Is it Possible to Pass Four FAA Exams In Just 3 Weeks?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 гру 2024
- Approximately 3 weeks ago, I decided to make a career change from business owner to professional pilot.
Given that I'm already 53, my first concern was that I might be too old. Thankfully, I did my research and found out that is definitely not the case. If you'd like to watch the video I create to explain my decision, click this link • Is 53 Too Old to Becom...
Shortly after making the first video, I learned that not only am I not too old, but thanks to recent significant increases in pilot wages, that it's actually possible to hit six figures right from the start as a first officer. I created this video ( • My Plan to Earns Six F... ) to explain the details of my plan.
Much to my surprise, the video titled "My Plan to Earns Six Figures as a Pilot within 18 Months - Starting at Age 53" went viral and garnered over 50,000 views in just a few days!
After reading through nearly 1000 comments, I noticed that quite a few people were asking me for details on how I'm planning to fast track my training and get it all done in just 4 months...and todays video is to explain my approach to taking the FAA exams.
I hope you like it! Please leave your comments/questions down below, ok?
Thank you!!

I’m 48 and looking forward to taking the same journey you’re on.. Let’s do this!!
Absolutely!
45 and started the journey in January with my 21 yr old son. He has a lot further to go, I was a military helicopter guy.
I'm very jealous.
.
41 and trying my best to get started as soon as possible. Can anyone offer any advice at all on trying to find funding for training? My younger brother and I would be forever in your debt! Congratulations to all of my future fellow airmen and airwomen. I pray to see all of you in the air soon! Faster, Further, Higher!
I wasn't sure if I could finish all of my exams before starting at Thrust Flight next month, but you made me realize I only need to step my game up! Thanks, Trent.
You’re welcome! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It all helps my channel to grow and help more guys/gals like us!!
Great job Trent. I remember studying for may A&P exam the same way. This was back in 1994 and we were the first class that the online exam was available for. Basically just studied the test, you had 3 to take, airframe, powerplant and a general. Best way to pass an FAA exam! Good luck in flight school, I'm retiring next year and wasn't sure what I was going to do next, your inspiring me to get back into flying!
Thanks for watching my video and posting some words of encouragement. Much appreciated!
I'm a 51 year old Cybersecurity / Technology entrepreneur. Tried military pilot but told too tall at 6'2+. Then started flight school in 2001 where my first ride with instructore was to be the evening on 9/11. go figure. Then life happened and knew I couldn't become an airline pilot because I did not have a degree. But seeing your videos and knowing they relaxed the stance on education, I have now decided to start heading towards my dream of being an airline pilot. I study and test extremely well and know I can do what you've shown can be done. Just wanted to say thank you and your videos are near perfect with timing and quality. I will continue to watch and wish the best of luck to you and to the rest of the knuckleheads on these postings. As @altboy3143 says, "Let's do this!"
Hey Jeff! Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! i really appreciate you taking a moment to comment! i read every commemt personally 🙌
I'm a CPL helicopter pilot moving to Canada in the coming weeks and this study method is what I've been using for my conversion exams. Congrats on all you've accomplished so far!
Thx! You, too!
I was 53 when I passed my PPL Checkride last October. I am currently working on my instrument rating (part time). Sadly Sheppard Air does not have a Private Pilot test prep as you mentioned so I used Sportys as well. Now for my instrument and later commercial, I will be using Sheppard for test prep. Sportys videos are great and they will better prepare you when get in the plane but not so well in preparing for the exams. I want to recommend PilotEdge for X-Plane and MSFS 2020. This gives you live ATC which is a critical skill to learn. Now is a great time to get into aviation. Good luck and looking forward to future videos!
Dauntless has a good PPL test prep that is similar in concept to Sheppard (see all the questions), but best to learn “How they got the answer”… but very helpful for those wrote-memorization questions. Cheers!
Agree on all counts! Thank you for watching
You're giving me great encouragement at 33 years old at only 30hrs. I'll likely use the same ways you studied for IFR and beyond. Even at this age I felt for a while that I was "too late" to get into flying as a job. But after every flight I want to be a commercial pilot more and more. And seeing your last video it's just a huge confidence boost that this a good career path to be on. Thanks!
