    Cool video and just what I was looking for, as Ive got an 07' Ridgeline that will be getting a new part for a weekend project. I also bought an aftermarket just because it is not driven that much. Good instructions and details that others might overlook. Thanks for posting this-

    Great video, I have a 2011 Ridgeline and I followed your directions. But as it turned out pack rats chewed through the wires at the top of the fuel pump. I just had to splice all 4 wires back together and things were back to normal. Your step by step directions were great

      Wow, that's crazy. I'm glad my video helped and that you didn't have to replace your fuel pump.
      You are the 4th person this month that's told me about rats eating wires. There was a guy that needs a new wiring harness. They are charging him over $5000. You, my friend, got lucky.

    Great video. My Truck had trouble starting after driving on E for a period of time. I filled the tank up and drove somewhere. After stopping and later trying to start up and leave, the truck just wouldn’t start. I’m guessing it’s the fuel pump, but what are ways to determine if it is or not?

    Did you have to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery??? What mileage would be a good time to replace the fuel pump? How long do they normally last?

      I personally did not disconnect the negative terminal, but I would recommend it.
      From what I have noticed, you start to see fuel pump failures at 90k and above. I would say it depends on idle time and other factors. Some vehicles idle many hours a day without traveling too far. I have seen OEM fuel pumps fail at 60k. It really depends on running time and that's hard to measure.

      Headliner video coming soon, lol
      Having old crappy cars works perfect for this channel! I always have something to film.

    Great video. Can you tell me where is the fuel filter? Is it part of the fuel pump?

    • @Prolbuilds
      @Prolbuilds  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it's in the fuel pump.

      @@Prolbuilds can you also tell me what the mileage of your Ridgeline was when you replaced the fuel pump? I’ve got 125k on mine, so just curious how long the pump lasts for.

      My truck had 152k miles when I replaced it.
      Great question, this is good info to know!
      Thanks for watching!

    What is the chisel you're using?

      The one I'm using in the video, I picked up at a swap meet years ago. But here is a link to one that looks very similar.

    Where is the location to check the pressure for the fuel pump?

      @Prolbuilds  5 місяців тому

      You would have to disconnect the fuel rail hose in order to test it. (It does not have a test port like other cars.)
      1. Relieve the fuel pressure.
      2. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting. Attach the fuel pressure gauge set and the fuel pressure gauge.
      3. Start the engine, and let it idle.
      - If the engine starts, go to step 5.
      - If the engine does not start, go to step 4.
      4. Check to see if the fuel pump is running: listen to the fuel filler port with the fuel fill cap removed. The fuel pump should run for 2 seconds when the ignition switch is first turned on.
      - If the pump runs, go to step 5.
      - If the pump does not run, do the fuel pump circuit troubleshooting.
      5. Read the fuel pressure gauge. The pressure should be 390 - 440 kPa (4.0 - 4.5 kgf/sq.cm,
      57 - 64 PSI

      I purchased it at O'REILLY's Autoparts. I don't remember the exact brand.
