The neck is an easy fix. Use 600 grit sandpaper smooth it out and use beeswax on it and hand polish it. It’ll be one of the best feeling necks you’ve had. It’s a great platform for modification. Depending on how crazy you want to get it could be very interesting. Lightweight tuners and a hi mass bridge would help with the neck dive. I’ve thought about adding more pickups to it. We’ll see I’ve got other projects to begin and complete first.

I’m a drummer that regrets selling my Squier vintage modify jazz bass to my brother! My other regret with my super short fingers and hands is not buying the discontinued short scale version of this bass that was 200 but nail cells used for over 400 😂😢 So, this bass is like a bit bigger than SC but smaller than standard?

The piece i got was made in their Indonesian factory and the neck is amazing! a mark or two in the wood grain/finish that didn't come off but it just makes you wanna play the damn thing! Smooth, comfortable, no sharp fret ends or protruding skunk stripe, no buzz and as good a truss rod as you ever need. Tuning stability's great too so I'm gonna change the pickup and electronics out and it's a sure winner!

Jonny, - your honesty is refreshing; - we need more reviews like this. While I may not agree with you on some points, - others will benefit by taking note of what you do like and don't like about this bass. Several years ago, I had Warmoth build me a G4 body with a Stingray pickup in what the they call the "sweet spot" position; - a little bit further back than the Jaguar H but not in the standard Stingray closer to the bridge location. It had a meatier sound than a J-Bass or Stingray yet more clarity than a Precision. Of note: the bass was a long-scale instrument and the pickup was a Bartolini MMC Stingray replacement. That may also have contributed to the sound and tone of the bass. Thanks again for your presentation. Cheers!

Hi Jonny - and thank you for your GREAT channel! I have Squire Classic Vibe Jaguar Bass (I actually have TWO of them!). The body on the Classic Vibe version is very very slightly bigger than the Affinity Jag Bass, and the body is made of different wood. As a result, the Squire Classic Vibe Jaguar bass has ZERO neck-divce and seems to be PERFECTLY balanced. I LOVE the Classic Vibe Jag bass and have always been curious about how the Affinity plays and sounds. Thanks for your EXCELLENT review!

At that price point it offers a decent beginner’s bass or perhaps even an interesting modding platform. Mind you, I don’t like excessive neck dive and I am amazed that in today’s high tech world it has not been eliminated at all price points. We can put businessmen in space but can’t balance a bass on a strap. I thought the sounds were basic but usable and certainly not bad.

I bought the limited edition in orange metallic colour. This bass is awesome how it is made. I had lots of classic vibe basses but the build quality of this gem is absolutely premium. The neck is superb, the action is awesome. The frets are well refined and mounted on the keyboard. I have nothing to complain for the assembly, and the colour is really mind-blowing. The only weak part I think it's, as usual, the electronic and the pickup: it's a little too muddy to me with the tone 100% closed. I think I'll replace it with an Italian handmade one I know and I'll upgrade the electronic with vintage pots and an orange drop capacitor. The other upgrade I might do is to add a 3 way switch to get parallel/series/single configuration. Will see... Nice and exhaustive video as usual!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️

Great review. It’s my first bass, I’ve had it about 5 months. I got injured about 2 months ago and been stuck in bed while I’m learning to walk again. So this bass has got me through it and kept me busy and helped tremendously. I’ve wondered why I’m not getting some of the tones I’m used to hearing, and realized the pickup is pretty strange compared to other models. I haven’t really played anything else so I don’t have much to compare it to, but I probably spend 6-8 hours a day on it right now haha. I’m sure once I get out and pick up a higher end bass it’ll blow my mind. But for now i dig it, and gives me something to look forward to and positive to focus on.

I have a Jaguar H and absolutely love it; I bought it to mod and it now has an EMG pickup, an MMHZ. I have mever noticed the feel of the skunk stripe on the back of the neck so I can't verify that. Neck dive, yes that's an issue but a good strap alleviated that to a large degree. I can't say how I like the stock pickup, I didn't have it on long but it didn't impress me. But with the MMHZ I really like the sound. I find myself playing this bass more and more for practice.
My main bass is a Fender Player Jaguar, in all black with an ebony fretboard, and I just love that bass.

I just ordered one of these because I have VERY small hands but have found that a longer neck makes for a more comfortable wrist position, so I decided to grab one of these since they're on sale. But Re: neck dive. I actually deal with this with my Fender Mustang. I like to play with my neck angled upward and the Mustang just doesn't like to stay put in that position. Most players probably wouldn't notice the neck dive. OK, so what to do about neck dive if you don't want to mod your bass (I probably eventually will)... You know that annoying New Age chick who is always trying to give you crystals to ward off negative energy? Yeah, let her load you up with all the black tourmaline, smoky quartz and pyrite she wants to give you. Ask her for some drawstring pouches, trust me, she'll have them. Fill the pouch with rocks. Lash the drawstring through the buttonhole on the back end of your strap, then lash the pouch to your strap with a velcro tie so it isn't wang dang dooldling off the end of your button. You'll have a bit of extra weight to counter that headstock without having to spend the money modding your instrument, and your friend will have gotten rid of those crystals she made the mistake of buying by the pound and now doesn't know what to do with...

Interesting take on this bass. I got this same bass this week. Love the lake placid blue. There is some neck dive, but not too bad with a good strap, way better balance than any thunderbird.
The build quality and fit/finish on are great on mine. After tweaking the truss an 1/8th turn and adjusting the bridge a little the action is perfect. The fretwork is great
The pickup is solid, very hot output but has less treble that some folks might expect. I think it has enough clarity.
Overall a keeper and solid bass for the price. I prefer it over the Squier CV Jag. I'm debating whether to mod it or not. If i do i would go with high mass bridge and light weight tuners.
One note. My blue is from china. I looked at the fender site. Both the blue and black with maple fingerboard appear to be from the China factory. The charcoal with Indian Laurel fretboard appear to be from Indonesia when looking at the rear headstock pictures on fenders site. Unless fender has incorrect images on the site.

      @sunn_bass 2 роки тому +1

@@geraldp494 @Gerald P. I tried both this and the CV. I really like the CV too. But the reason I prefer the Infinity is the price. The one I got plays exceptionally and on par with the couple CV's I tried. And at $200 less, I think it could be the better bang for the buck. There are no flaws in the fit and finish. The weakest area is the pickup but its still good. The MM type pickup was what also drew me in as i didn't need another P/J bass. I haven't upgraded the pickup but I might swap it with a Nordstand or Duncan at some point, but no hurry.
I must note that as with any Squier, or budget bass, try as many as possible. The lower the price the more inconsistencies in quality. Some are homeruns and some are duds within the same series.
I've had mine for about 6 months. Since I live near Lake Erie its been thru late summer humidity and now extreme dryness from my heater this winter. I've had no need to adjust the truss rod and have no fret sprout. Very satisfied. I saw Fender raised all their prices. This bass was $249 and is now $289 USD. Still worth it as long as they keep up the quality.
      Hope this helps.
Oh, let me add this. The satin finish on the Infinity Jag feels great, easily as good as the satin finish on my Player series Mustang. I like it better than the CV gloss finish.

It's weird how much taste affects opinion as opposed to hard and fast rules.
In other words, I love this bass and I don't know what you guys don't like about it. I'm autistic and I thought I was sensitive but I certainly can't feel a stripe on the neck. And the dive is excellent it makes it so easy to chuck this thing around, I'm way to erratic when I play I need an instrument that can move and this thing is agile, not like my precision which is my easiest bass to play but I can't swing it round my neck or knee it in the back when I want to add some flare to a bend/hammer off.