Happy I could be of some help. Thank you so much for watching my video!
That’s so great. 33 is pretty young. I’m in my 40’s and feel the clock ticking. There is such a great need for pilots. I think it’s a great time to be in aviation.
It sure is!
Your flight sim setup is interesting and worth a video. Because 8 watched your video, UA-cam has introduced me to several others starting their PPL journey. You are by far the most organized and confident. You are also the only one I would love to see you in the cockpit of the flight I’m on.
Hey Tom… Thank you so much for the very kind words about my content! It means a lot to me.
Trent, im inspired by you! 52 with 169 hrs, ppl, inst, started comm, but hung it up in 2005 when we had our second child. Post 9/11 regional pay, and flight instructing wasnt going to cut it raising a family. Scheduling my 1st class medical to see if this is a viable dream! Go get it!!
Hey Marc...Thanks for watching my video and leaving a comment!
Hey Trent great stuff! My name is Russ, I currently work as a Regional Controller for SkyWest. 3 things I want to say, number1: Good luck in flight school, hopefully the weather cooperates and you have every opportunity to get out and fly everyday. 2: Your are correct with you opinion about SkyWest, it is a fantastic company to work for and is the best regional hands down. They invest in your success every day in every way. 3: I talk to pilots all day and while I help them with there issues I always tell them that they have the greatest job in the world. I also tell them that if I was younger I would go that route. When I tell them how old I am every single one says the same thing, “you’re not too old”. I plan on starting my training in September of this year and staying with SkyWest, by the way I’m 55 and will turn 56 in October, can’t wait. Best of Luck, God Bless!
Hey Russell… I spoke at length with Joe Anderson today. If you’ve been with Skywest for a few years, I’m guessing you know who he is? He was super helpful! All the best in your journey.!
As you and others have said - You are never too old.
I'm 58, and last year I finished my Master's. I'm now considering a PhD program.
As you move into the higher licenses and me into (maybe) a Ph.D. At our age, we can be successful. We won't end up continuing for 30 years like the younger crowd. Yet, we can still fulfill that itch - constant learning - wanting to achieve something greater than ourselves.
I hope you do push into our aging future... Never stop reaching for the Stars - even if we only get to the moon.
Well said!
I'm 48 and going through the same process. Really enjoy your content. Loom forward to flying with you some day 🙂
Hey Steve… Thank you for watching my video. I have to admit, it would be super cool to walk into the cockpit one day and have my copilot tell me that he watched my content on UA-cam.
10 - 12 hrs a day! that puts things into perspective of what it takes to achieve challenging feats. Thanks for the vid, Trent!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Trent, congrats on your new and exciting adventure, simply AWESOME!! I too am doing exactly the same thing as you. I’m 54 and start an accelerated part 141 flight program called, Sling Pilot Academy, out of KSEE in two weeks. I also like you completed 5 FAA exams using Sheppard Air(the best study program) and plan on using my sim during the majority of my downtime as well. I just wanted to wish you all the best with your mission and can totally relate, seeing how our paths are extremely similar. I look forward to following your progression and wanted to thank you for all of the inspiration and amazing content. Let’s do this Brudah!!!! Please take great care of yourself and stay healthy, safe and blessed. David Elliott
Hey David… Wow… You’re right, we are on a very similar path. Thank you for watching my video, and I wish you all the best with your journey. Please continue to provide updates in the comments of my future videos.
Learning a lot over a short amount of time is not as good for long-term retention as learning little-by-little over a longer period of time. But, with your anticipated flight schedule, the critical information will come up over and over again, which will help a lot for long-term retention. Things you might forget are random things like emergency transponder codes; basically stuff that just doesn’t come up a lot in day-to-day flying.
Agreed!
Im only 21 but I came across your videos and it’s solidified my drive to become an airline pilot! I was planning to pay my PPL out of pocket and then loan out the rest and speed run through it. And your videos have been a great help
Glad to hear it!
