    Cardassian ships are always my favorite. Not sure why. They are generally outgunned, but they tend to favor odds over quality. And the general shapes and dull color I can appreciate as well. A work horse. Not as fancy as the Federation, but with less things to break down.

      @@venomgeekmedia9886 Though in my personal opinion battles in your series were bit too equal. Cardassians were more likely using hit and run, traps and groups attacks on C-tier ships Federation was using to patrol this rather unimportant frontier region. Both sides most likely assume they face pirate raids as Starfleet was mostly focused on the Beta quadrant. Only when things escalated Federation start sending actually capable ship to restore order. Fortunately Cardassians develop Galor what was quite decent and after clashes, both sides finally realize that they deal with actual empires. So they agree on compromise, as Federation really didn't want move they proper forces from Klingon-Romulan border. I personally don't think that Ambasador would participate in the conflict and if, only as singular Command Ship. Because it would easily kill few Galors. But that is just my opinion.

    In many ways the Ekoor class shares much in common with the fanon Ares-Class from Star Trek Axanar. Both were made to combat a foe with a tech superiority in the fields of Starship weapons. As well as to be test-beds of newly developed tech and weapons systems for the long term plan of a new mainline cruisier. Those ships then being the Galor and Constitution class respectively.

    • @venomgeekmedia9886

      a good comparison. both were stopgaps using existing technology whilst the newer tech was still in development. and both were, sadly soon outgrown.

    like how you came up with the backstory. this is basically the Connie equivalent for the Cardassians in terms of the tech tree. basically, the Cardassians started with an NX equivalent when they ran into Starfleet. Also: we need a ship vs chats: ISD vs Dominion Battleship

    I'm not 100 percent but I'm pretty sure one of these designs did show up in Star Trek Armada II which has a playable Cardassian faction. And the design was used I think as their science/support class vessel that was able to open a rift into Fluidic Space to summon a Species 8472 bioship or as a medium cruiser.
    EDIT: they did use the Kulinor but I don't remember the role it played.

    • @venomgeekmedia9886
      @venomgeekmedia9886  4 роки тому

      yes the Kulinor is much more prolific in games and Mods. its a shame that the Ekoor doesn't enjoy that exposure. (btw i like that idea of summoning 8472 although i imagine it was a risky move and might backfire.)

    Yeah as cost and demands as Cardies could only build so many and have to pic as more powerful designs side line or replace
    Also looking around it seems the USS Odyssey was assigned to cover the Cardassian front with the Enterprise the in between like Kirk time after the loss of Far Point mean't Starfleet went through a consolidation time at the right time as after Wolf 359 more Galaxies being built then the Cardies could handle

    • @venomgeekmedia9886

      yeah in the border war series the cardassians never come up against a galaxy class. the biggest they face are ambassadors which are plenty powerful themselves.

    I think that the cardassians are much better at specialised ships. the galour class is a universal cruiser, and in my opinion, is the best reincarnation of a universal cruiser in star trek. the federations weakness is that they try to make everything a universal cruiser but end up with something like the galaxy class which is hindered by its generalisation. while some people suffer from over specialisation the federation suffers from over generalisation. the only universal cruisers that Starfleet had for a long time were the Miranda, nebula and new Orleans, which all are meant to have interchangeable pods which means that when you need them for a mission you just need to hope that the nearest star base has one lying around. The ekoor and the kolonor (probably butchered spelling) yes are specialised and have their weaknesses for it, but because they are designed alongside each other and meant to never be without the other it makes up for that. even the intrepid, which is called a science ship, has combat and speed in mind as we see in the dominion war where it was used as a long range scout and selected as a diplomatic ship for the romulans because of its combat capability.

    • @venomgeekmedia9886
      @venomgeekmedia9886  4 роки тому +1

      personally i felt that the Intrepid was more of a 'mini galaxy class'. and i think it is worth distinguishing between 'Universal cruisers' and 'explorers' which the federation use. i agree that the nebula and Miranda are the only true universal cruisers. and thats arguably because they are derived from already successful platforms.

    • @ISAF_Ace
      @ISAF_Ace 4 роки тому +1

      @@venomgeekmedia9886 that's true the intrepid did have more of a galaxy vibe to it. but with their universal ships like the galaxy class and freedom class and others they all have combat, no matter how light, in mind each federation ship tries to be something it isn't. like how the oberth was used in combat or the nova sent to dangerous missions (as in the equinox) which they are just not built for. it feels like Starfleet tries to cram everything in. I think in my own opinion that the best universal cruiser Starfleet ever put into production was the original series constitution class because it was used as a battlecruiser to fight the Klingons and push the boundaries of science in deep space.

    cardies always reminds me of fascist italy. they were both decadent nations with a long history and rich culture, a totalitarian military government, severe lack of resources, technologically backwards, ridden with nepotism and corruption, whose population is known for being extremely proud to the point of arrogance, which started rapid development but became a second grade power, their invasion plans twarthed by the poorly equipped natives they tried to dominate, got crushed and submitted by greater entitites, and after a gruesome civil war in which they ultimately switched sides they lost everything and became subservient to the current biggest power.
