I second that, it's the middle class' "Aventus - Creed" or "Sauvage" for the working man, but definitely not for everyone with its very serious nature. Since I got complimented on it by men and women both, my guess is it's one of those universally attractive fragrances. So if it suits you - it will be noticed.
My fave is Givenchy pour Homme, maybe a bit old-fashioned but a great scent. For every day at the University I wear Davidoff Cool Water. A friend of mine smells always like soap, no matter what scent he wears.
That's a great tip about wearing the fragrance for a month to see how it settles, and also the fragrance itself can mellow a little over time in the bottle. TF Beau de Jour is a daytime signature for me and it's absolutely beautiful, but it took a little while for the lavender top end to calm down. Great video as always, and really timely now that I'm moving into my autumn fragrances. Leather, tobacco, vetiver here we come. ⭐️
I have the fragrances i wear sorted based on the season. And if i absolutely cant decide on what to wear, i default to a Blue Fragrance, like BDC EDP, YSL Y EDP, and/or Dylan Blue.
Even though Green Irish Tweed can be perceived as more elegant, or a fragrance you would wear in a more formal setting, I've come to realize it is actually pretty versatile. I wear it to class and to church and it seems to do well in both settings. I typically just stick with one hard spray and maybe a small spray behind it since it projects pretty well with my body chemistry.
I have three colognes: Creed Aventus, Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme, and Parfums de Marly Percival. I’ve pretty much been wearing only Aventus though.
9:30 Yes sir! Out of my entire 30 bottle collection this is my most complimented fragrance and it does everything really good! I wore it to a wedding and got many compliments then that leads to more compliments about you in general because it opens people up. I think everyone should have it in their stable! It has all the right notes. The atomizer is the best! It lasts literally 10+ hours on skin. Jackets and coats I still smell it roughly a year later around the neck area. 10:30 Cobalt smells good. It’s really expensive ($160) and doesn’t perform all that well. Maybe 3-5 hours max and to me smells like a premium version of AXE Phoenix. You probably won’t get any compliments wearing Cobalt. It’s a good work fragrance but that’s about it. Personally I think you’re better off spending $30 and buying Armaf Hunter which smells similar and lasts longer and will actually get you compliments.
You cant go wrong with Azzaro Most Wanted Intense. I remember testing a lot of scents in my local store and bringing home some of the test stripes I liked the most. I let my girlfriend test all of them and without a doubt she liked it the most. That's when I boght it and made it my go to scent for special occasions or date nights with her. I also picked up DG lightblue intense and I think this must be my favourite summer fragrance, that contrary to most fresh summer scents, projects like a beast.
I love your videos and find many of them very helpful, however, I was wondering if you had any plans on making videos on rarer or less conventional fragrances? Maybe some from Penhaligon’s, Atkinsons, etc.?
The cologne that I got the most lovely comments from was Yardley Musk for men circa 1976 ish before they changed the formula. My favourite personally is Fahrenheit. The worst ever was Drakar noir (fly spray) Old Spice and Aramis are cheap good ones. Bay Rum was the most masculine (extremely cheap , was used at every Barber shop in Australia back in the 60's) .When in doubt, always use Musk .
Smell testing in department/drug store does little for you, the scent is already mixing with others in the air. Sample it and wear it for a day, you may or may not like how it develops. Almost no fragrance represents itself accurately on a test strip or on initial spray on skin.
I Just created this account to comment haha My personal choices (based on my budget and location, haha): - After Shower: Montblanc Starwalker - Going to Work: Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extrême - Attending Church: Givenchy Gentleman Boisée - For Exercise: Davidoff Cool Water - Romantic Encounter: Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP - Sunny Day: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Italian Love or Forever - For everything else: actually trying the Croxatto Man Looking forward to adding more fragrances to my collection 😁
Bleu de Chanel, Versace Dylan Blue, and Eros are my most versatile fragrances. Totally overlooked for Summer/beach wedding are Nautica Voyage and Mason Margiela Replica Sailing Day.
I'd like to see more on the seasonal fragrances. We're coming into a hot summer, I have found a couple of day time fragrances, but looking for good night time ones
D&G Light Blue Summer Vibes is my go to for the summer since this summer just gone, but not in winter time. I think Antonio is right (like almost everytime!)and I need a signature scent. Time to shop me thinks!
Awesome video Antonio. You covered about everything and gave some great advise. Aromatics I don't only wear for weddings or weekends, but go really well for everyday, office, all year round, dressing up or down, so basicly in my personal opinion these are the best all rounders. Yeah, most of my collection are fougère/ barbershop, chypre, woody and citrus perfumes. Non of them are the same, and that makes this hobby so beautifull. You only made one little mistake; calling Eau Sauvage Parfum, Sauvage Parfum. Without the Eau. I absolutly love Eau Sauvage both the EdT and the Parfum, but can't stand Sauvage. Sauvage gives me a severe headacke. I believe because of the ambroxan.
