I've had to do the same. Im a class 1 driver and a single parent, live in a small village. All the driving jobs require 11 or 12 hours a day . No time for family, knackered all the time, and not enough money to live on. And on top of all that, the financial responsibility of your load and fines and points and stress. It's just not worth driving anymore! Not to even mention where the tax goes!

But the taxes we pay as workers also fund services like healthcare, education, transport, social welfare, etc. Thousands of Irish people who are our neighbours, our friends, our relatives, the elderly, those with disabilities and so on depend on these services everyday for the basics. Ireland isn't perfect and God knows our politicians are definitely not perfect. Sure I suppose no where is perfect. I do think though a lot of people are happy to be able to work and happy to pay taxes to support services we all need. As the years go by we'll depend on them even more! .