Hi Trent. Congrats on your decision to follow your dreams. You're never too old (as long as you pass the medical of course.) I'm also a 53 yr old Canadian pilot (Vancouver) and have been flying for fun since 1988. I think you're doing it right. I always advise people who inquire about flight training to give the cash to the flying school, go hard on the ground school so you have the theory down, then fly at least twice a day once you start flying. It's a great way to retain what you learn in the airplane. I also have been using MSFS since version 2 and it has been a huge help. I'd also recommend filming your flights inside the cockpit with audio over the intercom as it makes a great way to review what went right and what went wrong. Best of luck and I'll keep watching to see how you make out. Blue Skies!
Thanks so much for watching my video and leaving such a helpful comment! I will definitely be filming from watching the cockpit and posting a lot of that to UA-cam in the near future. Good to hear from another Canadian. I grew up in Langley and lived in Vancouver for a significant portion of my life.
@@trent_dyrsmid Good to hear from a fellow Westerner too. If you're ever back up in the neighborhood let me know. Can go for a ride in my Glasair! Cheers.
That sounds like fun. Please send me a DM on Instagram so I have your contact info.
Your videos are a staple of information for me. Thank you for making them. I'm in the beginning stages of starting. So far, I got my Medical 1
Step 1: check!
@trent_dyrsmid Thank you 😊 I've shown my fiance your videos and she watches them with me
Cool! 🙌🙌
Just wanted to pop in and say thank you for doing these videos. They are quite helpful and encouraging. I’m on a similar path friend. I’m forty-eight years old and about to complete my private pilot training. And I’d like to say that you’re absolutely right about flight simming to supplement your training. I’ve built myself a home simulator cockpit running xplane11. The simulator has been… instrumental… to my progress 😉keep up the good work and thanks again 👨✈️👍
Hey David… Thank you so much for watching my video. If you look on my channel, you will find a video where I give a tour of my simulator. I think I have spent about 20,000 bucks on the damn thing.
You just sold me on Sheppard Air I’m 70% through Sportys on instrument and yeah I’m thinking Sheppards is a better option! Super proud of your hustle keep it up and thanks for sharing your journey!
Congrats on the progress! Keep on truckin! I’m just about to do my 2nd IFR flight today. Plus two sessions in the sim. I’m going to sleep like the dead tonight!!!
Thank you for the great videos. Ive been flying helicopters for over 20 years and never got around to getting my instrument cert. ( life just got in the way). I am told that I am an over thinker when it comes to taking FAA exams. I am going to take the leap and get my instrument cert now. I stubbled onto your channel and " MAN, " I was impressed what you are doing with your channel and your quest to help others. Thank You SOOO much
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment!
Trent, you have been super inspirational and glad I was able to find your page! I’m 28 years old shutting down my excavation business and pursuing aviation! It has been a childhood dream of mine to become an airline pilot. I am already using Sporty’s and plan on having all my exams complete before I start flight school this coming May!
You can do it! Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment!
Trent, I'm right down the road from you in Mountain Home, I'm a crew chief on the Strike Eagles out there. I'm currently working on my PPL and A&P and I'm looking to do something similar to what you're doing. Thanks for helping us guide the way, I'm right behind you, I turn 50 soon and I'd love to be a regional pilot based in Boise! Keep up the great content!
Hey Neighbor… Thank you so much for watching my video, and I wish you all the best on your journey as well!
By the way, can you get me a ride in a fighter jet?? :)
Yo Travis! I have some military connections for you if you need them.
I can't get you a ride, but if you ever want to see a Strike Eagle up close when you get back, let me know! I'm looking forward to future videos!
Roger that! Could you DM me on Instagram so that I have your contact info? And when you send a message, please reference the comment on UA-cam so I can connect the dots between the two platforms. I’m getting an off a lot of messages these days and it’s hard to know which is which.
I taught an A&P course for several years. SAME method. AQA. Answer Question Answer. 3 times. Now you’ve seen the answer 6X. Used same method for commercial instrument multi AGI. Dispatcher. Works every time Chearing you on my brother! Never too late!
