    I've been using Varivas Max Power X8 (#0.6) for years.Always use their PE line conditioner as well.
    This keeps the line smooth and longer lasting.200 meter spool will last whole season.

      I just upgraded to Varivas from J Braid and it is absolutely worth the extra money.
      It casts significantly further, it doesn't fray and it ties neat little knots. It's everything you could want in a braided line.

      i had a buddy who landed a 20kg yft on Varivas 10x10 max power pe3, the amazing part was during the fight, that yft cross line with the anchor rope and nearly severe the 1.5inch anchor rope, the varivas pe3 survive the torture without breakage and still manage to be able to bring the yft back without breaking.....later inspection of the achor rope....the boatman realized the pe line has cut through 3/4 of the 1.5inch rope.....he ask us what line you are using.....we gave him a spool of our spare varivas as an apology....

    • @thelinelaboratory
      @thelinelaboratory  11 місяців тому

      In my opinion color is irrelevant if you are purely talking about what will catch more fish, assuming your also using a decent length of leader the business end of your line will be pretty much invisible. Of course there may be other reasons to run colored line, such as for depth markings etc but i have never found a difference between white, black, pink, yellow, multi-colored etc when it comes down to catch rates.

    I used to use this braid in the blue color and in PE2. I lost many lures due to backlashes. Very forcible casts using heavy lures with a long rod so maybe it was my fault. However I then tied on a buzzbait around vegetation and as I set the hook the line snapped. I haven’t used the line since then.

    When you measure diameter, did you stretch the line tightly?

    • @thelinelaboratory
      @thelinelaboratory  11 місяців тому +2

      I have tested this and even under significant tension the diameter doesn't really change, Saying that, i do apply a little bit of pressure just to take up any slack.

    • @enrikomulawarman7617
      @enrikomulawarman7617 11 місяців тому

      @@thelinelaboratory oh IC, I thought braid will tend to "grow" when no tension, especially with a hollow braid, but I can understand this line was so dense that almost no difference with or without tension

    • @thelinelaboratory
      @thelinelaboratory  11 місяців тому +1

      @@enrikomulawarman7617 Yep correct, it all depends on the construction. Most are braided tight enough that they wont contract under tension. This is slightly different for used line though. They definitely get wider as the fibers are teased apart and the tension changes over time.

    As an angler, i prefer line manufacturer stays true to their claims of diameter and strength of the lines they sell. By staying true to as close as possible to their stated claims, we can better determine what poundage over what line thickness we want to use for different fishing situations so as to fill up our reels as full as possible.
    Just to quote for example, Accurate BV300 stated PE30lb max 300m... no indication of which brand of PE line and no indication what line thickness by Accurate....i normally use PE2 for bottom fishing around 30 to 60m, so i loaded Varivas 10x10 Max Power PE2....to my amazement BV300 can be loaded with 500m of Varivas PE2 with space to spare for thick flouro carbon leaders....though i have to waste about 100m Varivas from a 600m spool...it was worth it....freaking SMALL POCKET MONSTER reel with 500M of PE2 makes bottom fishing and jigging very enjoyable....
    I have been primarily using Varivas in almost all of my reels as i discover that the claims by them are within the ball park figure as i test all the lines i own....Varivas is not cheap....hurts the pocket everytime....but it is so far the only line manufacturer that i trust.

    • @thelinelaboratory
      @thelinelaboratory  7 місяців тому

      I have 9 different types of Varivas but i haven't got the 'Varivas 8'. They claim the 8 is a "standard braided line" where the high-grade is "premium", so I would expect the 8 to not perform as well, but that's just a guess.

    • @varivas1482
      @varivas1482 6 місяців тому +1

      @@thelinelaboratory 'VARIVAS 8' braid is the NEW up-dated version of the former HighGrade x8 braid. 'VARIVAS 8' is available in both blue and multicolor; it's also available in longer lengths and up to PE4. The marketing words 'Standard' and 'Premium' are a bit misleading. By 'Standard' VARIVAS means they are setting a new standard of premium line. The English word 'standard' is a bit awkward here, cuz it can be miscontrued as average or basic. But what VARIVAS is trying to say is that they have raised the bar and elevated their standard, base model line.
