got my dog registered so people would take ME more seriously, not my dog. You don't need fancy registration papers, to take it everywhere or try to pass it off as a service dog in order to "prove" that it's an ESA because only YOU can know the help it provides you.
It's important to make a very clear distinction between ESAs and service animals, while still acknowledging how important ESAs are to some people.

Service dog registration and why it won't work in the USA
Now you think we not only should have to go to the doctor for a RX for a service dog but go to a licensed trainer then go to a new government agency for the special vest or tag for the service dog?
There's already too few legitimate service dog trainers out there now.
Any vest or id tags will get forged at any rate. I mean there's fake passports and drivers licenses.
      -----------------
1] unfortunately that would make it harder for service dog handlers. In order to implement these things, they would first have to make the PROFESIONAL training of service dogs more uniform.
There would need to be trainers in every us city or town.
As all disabilities are different even with the same exact health issues making a one size fits all impossible. Each service dog is already trained for a spific person and their health issues.
      ---------
Like a standardized test that's not going to work as every disibility is different and even the many people who have the same disibility will have different symptoms at different levels and severity.
      -------
2] They would have to eradicate OWNER training and make only program and professionally trained service dogs legit.
      --
That would take the ability to gain a service dog from so many people who need them. If I needed a service dog I couldn't afford 20k plus for a trainer and another 20k plus for a program dog.
      ------
Instead of making it harder for disabled people businesses need to better educate themselves. They need to learn that IDs and Certificates aren't legitimate, that an ESA don't get public access and what actually constitutes kicking a team out.
      ---
There's ways to tell real service dogs from the fakes.
First ask the two questions that are legal.
      -----
      Q. What type of inquiries can be made about the use of a service animal?
      ---
      A. To determine if an animal is a service animal, a public entity or a private business may ask TWO questions:
      ------
      1) Is this animal required because of a disability?
1a] so the answer should be yes I need this service dog for my disabilities or disibility
      --------
      2) What work or task has this animal been trained to perform.
      2a] s/he is a guide dog
      It's trained to alert
      It's a mobility aide
[These are just examples of answers.]
      -----,
These inquires may not be made if the need for the service animal is obvious (e.g., the dog is guiding an individual who is blind or is pulling a person’s wheelchair.)
      ----
A public entity or private business may not ask about the nature or extent of an individual’s disability. --
They also may NOT require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained or licensed as a service animal, or require the animal to wear an identifying vest.
      -----
The second way to tell it's a legitimate service dog is to watch it work and by that I mean

      Where Service Animals Can Go
Generally, service animals are allowed to be with their person, even in places that don’t allow pets. For example, service dogs can go into:
      • Restaurants
      • Shops
      • Hospitals
      • Schools
      • Hotels
      ----
EXAMPLE: A restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating. A woman arrives at the restaurant with her service dog and asks to sit inside. The restaurant cannot require the woman to dine outside because of her service dog.
      --
The ADA also applies to certain types of housing, including:
      • Housing at public and private universities
      • Public housing programs run by state, county, and city governments
      • Emergency shelters

Walmart can ask to stop recording but you can immediately ask for management. It is considered private property because Walmart owns said property. It would be like some one recording in your home, they can but the moment you ask them to stop it has to end. As for the attack dog, the employee should of gotten a supervisor.

I think the woman in the motorized carts issue was it was a pitbull... yes I would he irritated that it was an attack dog but she continued to follow them throughout the store and harass them... just go to the store manager and complain, no need to follow them and make a scene and asking for papers... from what I know that person just hates pitbulls with a passion and that seems to be the motivator here... I love bully breeds personally, but I understand why people don’t. Just be respectful all around tho... leave if it’s that much of an issue

Thank you for posting these videos. Sadly, I feel like this is way more common lately. Because during and after covid I saw a lot of people with “emotional support dogs” walking into stores and the dogs would seem aggressive. But since they had service dog vests on, no employees ever approached them. And these people would say “it’s illegal to question the authenticity of a service dog” on the rare chance they were confronted. Just last week I went into a Walmart to buy eggs and a young lady had a “service dog” with her, and while it was a cute dog; I think it wasn’t legitimate. It was barking, growling, pulling it’s owner around, and it went potty on the floor. I’ve been doing some minor research because I’m now disabled and qualify for a service dog myself. And I’m glad people like you show me what to look out for when something like this happens. A lot of people are non-confrontational so I’m glad some people are standing up for those who can’t speak up for themselves. Thank you.

