Glad to see this video of you testing the Sigma 500mm f5.6 with the a6700 body. Looked like a great combo for video (maybe photo too???). I have my Sigma lens on order, can’t wait to give it a good testing… Thanks for the reminder to keep the steady shot in mode 1 😂😂😂

Well I don't think you will be disappointed, the Skylark Video and shots were very impressive at the end. Very good detail in the images & no problem with quality or sharpness, superior to any zoom.🙂

Hi mate, cracking little birds aren't they? We do quite well for skylarks in Essex too. Luckily no dog walkers where I go. All the best Steve.

Just replied to someone else, of course dogs are not the main problem. In this case they actually aided getting the shots in the real world. Pesticides and modern farming methods have killed far more Skylarks . But it is nice to see them undisturbed like on your recent video. Of course you can't get as close I guess 🤔

Another great video, get the game wardens on the ball and ticket the dog walkers.

      Thank you very much
I am not sure they have a warden but they certainly need to do some Policing 🤞

Hope those little critters are doing ok. One of my favourite sounds on the upland heaths.

Yes mine too they seem to be doing OK despite the best efforts of the Dog Walkers 🤔

We seem to have quite a lot of skylarks in Surrey, recently found rather a lot at one end of the old Wisley airfield where they pose sitting on the tarmac which doesn't make for a great picture. Wish my pictures of them in the sky were remotely like yours. At this time of year they're likely more interested in attracting a mate than worrying about the dogs.

Thanks for sharing . I don't know wether to hate the dog owners or thank them 🤔

There were at least as many dogs and dog walkers when the Skylark was fairly commonplace in Britain. I clearly recall cycling past them every time I went out on my bike along country lanes throughout Essex during spring and summer. The main impact on their numbers has been the change in farming methods but there aren't many warning signs about that.

Well I agree completely dogs are not the main cause. When I was a lad we had a couple of Yorkshire Terriers and they were never on a leed in the Countryside. It is good to see some farmers leaving a good gap around the edge of fields, but of course the Skyark wants the gap in the middle !
Pesticides and big business farming is definitely the main culprit. You will see lots on "Climate Change" but nothing of the real cause that you have alluded to ! 🤔 Some of us are fully awake, unfortunately not enough, thanks for spreading the word . Awesome 🙂

Nice images , I was photographing these recently at Bradgate park , beautiful birds to watch and listen to . The song is always a pleasure to hear . Just subscribed so look forward to seeing more content. Hoping for a worthwhile replacement for my 200-600 as a walk around lens so I’m interested in the 500 sigma or Sony 300 with TC

    • @CamillaI

Many thanks. I have returned the 500 Sigma and ordered the 300mm f2.8 Sony for myself. Obviously the Sigma is extremely good for the price, but the Sony is more flexible with TC & fps for only 280-300g more weight and a bulky barrel . Obviously not everyone has my budget ! 🤔 So the Sigma is still an extremely good walkabout lens

@@CamillaI excellent, let us know how you get on with it , tbh I’d prefer to stick with Sony lenses . I just hope the images and focus consistency is good with the TC . All I want is a walkabout lens , I don’t mind paying more for the Sony . I keep looking at the Nikon Z8 600mm pf but I like my A1 especially the rear dial

What do you think about the sigma 500. Fantastic image too. I wish people would put the dog’s on the lead’s

A very good lens image quality excellent more coming next week when I have a shootout with Jonathan. He has the A9iii with 300mm f2.8 & TC's 🤔

Thanks for the video, great to see it on the A6700. What do you think your main use of this lens will be? Looking forward to the shoot out with the 300 2.8 !

      @CamillaI  3 місяці тому

Yes more coming with the A6700 . I will use it mainly for video . I have just filmed a video on Brown Hares using the A6700 and 200-600mm . This week on "C&I" I am doing the shoot out with Jonathan 🙂

I think you're confusing the red list with the schedule 1 list. Otherwise there are protections (via Wildlife and Countryside Act) on all birds nests, the contents of and any 'intention' to damage nests, kill birds or remove eggs but no legal requirement that you should not photograph skylarks at or near the nest, however there may be ethical arguments against doing that.
