enjoy your videos. Installed a telltale on my 1974 9.9. I was in Tomahawk WI last summer 2019 at vintage boat show 1 day and kept listening to peoples voices to see if I heard yours. lol
I never own anything smaller than a v-4 .. But my friend had a 9.9 76.. We had sooo much fun on that boat.. What a great toy.. Yup...I don't like 4 strokes on boats.. It looks like a 14' boat.. Pushed that very well.. Ole Pepper was probally hanging on.. Thanls.. Have a great day.🔤😀🐟🐡
This one runs pretty nice. I got a 15hp version of this motor in a trade with one of my UA-cam subscribers a few weeks ago. It needs some work, but I hope it turns out this well. Good ol' lo-tension mag. My throttle roller disintegrated on it. Have to find another one.
I got a 91, as a kicker on my walleye boat, run 8 hours without a single hiccup, saves me tons of money from running my big motor, paid $300 for it, costs me under $25 ti run it all day
Idk if you have gotten it fixed or not yet there could be a mud dobber nest in your water jacket ports or your impeller housind isnt sealing or correctly causing a vacuum leak? That is what was wrong with my force/ Chrysler outboard
@@chrysleroutboarddude Thanks! I took the thermostat out and tried it in hot water. It opens as soon as the water became hot. I put it back and started the engine . It seemed that the thermostat opens but I could feel that the engine was a little bit to hot. I could hardly put my finger on the cylinder.
It did not need all that Crap you just wanted to replace it! Try not pulling on the cord till you get resistance or you will mess up the re coil. Have you ever used an outboard?
Are you kidding me! I have been a professional outboard technician for close to 40 years! I have over 700 outboard motor videos here on UA-cam! I repair what is needed to make it in correct working order. I rope start 1,000s of motors a year and I do not pull hard until the starter has engaged! So let’s see your video’s on the correct way to fix them! Dude you ain’t got a clue.
I have been doing outboard motor repair for over 36 years and i film about 1% of the motors that i work on. If you look at my videos you will see that I have over 500 videos hear on UA-cam. The exhaust that was seen in this video is no different then what you see from a car in cold weather, This motor was NOT overheating.
Those are great outboards! Picked one up at a scrap yard in Northern Michigan and got it going for about $150. The things people throw away! I love it

Had one just like it 30 years ago.
I just bought two today I have my mechanic on it
Got the same one. - love it
Looks nice, runs sweet....How do you find all these gems...
kramden I go to Facebook market place and flemarkets yard sales anywhere there is junk they usually get used a few years and then they sit
Hi master. Is the conventional ignition system with breaker and capacitor efficient. Does not cause failures ??
It seems to me like steam would be a bad sign if it's coming from your cooling system
hi i have this outboard and the outboard doesnt expel water. the impller is well and the circuit is not obstructed. what can be?

i have the same motor, doesn't run that fast at all, only goes about 7 mph, why is that? could it be the prop?
It might be the prop but might only be running on one cylinder.
Is there any temostat in this one?
Yes there is! It’s under the cover that’s on the cylinder head

@@AlBa-so5um They should run around 165f
I have exact motor it starts first pull and spits water at first but once its going the water stops is this normal
Should be the other way around, no water at first, then when it heats up it sprays out. Are you sure you have the right thermostat in it?
@@tomhath8413 its all fixed now !! Whoever installed the impeller before had it in the wrong way......
In your opinion would this motor be enough for a 20’ pontoon? I’m not trying to break any speed records just trying to get to the sandbar and back.
I think it would be ok but I’d be concerned about not having enough reverse power to stop forward motion when docking
It would be a little under powered but may be fine for what you need. Check the height of the transom, you may need a longshaft
mark r pa have a 74 on the back of my 12 smokercraft they runs like a little corvette
If that was a cold start, you really should warm it up a bit before going WOT.
I just picked one up 100 bucks

I think that 9.9 is overheating dude... Mine never put out steam like that... Jesus...!

lot of smoke mine doesn't create any smoke like that
It’s steam not smoke. This guys knows his stuff 100% so I fully believe him when he says that it’s steam and not smoke.
Too much oil in the tank
