  • Hey :)
Here I show how I went about installing a "step bumper receiver" to my Tacoma.
I got the receiver from Harbor Freight and I am very happy w/ it.
    Haul Master Item # is 67158, price was $24.99 and I used a 20% off coupon :)
The installation was pretty straight forward, I just had to "notch" the receiver to clear two bolts, I then trimmed the upper trim panel to clear the receiver and bolt it to the truck using 3" long, 5/8" thickness bolts, w/ locking washers ( I got the bolts n nuts from my local hardware store ) n I also used lock tight just to make sure :)
I have to say that I know the garage door panels are very long, but when I carried them w/ my other truck, I was driving carefully and on back roads and made it home just fine, thank God :)
    Thanks for watching

I just bought a 2024 Toyota Hilux Revo SpaceCab here in Thailand. In the USA they’re Marketed as the Tacoma.
I’ve got a Step Bumper and I’ve been looking for an appropriate Hitch to mount underneath the bumper. This is perfect. Thanks for posting.

This couldn’t be any easier for me to do. I have the same exact same pickup single cab. Went to get the same part at harbor freight. I’m going to use grade 8 bolts though and spray them as you did.
    Thanks for the video!

    Nice job!
I found your video while looking for which hardware to use to mount the receiver.
But, for some viewers... BE AWARE....
This doesn't give one to have a 500lb tongue weight or 5000lb towing capacity unless the bumper already has that capacity.
It won't make the bumper any stronger
However, this receiver will be much more advantageous than just a ball being mounted on the bumper's step.
I installed one on my Colorado so that I could, not only tow my bass boat, but attach an ATV winch to the rear, add an extender so that I can carry the kayaks and use a bike rack.
(or attach a giant spear for tailgaters 🚘🙃)
Ignore those pretentious guys saying that it MUST attach to the frame.

Hi I really hope that you used grade 8 bolts for your own safety, if you use regular bolts and try to tow anything with that hitch it will snap off I’m not sure if you know about that. Grade 8 bolts have five little ticks on the end of the bolt grade 5 bolts have three little ticks and they mean that they are much stronger than regular bolts

Nick thanks for the heads up,
I am not planning to tow anything w/ it,
I don't even have a harness to connect to a trailer.
The reason I got the receiver is to use the bed extender and carry long items like wood or steel.
I did not find grade 8 bolts when I was looking 😑
But I will get some now that I know it fits 🙂👍

esa parte del paragolpes no es segura y suele desprenderse con cargas de mas de 100kgs, es preferible el jalon completo desde el chassis

I gotta say especially on a truck you need to be using a frame mounted hitch.

If it is only attached to the bumper don't tow anything really heavy 2500lbs or greater, all receivers should be mounted to the chassis other wise it can rip the bumper off...

Curious about my frontier, it's a 2012 and the bumper is mounted to the frame. Will this be OK to tow a small trailer

Hi loved your video. Quick question- what purpose do the two bolts have that you had to make the notches for? Can I just remove those bolts so the receiver will lay flat? I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma 4 cyl. Thanks! Kim

    • @LincolnMaxnCo
      @LincolnMaxnCo  Рік тому +1

      thanks,
the two bolts hold the bumper "skin/cover" to the main part of the bumper.
I would not recommend removing them.

Great job, looks really good ! I have a 2009 Tacoma and was going to put the 3500 lb. ( 69673 ) on, but if the 5000 lb. goes on this easy I'll spend the extra money. I have 2 HF's close to me and neither of them have the receivers or the bed extenders in stock. Does the bed extender sag a lot when installed? It looks like it does - may just be the angle you were filming it from. I plan on using it mainly to transport a 14 foot canoe around, maybe some wood now and then. Thanks again.

    • @LincolnMaxnCo
      @LincolnMaxnCo  3 роки тому

The bed extender does sags a little, but you can adjust the height on it, so that what you are carrying can be level w/ the bed 👍
you should be fine transporting a 14' canoe

I got the nuts n bolts from my local hardware store, but if you are planning to tow you should get "grade 8" bolts because they are stronger.
The sizes I used are on the description