Thanks so much!!
I’m 50 and just getting back into flying after a 23 year hiatus. You are giving me hope! Only wish I could take the time off from work and do it all at one time. 5 years till retirement tho….
Hey Bryan… Thank you so much for watching my video and leaving a comment!
Brother, I just came across your channel! I'm 52 years old and on the same path! I have a Commercial Multi-Engine, and Instrument rating, but haven't flown in a very long time (Life, family , career). I'm getting ready to retire from the NY City Fire Department and about to work on my CFIs! Will love to fly for the Airlines seeing that I still have a lot left in me! 😂 This channel was all the encouragement I needed! Looking forward to more content! Good luck!
Welcome aboard! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It all helps my channel to grow and help more guys/gals like us!!
Starting flight school 1week of September and been stressing about my written tests so thank you for the video. I’m 30 and still working full time. Wish me luck!
You got this!
It’s never too late man, inspiring brother
Thx!
Hey Trent, I'm 35 looking to make the transition into flying for a career. Your videos give me hope. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing on UA-cam with us.
Eric… My pleasure. Thank you so much for watching!
I’m a 38 year old Corporate Cog…tired of the grind…time to chase the dream! I’ve begun the journey of researching the best approach for me! Your videos are super helpful. Thank you.
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
Great video! I am coming at this from a different angle - eeeeeeverybody and their dog told me I was too old to become a doctor in my late 30s, but I did it anyway.
Now I want to get my private pilot's license, always figured it was too late. Thanks to your inspiring videos, I have realized that if you can get your commercial license in your mid-50s, then I damned sure ought to be able to get my private license and become an Aviation Medical Examiner!
Thanks so much for your valuable insights.
The only time it’s too late is when you’re dead. Thank you so much for watching my video and leaving a comment! Best of luck to you on your journey.
Damn my guy you are doing something I could not imagine…
Because I always thought as we get older chances of becoming an airline pilot, big carriers especially, will become more and more slim to almost impossible to get into the airline… you definitely gave me some courage here thanks man..
I’m 25 struggling to plan my future hahaha
Thx!
I love your videos…I’m 48 and started the same journey. Thank you for this!
Hey Jerry! Welcome to the fly with Trent community. Thank you so much for watching my video and leaving a comment!
Hey I’m 36 and was thinking about retiring from my current career to become a pilot! I thought I might be too old. So glad to see us older folks taking the leap and going for it.
Hey Ashley! Go for it :)
I am retired at 47. Honestly watching your journey to see if it would work for me as a second career. Keep up the great work.
Hey James… Good work on retiring by 47! Clearly, you did a few things right along the way. You were in a prime position to do what I am doing.
This all works if you already have the hours and the rest of your life is set, house paid for, family good with it, big bank accounts, etc... Getting there sucks you dry. I learned the hard way, older than you. I'm an academic ace and an example of physical fitness, just not financially able to go all the way. An instrument rated, 350 hour guy at 56 is gonna have a hard time. Good luck on your endeavors!
I agree, my hurdle is the expense to fly lol. Just taking it one day at a time I guess. Got ppl and me so far. Almost at cpl. then will do IFR and cfi.
Thx!
Nice, Im 55 and going for my ATP also. I have my private pilot checkride in 7 days but Im already working on the commercial and instrument portions of the training! Good luck in your adventure!
🙌 thats terrific! Blue skies ahead!
Trent, thanks a lot for this content. I just passed my PPL checkride and am looking to make the career switch at 25. Your videos are giving me a lot of inspiration and are helping me in formulating a solidified plan for the switch. Thank you and please keep them coming!
You can do it! Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It all helps my channel to grow and help more guys/gals like us!!
I achieved my PPL at 57. Working on my CFI, CPL and CFI currently.
I use X-Plane 11 for instrument approaches but more importantly, I use PilotEdge or make sure I am doing them correctly .