Antonio getting ready for a wedding: “I’ll pick a likeable, short-lasting fragrance.” Me getting ready for a wedding: “Everyone’s going to go nuts for this beastmode oud fragrance!”
I used to think this way, but now I just pay attention to the weather and temperature. So its just cold weather and hot weather frags. As long as it is appropriate for the temp, I'd wear it. For me fragrance is an accessory. It is a personal touch, the cherry on top, that does not have to be matchy-matchy with the occasion, as long as it's not something too inappropriate like super beastmode animalic oud in an intimate setting.
Hey Antonio, I've wanted to get into fragrances and you introduced me to a whole new world with your channel. I'm still confused about which fragrance to wear on which occasion so this video helped me out quite a bit, but I still have some questions. For instance, what do I wear every day in my lectures in uni, and in which season? I want a fragrance that people can smell when they sit next to me that is very smooth and confident, but not too loud so I would like to see you make another video about this and a similar type of fragrance. Another question I would like to ask you is which fragrance would go with what outfit? I know that not every fragrance can be worn on each occasion and every piece of clothing so I would like to ask you to make a video about which notes and accords usually go with which outfit and occasion, E.g., some leather-smelling fragrances go well with leather jacket outfit when you go to a bar with friends and not with shorts when you go grocery shopping with your grandma.
Hey man! Your comment caught my attention, I want to try my best to help if possible. First off, there are no "rules" to wearing fragrances. I know it sounds silly, but obviously no one is going to arrest you for wearing the "wrong" fragrance. There are, however, best practices, most of which just come down to social awareness and common sense. From your questions and the examples you gave, I think you've got a pretty solid understanding of what NOT to do to avoid most fragrance "faux pas" (eg., not choking out your classmates in the lecture hall, strong/"formal" scents with casual outfits/situations, etc). What this means is that there's a LOT of wiggle room for you to simple wear what you like. You don't HAVE to wear a certain type of fragrance or certain notes for various situations. I think of fragrances as just another part of your outfit. The clothes you wear cover the visual/touch senses (if that makes sense), while fragrance covers the sense of smell. So in that way, it makes sense for your fragrance to match with your outfit, and your outfit should match the occasion in which you wear it (uni vs clubbing vs grocery shopping vs wedding etc). They should work together in harmony. Like I said, there's a lot of leeway in what you want to wear in various situations so it's hard to say you "should" wear anything in particular, so as long as you're not wearing anything that is inappropriate then you should be fine. Try lots of samples and decants to find what you like, and (of the ones you like) wear the fragrance that you think best match your outfit for the situation. I'll try to give specific examples for your questions though: - University lecture hall: "Smooth and confident but not loud" is a great frame to have going into your fragrance selection. I would recommend something fresh/aquatic/citrus-y with a woody dry down. That woody dry down is what will give you the "smooth and confident" feel you're going for. There are LOTS of fragrances that fit that bill, so you have tons to choose from. Some personal recommendations are Terre d'Hermes (one of my favorites), Montblanc Legend Spirit, Acqua di Gio, or YSL Y edp. Avoid anything that smells too "old" since it won't fit the vibe of a young guy at uni (I'm thinking barbershop fragrances, Dior Homme Parfum, etc) and anything you would wear clubbing (strong spicy scents like Versace Eros Flame, Spicebomb, Dior Sauvage, etc). You asked about seasons, but I think that's a bit less relevant here because you're going to be indoors. Generally speaking though, very "warm" spicy fragrances such as Eros Flame, Spicebomb, etc., will become overbearing in the heat, so save anything that leans that way to colder months, and wear the fresher stuff like Acqua di Gio in summertime. Most of the ones I recommended are great all year round though. - What to wear with different outfits: Again TONS of room for personal expression here, so it's hard to give hard and fast rules. But generally, certain smells will evoke different mental images, and you want that mental image to match fairly closely with what you're wearing. YSL's Tuxedo is an amazing-smelling fragrance, but wearing it to the grocery store would be only slightly less inappropriate than putting on an actual tuxedo to go to the grocery store. That's a bit of an extreme example but I think you get the idea. "Date night" fragrances that tend to be sweet and spicy (think The One by D&G or La Nuit de L'Homme) go great with dark clothes when you're a bit dressed up (hence the date night moniker). Fresher scents like Acqua di Gio, Dior Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel, and the like tend to go great with pretty much any outfit so they can be worn much more casually. Think of them like the scent equivalent of a nice fitted polo shirt; could be worn casually or dressed up a bit. I know that these are kinda generic recommendations, and that's because there's SO MANY options that are all perfectly acceptable. It's kinda like asking what outfit you should wear to uni; a suit and tie would probably make you stand out in a negative way (socially inept), but there's a ton of different outfits and styles that would all look great on university student. As long as you avoid smells that are just plain wrong for the situation (using the mental image that the fragrance evokes) and sticking with the ones you personally like, it's hard to go wrong. The best thing to do is test a lot of fragrances, but be very picky about what you actually buy. Only buy scents that you absolutely LOVE, and wear those when it's appropriate (most fragrances are versatile so it shouldn't be too hard). Anyways this turned into a bit of a novel so I'll end it there. Thanks for coming to my TED talk, follow me for more recipes. 😂

you never mentioned legendary Baccarat Rouje 540 in your videos. And what about alcohol free perfume oils? And your recommendations based on 14-18 degree celcius summer. The country I live has 36-40 degree celcius summer and humid sweaty days, say something based on south Asian or Middle Eastern weather.
