    Great video, as usual, especially No. 2. I remember early on in my career when I was getting noticed, lots of coaches came out of the woodwork wanting to 'help' my game. All with great intentions however. And, as you said, I tried to take too much advice on board to 'improve' my game, from high diving drills to crosses and everything in between. I became a confused mess and started hemorrhaging goals on game day, stuck in a self-doubt no-man's land. I ended up sticking with one coach and focussing on the basics over and over. Goalkeeping is a mental discipline no doubt about it!!

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  Місяць тому +1

      That's the spirit! Sometimes less is more, especially when it comes to goalkeeping! 👍 And that was exactly my situation also. And although, I tend to exaggerate a little in the videos so people get the point, this is the reality we live in today. SO much advice that it's difficult not to be overwhelmed. And yes, basics is everything - boring but it's true 🙂

      Wow, this is such a thoughtful and insightful comment - thank you for sharing this, it really means a lot! 🙏 I'm so glad the videos resonate with you and serve as a source of inspiration and reflection. It’s awesome that you’re putting so much thought into developing your keepers, not just physically but mentally and socially as well.
      The communication aspect is so crucial, and I love how you’ve picked up on the importance of tone and delivery. You're spot on - how something is said can completely change the dynamics of a team. Encouraging your keepers to find that balance between being assertive and supportive is a game-changer. Helping them understand that communication is about building trust and guiding the team, not just barking orders, is such an important lesson.
      Also, I’m chuckling about the color-coded plans - sometimes the simple stuff works best! 😂 Keep up the amazing work you’re doing with grassroots keepers - it’s people like you who make a lasting impact on the next generation of players. And hey, if you ever have any specific challenges with your keepers, feel free to share - I’d love to help where I can. 👏🧤

      It sounds like you're in a tough spot, but you're approaching it with the right mindset by focusing on improvement and staying ready 💪🧤
      Here's some advice I gave another keeper:
      1. Is the current training helping you grow and reach your potential?
      2. Does the new club have a proven track record of developing goalkeepers?
      3. Are you willing to adapt to a new environment and possibly work harder to prove yourself at the new club?
      If you believe the new club will give you the tools to grow faster, it might be worth the move. Trust your instincts and do what feels best for your growth as a goalkeeper. Good luck! 🧤⚽

    Bro, I been wanting to ask this to some goalkeeper for a long time. Is it better to train with a smaller ball or a bigger ball as a goalkeeper is there much of a difference between both, and also, I face problem while predicting where the player is going to shoot, sometimes I dive the wrong way, is there a way to trick the player or go straight towards where the player is shooting. Pls help with my doubts

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  Місяць тому +1

      Great question, bro! Let me break it down for you:
      Training with Smaller vs. Bigger Balls:
      Training with smaller balls can be useful for improving your hand-eye coordination, reaction speed, and grip strength. It’s a bit like leveling up your reflexes.
      Training with bigger balls, like size 5 (match balls), is essential for realism. You need to get used to their weight, bounce, and flight path since that’s what you’ll face in games.
      A mix of both can be beneficial: smaller balls for drills and accuracy and bigger balls for match-day prep.
      About predicting where the player is going to shoot, I'd focus on becoming better at finding the best position and reacting to the shot, especially if you're young and still trying to learn. As you get older and more experienced, you'll learn to read the game (and the striker) better.

      Hi there! First off, congratulations on being with the best team in your state-that’s an incredible achievement! When it comes to deciding whether to stay or move, ask yourself a few questions:
      1. Is the current training helping you grow and reach your potential?
      2. Does the new club have a proven track record of developing goalkeepers?
      3. Are you willing to adapt to a new environment and possibly work harder to prove yourself at the new club?
      Better training can be a game-changer, but don’t forget to consider factors like playing time and your overall development. If you believe the new club will give you the tools to grow faster, it might be worth the move. Trust your instincts and do what feels best for your growth as a goalkeeper. Good luck! 🧤⚽

    Hey man its me again,I just want to ask how to have a great mentality.Yesterday Was a Final match between my academy club and my academy rival,Me as my team gk, i conceded 2 goal, 1 of them was a blunder,and the end of the match, i couldnt get over my blunder it just keep moving around on my head. Can you give me a few tips for my mentality because everytime i conceded a goal i feel like it was the end.

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  Місяць тому

      Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience - finals can be intense, and as goalkeepers, it’s easy to feel the weight of every goal. But remember, even the best keepers in the world make mistakes - it’s part of the game.
      To build a stronger mentality, here are a few tips:
      Shift Your Focus: After conceding, immediately focus on what’s next. Tell yourself, 'The next save is all that counts.' Don’t let one mistake define the rest of your game.
      Learn from It: After the match, analyze what happened with a calm mind. Was it positioning, decision-making, or nerves? Use it as a learning opportunity instead of beating yourself up.
      Develop a Reset Ritual: Some keepers clap their hands, take a deep breath, or even tap the post after conceding. This helps them reset and move forward.
      Positive Self-Talk: Instead of saying, 'I made a blunder,' remind yourself, 'I’ve made great saves before, and I can do it again.'
      Practice Handling Pressure: Simulate match scenarios in training, like penalty shootouts or high-pressure situations, so you get used to staying calm under stress.
      Mental strength is like a muscle - it grows with practice. And remember, your blunder doesn’t define you. What defines you is how you bounce back. Keep going, and don’t let one match stop you from improving and loving the game. You’ve got this! 💪🧤

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  Місяць тому

      Feeling pain on the side of your knees after diving could indicate that your technique needs a slight adjustment. Ideally, when diving, you should distribute the impact across your body to minimize stress on any single area. Here’s how to refine your technique:
      Land on the Correct Areas: Focus on landing on the side of your thigh and hips rather than your knees. The knees should only be part of the initial push-off and not bear the brunt of the impact.
      Use Your Hands to Absorb Impact: When diving, let your arms and hands lead the motion. They can help absorb some of the impact, reducing the strain on your knees and hips.
      Work on Sliding Technique: Properly executed dives often include a slight sliding motion, especially on grass or turf. This helps dissipate the impact across a larger area.
      Inspect Your Surface and Gear: If you’re training on a hard surface or without adequate padding, it’s easy to land awkwardly. Consider investing in padded shorts or using a softer surface for repetitive dive drills.
      If the knee pain persists, it might be worth taking a break from repetitive diving drills and focusing on form correction with lighter movements. Overuse injuries are common in goalkeeping, so listen to your body and adjust as needed. 🧤💪

      Take cold showers. I used to take them like a year ago and I never got sick. Then I stopped for a certain reason and now I get sick much more often. Trust me. Do your own research too.

      Hey buddy. This is kind of out of my expertise. But I know cold showers in the morning, focusing on eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and managing stress helps your immune system.
      But to be honest, I would go and see a doctor. I hope this helps

    • @GroundGloryGoalkeeping
      @GroundGloryGoalkeeping  Місяць тому

      Hey buddy. I'm not really doing shoutouts :)
      That’s a tricky situation! It might be worth considering how much game time and development you’d get at each club. If your current club isn’t challenging you enough but gives you consistent playing time, it might be better to stay for now and continue improving your skills. On the other hand, joining the new club, even as a backup, could push you to grow by training with a higher-level team. It depends on your long-term goals - do you want consistent matches now or the challenge of breaking into a stronger lineup? Trust your instincts and always focus on improving!

    Your course needs professional equipment and proper placement. I am an amateur goalie and don’t have any fancy equipment, most of the time, I don’t have to much space.