PilotEdge is real time ATC with live communication in-game. They will call you out if did not follow a clearance or blow through the localizer.
Good luck.
Thx!
Excellent tutorial! Thanks! I am 62 yrs old and preparing to attend flight training from zero to commercial. All I have in my bag is heavy hours as a flight engineer and the A&P license, age is not a factor at all as long as you can pass the FAA medical. By the way I keep my first class always current! Keep up the good work!
Thanks!!
This is great congratulations it’s never to late never to old!!!
Right?! Thank you very much for watching my video.
You are very inspirational! I’ve been in the US Army for 10 years and I plan of getting out next year to pursue a aviation career. All I can think about is that I’m getting into it too late at 28 years old but you are definitely showing me I’m not getting into it too late. Keep up the hard work I am definitely rooting for you. I won’t be to far behind you.
Thanks so much for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment with words of encouragement!
Yo. I have the resources for you as an army guy as well. Let me know if you want to connect.
Resources?
@@IlPinnacolo I have a packet complete I scored a 80 on the SIFT and I was going to submit it but getting out and flying just seems like a better way for life
.
I am trying to do the same thing. I can't wait to see this play out. I am 46 and just started my commercial. Can't wait to quit my day job
I hear ya! Thank you so much for watching my video.
Good advice Hi, is similar to my FAA A&P exams. I was able to pass two of my exams (general & airframe) while finishing my last block in school after I used two days to study 1006 questions to pass 100 question test on power-plant written. Congratulations 🍾🎉🎊 on passing
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It all helps my channel to grow and help more guys/gals like us!!
lol thanks for clarifying. The whole first part of the video I'm like "he wrote the exam?" I'm in school for my ADX and have my PPL and Instrument. Awesome journey sir. Enjoy the ride.
Hey Nick… Yeah, that caused a lot of confusion, lol. Thank you so much for watching the video and leaving a comment.
My man!! Loving the content! Inspiring and enviable.
Having only 16 at hrs and turning 40 in less than a week this makes me want to buckle down 1000% harder.
I’m not being a debbie downer here, but more a voice of caution on the very lofty goal of 30 hrs flight time per week.
I restarted flight training 3 weeks ago and there’s only been legitimately about 20 hours of viable legal flight time. Weather is going to be the bane of your goals existence. But don’t let that BS deter you or discourage you.
I look very much forward to new content from you as you progress in your goal. Perhaps one day l can F/O for you!!
This right here has been a direct reflection of my log book entries since February
Hey moose… Thank you for watching my video and taking a moment to share your thoughts. Much appreciated! That would be super cool if we ended up flying together someday, lol.
My uncle has lived in PIT my whole life (I think his as well) and “wrote” his tests as well. The only time outside of your vids I’ve personally heard the term as such.
🙌🙌
I can't wait to tune to this subscription on a regular¡
You got my attention within the first ten seconds of this video. Your a pure honesty and appreciative 'old man'; the repeat ” let me begin, im going to begin by..." You've already began bro😅
Lets get it, focus on the focus!!!!!
Thanks mate!
Awesome! Thank you!
Finally managed to find the video that I have been looking for.
1.Exam practice approach: sporty’s pilot training. And, Sheppard Air.
2.Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Impressive you got the CAX done. I'm taking my time with that one. I got IRA, IGI, and IFI done last month. See ya in the skies soon.
Hey James… You bet! Thank you for watching my video!
Appreciate the info 🙌🏻
Any time!
Nice video! I'm studying for my instrument written (again... 2nd time taking it because my 1st one timed out...), so based on your recommendation I'll try the Sheppard Air this time (did Sporty's the last time). I'd love to go professional too, but at 62 I think I'm too old for the airlines. But, maybe corporate?
I use X-Plane 12 with PilotEdge and fly lots of approaches to rainy minimums. I also have RealSimGear GTN650 and autopilot boxes. Wonderful setup!
Hi Craig… Thank you so much for watching my video. Your set up sounds awesome!