The girl that was harassing the lady with the pit bull was bothering me so much because she had no business to follow the people around the store harassing them specially sense the dog was behaving itself wasn't pulling or harming anything or anyone. I would absolutely request police involvement. Not to mention people like her are the reason I carry a camera on me. I'm so tired of people advocating for pitbulls, acting like they're just another type of dog, and have NO elevated risk of unprovoked, and VICIOUS attacks on unsuspecting, vulnerable people every day, in numbers that FAR outpace ANY other breed of dog out there.
People who try to destigmatize this breed are doing more harm than good to the animals, because they're causing uneducated people to drop their guard in public, and even worse, take pity on the breed and adopt one into their home as part of some crusade to devilify them in the public eye, and in the process they end up putting their families and neighbors at risk! And when one of these seemingly random, unprovoked attacks happen, and their beloved family pet freaks out and latches onto their 5 year old Daughter's face, permanently disfiguring, disabling, or KILLING them, they are the first to go on TV crying in interviews, talking about how, "he was such a loving family pet for so many years! We just can't believe he would DO something like this!" And they post photos of their child's face looking like ground hamburger meat to Facebook along with a GoFundMe link to help "save their little angel get the medical help she needs just to live a normal life again" and the one thing they NEVER do is take personal responsibility in these interviews, and admit they were WRONG.. and advocate and urge people to NEVER invite a dangerous breed of dog into their family home around their children. They never say, "people tried to warn us, but we didn't listen, because we thought we knew better because of the 20 minutes worth of "research" we did in that Pro-Pitbull Facebook Group that one afternoon. We saw all those short video montages set to emotional music, with clips of Pitbulls being gentle with babies, and we thought, well that settles it! Let's get the one breed of dog that is most notorious for randomly tearing children's faces off!
If you want to know which breeds of dog to NOT bring into your home with small kids, just go to your local Children's Hospital and talk to any of the ER nurses and ask them how many small children are brought in each year that were mauled by their family dog, and then ask which breed is most responsible for these attacks, you will find hands down without hesitation that they will say it was an pit bull (or some variation of one) and that it is USUALLY a family pet (not the stray pit down the street that was abandoned after being abused and use for illegal dog fighting.. that's a myth you hear a lot that it's not their fault, and the cases of unprovoked attacks you hear about give pitbulls a bad name because they are disproportionately bred and used for dogfighting by gangs and bad people, who then abandon them which means there it a lot of traumatized pitbulls roaming the streets, yada yada. That's just not true because the small percentage of these dogs that are still used for fighting don't get abandoned, they usually get killed in the ring and dumped on a dumpster or vacant lot by these scumbag people, they don't just retire vicious fighting dogs by releasing them to roam the alleyways looking for unsuspecting neighborhood children to eat.

I’m blind and I met up with one of my other friends who is blind at a mall near us. My friend had an older lady she made friends with in her apartment building drive her and she ended up staying with us at the mall. The lady had her little bichon frise whith her. She kept going back-and-forth between he’s a service dog and he’s an emotional support dog and my friend said she has papers for him if anyone asks. I was seriously tempted to confront this lady because the dog was not even remotely focused on her. He kept coming up to me when I would have anything in my hands and she wasn’t even telling him to leave it or to come back to her. I would ignore him because you’re not supposed to touch service dogs or pay them any attention. I’m glad I had a mask on because I probably wouldn’t have looked very happy with the situation. I am the one who caught him following some kids that were running around a store, and he didn’t even come back the first time she told him to. Even the store employees were giving him attention and she was not telling them that’s not OK. He didn’t bark or make any noise, he just was not behaving like a service dog should. I still haven’t told my friend how I feel about it because I don’t want her to think I’m being mean to her friend, but I think I should. Next time I see them I will try to muster up the courage to say emotional support animals are not allowed public access. I don’t have a guide dog so I don’t have any cards to give anybody, so that’s really all I can do and give them recommendations for these UA-cam channels.

On top of that, my previous bosses have said that the reason the ‘grunt workers’ (customer services) can only ask if it is a service dog is because if we were to slip up and ask the wrong question (even though most of us know the two questions allowed), then our workplace could be liable for refusing someone with a legitimate SD service. So, we are to call the managers if we see a dog misbehaving (pooping/peeing, lunging at people, etc) and they will come out and ask the questions.

Thank you for the education and posting this. However i feel that lady was blaming the breed of pitbulls and not the bad training just an opinion 😅

I agree ! She was more of a pitbull hater. yes the dog was fake but she mostly blamed the pitbull.

I don't like fake service dogs, but this lady is just rude. She needs to learn to mind her own business. One of these people might decide they don't like her tone. I bet that poor dog is embarrassed for her. He has more shame than her and he drinks from the toilet.

As a walmart employee i just wanted to say we are not allowed to talk to people with animals under any circumstances. Only management are allowed to approach a person with an animal.

Some people think that if they put a harness on their dog that says, “Service Dog” then their dog is automatically a Service Dog. Or because they bought a fake service dog license.

Honestly a lot of the handlers in this video are just as wrong as the fake ones because if you see a fake you turn tf around and don’t approach it.
If you approach a person with a fake you are putting your dog in danger and if anything happens that is your fault at that point

I’m like anyone else and I hate when people bring regular dogs and pretend them to be service animals but the lady at Walmart the dog did not lunch it did not bark it did nothing wrong and the lady with the service dog had to make sure she spoke up in front of everyone and caused a scene and that is also wrong. If the dog is doing absolutely nothing, then you shouldn’t cause a confrontation.
