Yeah, it wasn't the soviet past, but rather a brutal military dictatorship that together with the nazis made Lithuania lose a third of our population in the first few years. We carry the trauma of the cruelties they inflicted on our nation through generations and the world keeps quiet about it due to economy reasons, which doesn't really help us to heal from it.
im living here, it is not yet fully implemented. It is bad that this is not projected as a work in progress. We still have economic ties to Russia and that's why it is in fact post-soviet. Large minority of inhabitants are russian herritage. We need more than wishful thinking.
One of my favorite places to get news of Ukraine and Europe God bless Poland. God bless Ukraine,! Slava, Ukraine! My great grandmother was Polish and my great grandfather was Ukrainian much love from Austin, Texas!
Yeah, and russia's immediate response to baltics opposing the invasion and sending some humanitarian aid packages to the people of Georgia was to greatly hike gas prices to the baltics in an attempt to blackmail them. From that point on they've been slowly but surely decreasing their dependence on russia every year.
I can not imagine living in the Baltic states or Poland. I'm sure they are rich in culture and beauty. But living through the USSR must have been brutal. They worked their butts off to get into NATO. Welcome and please teach my politicians.
Every one seems to forget the soviets did forced relocation of Batic ststes as they retreated 1940. These people went to Siberia and the gulog system. Then the soviets reinvaded in 44. The world needs to say never again.
Latvia Georgia and Estonia are shining prospering examples of life after foreign occupation. Successful independent democratic freedom that Ukrainians are desperately still fighting for in Eastern Europe 80 years after WW2 ended and 30 since the entire Soviet System collapsed . Time our continent and all it's people were finally at peace and free to choose for themselves,

The only negative thing I can say about Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia is that they are too small as nations! I wish for them to grow to hundreds of millions of people! With huge respect and love from Ukraine!🥰
We have rejected that more than 30 years ago - there are everywhere young adults who were born in free country and to whom Soviet past is something exotic from granddads tales. We are post-whatever - post-Ivan Groznii or post-Peter I for example. For insane Putin that is like present-day, to us it is very ancient history. Would it be normal to speak continuously about Germany as post-Bismarck or post-Hitler state? Or about France as post-Vichy state?
As a Latvian, watching this video brought me great joy. In Latvia, there is a Polish minority; some have been historical residents, while others came after World War II with the occupying forces. Although there was a past tendency to call them Russians because of language barriers, both groups are now integrating and coexisting harmoniously. In other contexts, I might refer to them as Latvian Poles or Russian Poles. I love Poland and I see Poland as a historic allay and friendly nation. Thank you, buddies.
Thank you for shedding the light on this matter . Soviets did all it could to paint Baltic states as being without their own history ,identity .Soviets pretended to help us by acctually killing our greatest minds and talents ,and then said - look, those poor sods are not capable of anything , lets teach them our ideologies 😔. Sadly no one was punisbed for all they did to occupied countries, many russians up to this day do not understand that it was occupation not willing participation in soviet project . Soviets stolen so much from us , and material stuff is not the worst .But we have to look forward ,in order to do that we need the world to know who the Baltic countries really are , and that history of these countries go way back the soviet occupation ,way back the russian imperialistic attacks during many years in the past .We are our own countries ,with unique languages ,rich histories and love for freedom .Those who still remember USSR as something good are simply missing their youth or back at those times were told how to live and for them that was easier . We just want to progress without some tzar telling us how to live ....sounds so simple ,but tell that to dictator putin or his minions ....they can't progress themselves ,so lets destroy everything around ...such a pitty that in this day and age people with such a mindset still exist and our fight is clearly not over ,not with the neighbour like that .

Totally agree. And yet they are still surprised why there is russophobia in Baltics.
Glad to hear that Latvia has adopted the Finnish and Swedish approach of total defense.
And repudiation of soviet occupation.
There is some way to go...

There’s a saying that aptly describes Russians in the Baltics: 'No matter how much you feed the wolf, it will always look toward the forest'
Thank You, our dear Polish friends, for making truth heard. Greetings from Riga. God bless Poland!

Well said. Thank you. Good reporting. Strong Ukraine. Strong NATO. Strong Poland.
'They' were the first to call out the Russian invasion of Georgia in 2008.

I would like to say I'm proud of the three Baltics! Personally, I never considered them 'post-redski states'!
As a Latvian - good story, on point and true, well done
cool, we should stick together :)
About Time that the truth comes out. I shared this with my senator (I have his private number. ) I like this show immensely.

Nice report!
No soviet excuses and apologetics wanted from the ruzzian state. Soviet history is full of bs. Thanks for the clarification.

Georgia is pro-russian now and has been experiencing a lot of democratic backsliding.
Don't you mean Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia? Georgia is still partially occupied by Russian troops.

I love the way you described Serbia. To be honest they both are like on steroids of each other. The difference is their own specifics.