Good job man, 39 year old EASA ME CPL and IFR pilot here, got my FAA license this January, took 4 days on Sheppard Air for the IFR exam (97%), finished all the minimum requirements and checkride 6 days later. Took 4 days on Sheppard Air for the commercial (93%) and then the Multi Commercial checkride about a week later….. a lot of work, up to 10 hours flying per day.
Next up find a way to get a work visa in the USA 😁
Good work!
You are amazing and go for it ! Your plan is achievable!!!
I talked with the ex chief pilot for sky west airlines today for 90 minutes. He said exactly the same thing.
@@trent_dyrsmid Good to hear that.
.
Great Job Trent! Keep crushing it- it’s never too late to chase your dreams!
Thanks Mark!
Great stuff I’m turning 20 soon these tips can help me too. I just finished my private pilot.
👊 that is fantastic. Congrats! Blue skies ahead :)
Good job but it is generally understood that the learning process works best when stretched over time with constant reinforcement exercises. "Cramming" as you describe here will pass the test, but unless you have some incredible gift for retention or memory, most folks will tend to forget the content over the following weeks unless the material is revisited periodically. Again: good job, but I hope that the knowledge sticks over time. Thanks for the insight!!
I never stopped studying. Still do it to this day.
Very inspiring! Good luck on your journey!
Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to share your thoughts! 🙌
I’m 43 now and got a 93 on m kings school prep for Private. I also got a 93 on my instrument using Sheppard air. I also took the FII (instrument instructor) and IGI tests (instrument ground instructor) all the same day. Yes, I took all 3 instrument tests off studying just the IRA exam on Sheppard for instrument. Only difference on the IGI was a single helicopter question.
I got 93, 98 and 92 on all those.
I now just took my commercial pilot (CAX) test and got a 95 with Sheppard Air.
Sheppard is the key. It’s still good to use King schools (my preferred) or sportys ground school videos to understand more in depth but Sheppard prepares you directly for the exam.
I have also passed my private and instrument check rides. Now I can just focus on my commercial checkride.
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. It all helps my channel to grow and help more guys/gals like us!!
Working on my commercial written and I have to say, Sheppard air has a really good study method. Good luck!
Thanks Max, same to you!
Awesome. Really looking forward to your next motivational video.
Thanks Dan!
I really appreciate your videos with each one I watch I’m motivated that much more
Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
I wanted to hear the way you got those tests out of the way...impressive and very informative. I wish you the best and I will kindly waiting for those videos. Thanks.
Thanks so much!
Funny enough I am a project manager and have been wanting to get out of the industry and do both real estate and looking to get my ppl biggest concern has been my salary glad to see you approach it analytically gives me hope I can make the switch as well
You can if you want it bad enough!
Awesome video. Look forward to seeing you in the sky
Thank you!
youre great trent. keep it up man 🔥
Thanks, you too!
Good stuff keep putting out new and useful tools for the community.
Thanks, will do!
I’m 40. About to retire from the Air Force. And I really want to fly. Please please please keep posting you are literally paving the path for me to follow as well. Looking forward to your next videos
I have a question. When you take the exams do you have to complete the flying portion within a certain timeframe? I have two years left on my military service commitment. If I WROTE the exams now would they somehow expire if I didn’t fly until a few years later?
Hey Eric… Thank you so much for watching my video. I’m sharing your thoughts. I’m going to creat many more videos yet.
I’m following your videos and I love them. I am 49 and I had exactly the same dream and interest as you, I still do but it’s no longer reality for me. Few months ago I texted you about waiting for my medical approval since February. I finally got my answer 2 days ago. They called me to talk to me actually. I have to say my dream got shuttered in a way. After 10 months of communication with FAA by mail they called me that they will approve me for level 3 medical and for me to continue with my training. Based on my flight hrs they will be able to upgrade it to the level 2 , but I’ll probably won’t get level 1. So here is where I’m at. I lost 10 months and of course I stopped flying pending my approval. I didn’t want to waste bunch of money on flying if my medical wasn’t going to be approved. Anyway I’m not giving up yet. I start my studying and flying again. Who knows maybe with some miracle one day I’ll get level 1 medical. Wish me luck, I sure wish you all the best! You’re definitely proving people wrong and giving the rest of us hope. This is also why I’ll continue do everything in my power to try get the level 1.