Where would my favourite cologne fit in your assessment? I wear one and it is Jean Paul Gauthier Le Male original scent . Although I do like various men's fragrance derivatives of that scent from Jean Paul Gauthier as well. Once in awhile I'll try those as well but where does anything produced by Jean Paul Gauthier fall into the realm of your assessment?
i love your videos but never in my life ive ever heard anyone say " stick with the one edt " instead of the edp, scent wise, longevity wise, anythingwise the edp is a thousand miles ahead and superior to the OG(edt ), i own both btw.
I have to respectfully disagree with the view of this video. While I understand what you’re saying, I think pigeonholing this fragrance to this occasion or this time and season defeats the purpose of fragrances. Fragrance is about finding something that you enjoy, that makes you feel good wearing it. Not unlike clothing, there are rules to follow sure, but there needs to be enjoyment on the part of the wearer. And like clothing, a little bit of critical thinking, when applied to fragrance selection, goes a long ways.
To play Devil's Advocate... a lot of the reasons they're recommended for certain seasons or occasions, is function and courtesy. So if you wear a heavier fragrance in warmer times, it's going to be overpowering. Not to mention sweating into it. So colder or at night would be ideal for those particular frageances. Whereas wearing a light and airy, aquatic one in the heat just carries it better. You're probably wearing less and not bundled up, etc. That said, sometimes the occasion matters. Any guy who wears something like Versace Eros to the office, is a mad lad. Bit of a dick move, that one. However, in a club, when you're competing with sweat, drinks and who knows how many of whatever other fragrances are happening all around you, something lile Versace Eros is a good bet. However, wearing something lile Prada L'Homme in the office is a good idea, but will get blown out in a club. Though none of them will smell right if you're at a beach bonfire get together. By all means, Im inclined to agree with you, to an extent. Though better judgement is a factor.
hello Brother, i loce your videos thank you very much, i have an issue if you can help i have Aqua Di Gio (Profumo) i feel its weak and i feel that its not showing me. i have Blu De Chanel EDT and i feel its not as strong as i want. i have 1 million i dont like it buy my wife do so i wear it sometimes for her fragrance strength i like but the fragrance it self i dont if that make any sense.. i need a signiture fragrance if you can help and im over 40 lol . thank you in advance
Props for trying to keep it simple. The fragrance review scene on UA-cam got so ridiculously saturated and nonsensical. 80 percent of guys wear nothing. They don’t need to from nothing to a scent for every possible situation. The key is not to be inappropriate. You show up to a business meeting smelling like some musky Persian prince and you look like an idiot. When in doubt, wear nothing.

What's your opinion of the new fragrances from Gentlemen's Gazette?

Thoughts on Moschino forever by moschino?
Wait, did he mention Office scents? If so, where?
Dude I fucking love Eros
Best chanel les exclusive to men ???
??
Chanel allure homme edition blanche....???
And dont overdo it!
Take a drink everytime he says, "fragrance."
No Acqua di Parma???
I know! Every time I use their stuff (deodorant, show gel, spray, and so on) I am taken back to one of their stores in Milan!
I am 24 and the one cologne I own I do not wear because I am told it smells like their grandpa.
Stop wearing fragrances!
Its not pronounced loway way

💩💩🤡🤡
There should be a certification course before someone is allowed to wear a fragrance. 9 times out of 10 it’s just too much… can’t stand it…
There’s too many.. and too expensive… it’s a pointless hobby … and people wear too much … terrible
