    The three main things that are bringing me to conversion into Catholicism in no specific order are 1) Study of The Eucharist. 2) Thought about the oneness and universality of The Church. 3) St Thomas Aquinas.

      Thomas Aquinas justified the use of violence and coercion in order to force people to convert to the Roman Catholic faith (that is to submit to the Roman Pontiff) in total contradiction of previous orthodox teachings of popes such as saint pope of Rome Nicholas II who taught that coercion can't be used in matters of Christian faith because conversion has to be a spontaneous process othewise it is invalid.
      Thomas Aquinas is responsible for the brutality of the Roman Church towards those who didn't submit to the Roman Pontiff from the times of the inquisition to the times of the Jasenovac camp in Croatia during WWII.
      The second effect of that heterodoxy was the discredit the entirety of Christianity faced today because of those errors and crimes by Rome.
      Lord have mercy on us all sinners ☦

      @@calledtobedifferentthe Catholics are no different from Calvinists. Actually worse because at least Calvinists believe in eternal security. Catholics have no confidence in Jesus to save them, but each person must attempt to save themselves through sacraments, but can never know for certain they are saved because this is the “sin of presumption” which means if you presume you are saved that in itself will damn you to eternal torment in hell (another doctrine created by Catholics, even though you claim to believe God is love & there is no fear in love, Catholics do not know or teach God’s unconditional love).

      The Catholic church does not teach that at all! Should we be in Jesus' church united to his body, yes.... but it is not a requirement to get into heaven...
      The Catholic church teaches that those who do not know they are under the wrong church, listening to the wrong teachings... to no fault of their own... God will judge them based on their love for him and the fruits of that love.

      @@calledtobedifferent I am a ex cradle catholic. There is NO SALVATION outside the church that is why excommunication was such a dreadful verdict in days gone by, it was condemning someone to damnation. I agree that nowadays your pope says even atheist and Muslims can get to heaven but that's only since Vatican 2. Up till then the sacraments where required for salvation.

    • @calledtobedifferent
      @calledtobedifferent  5 днів тому

      @Caffer9286
      I would have to look these claims up... clearly, I am post vatican 2, so I can't speak for prior at the moment, but regardless clearly there is salvation outside of the church 🤔 so why say there isn't?
      Edit: Here is what I found on this topic. For pre vatican 2 explanations, so I am not sure where you got that information from. This is the same belief today.
      The excommunication of laypeople principally means that they are cut off from receiving the sacraments. It does not mean that the Church is condemning a person to hell. In fact, excommunication is intended to be a medicine to inspire people to repent and be reconciled to the Church. Once reconciled to the Church, that person may again receive the sacraments.
      If an excommunicated person dies without being formally reconciled to the Church, he can be saved if he truly and sincerely repents all of his mortal sins before death. Certainly, we may pray that a person in these circumstances be interiorly reconciled to God and the Church through full repentance before death.
      I might add that this is the same teaching as post vatican 2 as well... if you would like in depth explanation, I can pull the teachings from the catechism for post vatican 2 explanations. Let me know! Thanks!

    If anyone is thinking of becoming rc they should start with Scripture and compare them with rc doctrines and claims. Start with the papacy claims. Is there an office of the papacy in the NT? No. Did any bishop in the 1st century claim to be a pope i.e. chief shepherd of the church? No. Use the same method for other doctrines such as the Marian dogmas. It will shock you.

      I should say they should start reading Matthew 16:18 wherein Jesus founded a church. And then go through history and search where is that church now. Jesus said that even the gates would not prevail against His church. That church must have never fallen throughout history.
      If the claim of RCC is true that she is the true church founded by Christ, everything should follow (papacy, purgatory, Mary, etc) since Jesus said in Matthew 16:19 and Matthew 18:18 "...whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven". Whatever is approved by the Church is approved by Jesus. In other words, the church is infallible.

      @@calledtobedifferent Find a Church that has no false doctrines and is Orthodox in its Biblical interpretation and understanding. This has been very difficult. There are some non ISMs to avoid also. Cults like Unitarians. Oneness Pentacostal. Ect. You really have to check on what is the belief of the Church. Eastern Orthodox has 25 false doctrines, so it isn't Orthodox is it. Calvinism is horrendous. John Calvin was a drunk. I wouldn't touch anything he said or wrote.
      I planted a Church and was one of the Elders. All of the sudden the Pastor disbanded the Elders and made it Socialist. No old testament. It died and a Brazilian Church is there now. Assembly of God I think. The Methodist Church has been Gutted by Socialism.

      According to Calvinism, God actively chooses certain individuals to be saved, and he gives them grace that will unfailingly result in their salvation. Those whom God does not choose don’t receive this grace, so they are inevitably damned.

    📜 Jeremiah 1:4The word of the Lord came to me, saying,5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew a you, before you were born I set you apart;
    I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
    6“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
    7But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.
    8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
    9Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.
    10See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
    📜 Jeremiah 7: 2“Stand at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:
    “ ‘Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord.
    3This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.
    4Do not trust in deceptive words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”
    ...16“So do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you.
    17Do you not see what they are doing in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
    18The children gather wood, the fathers light the fire, and the women knead the dough and make cakes to offer to the Queen of Heaven.
    They pour out drink offerings to other gods to arouse my anger.
    19But am I the one they are provoking? declares the Lord. Are they not rather harming themselves, to their own shame?

      The Woman and the Dragon
      12 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. 4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.
      7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The great dragon was hurled down-that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
      10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
      “Now have come the salvation and the power
      and the kingdom of our God,
      and the authority of his Messiah.
      For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,
      who accuses them before our God day and night,
      has been hurled down.