I’m so sorry to hear that you did not yet get your first class medical. I love your positive attitude, and I wish you all the best in the pursuit of your goal!
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy learning the details about your training. Currently working on the writtens myself.
Thanks for watching my video and best of luck to you when taking your exams!
I'm on the same path but i've just turned 63. this was inspiring. 1 thing I was wondering about and hope you've investigated is insurance. recently i heard a flight school laid off their head instructor becuase of the insurance cost. that insturctor is mid 70s, has 40K hours, flew for American and is a great instructor - i know because i've flown with him. So now i'm worried this may be a lot of work for nothing if i can get forced out of the game due to rising insurance cost because of my age. My path was looking at bercoming either an instrument instructor or tail dragger instructor. also looking at the mapping flying or cargo flying.
Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment! I read every commemt personally 🙌
Re insurance, that isn’t something I’m an expert in.
Excellent video! I enjoy your videography approach - clean, professional, and easy (pleasant) to watch.
You are a machine studying in your described manner. As an educator, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. However, it worked for you and probably several other HIGHLY (overly) MOTIVATED people.
Overall, good on ya - getting your licenses and your UA-cam success. I'm now a convert, adding you to my go-to channels.
Thanks for watching! And thanks for the kind words about my work!
Your so sweet
Thank you
Super excited to begin
Thanx 2U
You are so welcome. Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
Keep in mind on practical test they will grill you on all those exam questions. Personally I don’t retain stuff for long if I just cram it. But wow, my hat down to you sir for being so focused and able to study 12 hrs a day for that long. And yes, I agree, sim is excellent tool to keep the procedures fresh. Also may I recommend pilots edge or similar for more immersive experience with real ATC controllers.
I am planning to sign up for pilots edge. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. Thank you very much for watching my video.
I’d love to see a video on the school you chose and why you chose it. I’m in a similar boat trying to get things done quickly and my current school is taking what seems like forever to make progress.
Hey Nick… Thank you so much for watching my video. The school I chose is full and has asked me to stop mentioning them in my UA-cam videos because their phone was ringing off the hook. The school was recommended to me by my mentor. With that said, there are many great schools in North America.
@@trent_dyrsmid I sure hope they are not full for CFI.
Dunno
I’m in the private pilot stage but studying for the CAX (already knocked out the PAR, IRA and FII). I’m also in the SkyWest program with ya!
Sweet! Feel free to DM me on Instagram. And if you do, please screenshot your comment or retype the comment in the direct message so I can connect the dots.
Well sir, I must take my hat off for you. I'm also Canadian who did my PPL in PHX, AZ and my IFR and CPL in Florida. Cheaper, faster and converted it to Transport Canada easily. The downside about Canada is the long painful waiting times to get a medical, booking a conversion test and had to wait 3 month afterwards to get my Canadian CPL IR.
Make sure you get your CPL multi add on in USA. In Canada, you have to do 2 rides for the multi alone. 1st ride to get Initial Multi group 3(Multi VFR), then another ride to get multi group 1 which is the multi ifr.
Hope that helps. I support your work.
Hey Charlie… Thank you so much for watching my video! Love all the good info in your comment. In my case, there is no plans to return to Canada. I have been living in the states for 14 years.
What schools in the US did you study at?
@@Kiwi_Pilot Westwind School of Aeronautics Phx AZ for my PPL.
Flying Academy Miami for my IFR in KTMB. Pilot Training Center in Opa Locka KOPF for my Commercial.
.
I've been stuck at 70-75 for a week. I'm going to focus on doing the individual sections three times over like you said. Thank you.
You got this!
@@trent_dyrsmid he'll yeah I do. Thank you sir
🙌
I would like to see your flight sim setup and maybe some links for all the equipment. Liking all the videos you’ve posted so far.
