  • We install an oil separator for or 2005 Chevy Silverado with a 4.8L V8. There are a lot of videos out there that tell people to delete their provisions and run a breather. That is not recommended because you may send false readings to the MAF sensor as you're letting unmetered air into the engine because you're bypassing the MAF. Watch the video where we show you can keep the PCV system closed and still be able to remove oil from the system to keep your intake manifold clean.

Serious question- Is it possible to use 2 oil separators (1 for each valve cover) and plumb it so that when the crank is in a vaccum it uses the air from the tbss manifold connection on top for metered fresh air into the valve covers BUT when at wot and crank pressure is building it reverses air flow and uses both oil separators before forcing air into the tbss manifold connection??? The separators would obviously need to be able to flow both ways and am wondering if anyone has ever tried this or something similar to upgrade theier pcv system??? I have that set up in my 2018 Sierra. Be careful with the double 0 rings. The metal lid fits too tight on the plastic and the 0-rings get cooked and brittle and they break off and could fall inside the valve cover. I sanded the hole in the plastic larger and only use one 0-ring instead of two. The cap sits tight and still seals well. You can buy a packet of 20 high temp 0 rings at home depot to keep as spares once the original 0 rings get old and crusty.
