This is true only if you are taking pictures of the racks themselves, at least during construction activities. Once data halls and core spaces are turned over to their respective owners, yes, no pictures at all and there is a very detailed MOP that must be completed for each activity if there is a warranty issue.

    I was once shocked by the security of these data center's but then I did some learning and found the real reason for such high security. They are all interconnected. If a "bad" group where to take a data center covertly they would have complete access to every data center in the world and everything flow's though these places, credit card numbers, proprietary company information, internal e-mails and even classified government files can be in these centers and the interconnectivity can't be simply turned off at the flick of a switch so if someone did take over one of these centers they could steal tons of information from all over the world, info worth billions. Or they could drop a virus that would spread from the one center to the next and the next and cripple the whole internet.

    Worked as an EOT for about a month.
    Training sucked….basically sink or swim.
    The threat of “no server can ever go down at anytime” is nuts.
    Worst work experience of my life.
    Just the job interview itself was stressful with the whole Amazon Leadership Principles crap.

First of all after first day orientation my boss was suppose to come get me…..I was only person left there with nobody there. 25gb has been the standard for data centers for the past 4 years or so... Even 100gb links to the server isn't uncommon...

    • @maxdehaas6776

      Not really, most server farms in the Netherlands run a 25 gigabit network (around 4 terabytes per second) connection the company I work with also matches that number. Those routers cost around 200k euro or 250k USD. How these routers work is actually insane sending colored light trough optical fiber cables.

    • @1Williams
      @1Williams 2 роки тому +1

      @@maxdehaas6776 I've got nothing to add other than 99% of everything I've designed for the past 3 or 4 years has been 4x 25Gbps per node with some starting to be 2 to 4 100Gbps. As we move into fully software defined environments (network, routing, storage, compute, security, analytics, etc...) layer2 bandwidth is king. A single NVME SSD drive can smoke a 25Gbps link.
