Something Told Me To Stop... Metal Detecting A Possible Roman Trail?

- Let's discover an old path together! Sometimes certain spots are drawing my attention. In this case I've spotted a path from below on my way to a different location and decided to stop.
This approach isn't "practical" when you are on a longer hike, because every break is time and energy consuming. Nevertheless I often end up detecting a spot on my way, that turns out to be the better choice. Some things can only be discovered in the field and not at home on a satellite map.
This path had it all, but it seemed "contaminated" with iron from the WWII era. Some targets mixed up together as the modern layer of soil wasn't even. As a result it was difficult to distinguish old from new.
I happen to start this relic hunt right in front of a bronze object that somehow "felt" Roman (of course I could be wrong). The second part found further up this path indicated movement from this direction. Was it a path back then? Could it be related to a wagon that broke down while in motion?
The surrounding area wasn't exciting. A short test revealed nothing but shell casings. Maybe my coil just couldn't reach deeper and the path with removed soil provided the only chance...
The silver coin at the end came as a huge surprise. I really thought, it was a shiny washer...
It was a great hunt, overshadowed by an incident that involved my beloved boar family. I hope, my loud metal detector wasn't causing them to move towards a hunter. Unfortunately it looked and sounded like that. One can only hope that he missed, or hit his foot!

I suppose you're under a few feet of snow. We were hit by 4-5" of it last week. As a retiree, I like it. No more need to leave the home for work anymore. I'm hoping to start hunting again since my Buddy died in September. What a shitty year it was!! Can't wait to see your newest hunts soon!! Happy New Year, 24!!

That was great that you found one of my country dimes. I hope it has many blessings for you in it! Wasn't your fault about the boars, they just knew about the hunters before you did. So you couldn't direct them to a differant location.

HI MR MD24,a very interesting hunt my friend,the location looked stunning,the the bronze pieces could be roman, still a a mystery though,loved the dime and so clean also with the amount of iron in the ground it can mask hidden items so like you i dig all targets and normally its just trash,but you never know,stay safe and well my friend...............HAPPY HUNTING

Wouldn't blame myself for the shots. Who's supposed to control the boar population without the natural order of things? There are no natural enemies out there to balance the population of deer and boars. Secondly, you cannot know with certainty the hunter shot on these.

The first unknown item you showed looks similar to an item I found in Italy. I'll see if I can find a photo. I was told by someone that it was Part of a name or Insignia badge. Not sure how true that was.

I lost a lesche digging tool and know where I lost it. Went back the next day as this lawn guy was maintains this big property. Asked him if he’d seen it. He said no. But I know he found it and kept it. $40 dollar screw up. 😡
You know when I saw the speed the boars were running at, it said to me ‘hunter’ Boars are aggressive when hunted….I think they were ambushed. You most likely had nothing to do with their demise. 😞

I doubt the hunter was successful if you heard only one shot. He probably took a long shot and missed. Nice hunt.
You do get good stuff, but I don't care how good you think you are, you're still dragging a metal object across the soil potentially scratching the target. And do yourself a favor and stop being so rough with your Garrett carrot. Don't ruin the tip like I did by doing the same.
Question I've seen you belittle meteorites in the past some are very valuable. So I don't know if you were fooling around or didn't know

Not mad but to think that someone gets mad because someone is feeding their family and themselves by hunting kind of pisses me off to the point that it is OK for a person to kill a plant to eat but not kill a wild animal. Look, Most people buy their food from a store where they get the meats from Farmers that us who knows what kind of feed, I use to hunt and kill Deer, Even Hogs to eat, But I never killed for sport That to me is wrong To kill anything for sport is murder in my eyes, So I really wish people could understand that most hunters kill to eat, OK so you my be a Vegan or vegetarian, That is a choice some have made, But to damn someone who eats meat just because they don't, Hey think about this, Every plant you eat is alive, You have to kill it to eat it so tell me what is the real difference. People have the right to make the choice to eat what they want, I do not and will not damn or get md t someone who kills plants to eat, Yes plans are alive nd yes they do feel pain just like people and or other animals do. I studied Botany so Yes I do know this to be a fact, Here is one for you, Every time you use the green moss to clean your hands you cause damage to that system, No it dose not kill the moss but it dose make it harder to breathe. Just like this Global Warming thing, You want it to stop, Plant tree's because over the last75 year trees have been cut to build homes or make different thing for people to live, But less than 1/3 of the trees cut have been replanted and if you understand the relationship of the trees to the Earth you know they are the shade that keeps the Earth cooler emissions and also replaces the Carbon emissions back to oxygen, The other thing they are pushing to clear the air is fake BS to the point that it all about the money they will make by selling electric cars and cutting coil from the chain of thi ng used today, Use Common Sense not Book learning to see the fact, Books are great but they only show half the answers to everything. I'm 65 years old and I have seen the world evolve to where it is now and the truth is very easy to see if you open your eyes nd stop listening to the media and governments, The real problem is the Governments, Let me ask this, Who has the most money the People? Or the Governments? ?The truth is very clear, They make rule for the people to follow yet they live by their own rules. See the truth not their truth.