Hey Thomas...I've just created an Amazon store with links to my products: www.amazon.com/shop/flywithtrent?ref=ac_inf_tb_vh
And regarding my flight sim, I have a video tour here: ua-cam.com/video/WZeeKeQM6Ks/v-deo.html
Thank you for your videos. Very inspirational and informative. I have resolved to at least get my PPL training completed this year. Keep up the good work and best of luck. I’ll be following along.
Hey Ryan… I am so happy to have you following along watching my videos. Thank you so much!
Beautiful content dear Trent !
Thank you kindly!
Hey Trent, So glad to have come across your channel. I am currently studying and working on all my ground school. My plan is to knock out as many FAA written exams as possible before hopefully starting flight training in the Spring. It was very encouraging listening to you share your experience! Keep up the good videos!
Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
Great Job, very motivating!!
Thx!
I used Sporty's, Gleim, and the free King practice questions to prep for my commercial written. I scored a 100%. My approach was not quick, but I was afraid that Sheppard Air would just teach me how to pass the test. And yes, I overprepared and wasted a lot of time, but I wanted to ace just ONE of these blasted FAA exams in my life.
Good job!!
Love how invested you are in your training! It sounds like youll be at the airlines in no time. I'm writing my cfi lesson plans right now - checkride is out in November but definitely excited to move onto the next step!
🙌 thats terrific! Blue skies ahead!
Loving the content! On my quest to find a good ground school I found your videos and to my surprise Sheppard air doesn’t sell a ground school program. They list free resources to pass the privet pilot test!! Thought this might be useful for other students just starting out
Yea….Sheppard in ONLY for prep for FAA written tests.
Thanks for sharing this info!!!
You’re welcome!
now that's called focus focus . well done
Thx!
I have a Commercial Rating and I think it's incredible that you took 3 exams in 3 weeks. Wow, impressive.
Thx! It was a LOT of work!
Yes, It's possible. I did it. Private, Commercial and Instrument writtens the same week back in the 90's. Lot's of carry over back then. New testing standards now though.
Hey Wade… Thank you so much for watching my video and taking a moment to leave a comment.
Hey Trent I just want to say thank you.
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment!
Great job!!! I’m 46 and I run this way
Thanks for watching my video and posting some words of encouragement. Much appreciated!
Thank you for your video.
You are welcome
super informative. cheers
Glad it was helpful!
Love your work Trent 🛫👮🏻♂️✈️🇺🇸👍🏻 keep it up brother 🙌🏻
Thanks 👍
Really great content!! Professionally I am a registered nurse with my bachelors in science and nursing working in the intensive care unit for 6 years, currently 30 years old and have been pursuing a life flight nurse position (very competitive and mostly in rural areas with no increase in pay). I have gone on a couple of ride alongs and absolutely love the feeling and freedom of flying and recently had an epiphany. What if I just learn to fly? So for the past week or so have been on a deep dive into research on becoming a commercial pilot and came across your channel. I really can say your approach has put fire under me to start the journey!
Kagen….that is fantastic! I’m excited for you! Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
Best of luck to you. I admire your aspirations, really I do. There is a lot more to flight training than just the FAA tests. I hope to see you on the flight line someday! ;-)
Thanks Brad!
Doing exactly the same thing you are… need to take my PPR in a week so I can start studying the other tests. Having a problem with the VOR To/From 😅 tryna cram though. Thanks for the inspiration
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for watching and taking a moment to comment! 🙌
With flying 5 hours a day plus sim time on top of that, don't be surprised if you have relentless "flying dreams" at night. Any time I fly evening flights, something about the brain simulation plus the inner ear disturbance has my brain looping on flying approaches/landings for several hours that night.
Ha! I can relate. I am careful to shut the computer off by 9 PM so that when 10 o’clock rolls around, I can fall asleep. I also wear blue light blocking lenses inside my VR headset.
Would love to see a video of your sim set up
There is already one on my channel. Thanks for watching my video!
dude wth you do not look 53 lmaoo. Im getting into flying at 36 but i literally thought you were mid 40s . awesome journey brother best of luck you got this
Thanks!
