Correct! This game was probably intended to be more like what Vanquish would later become. Technically, Mikami-san and his team had an incredibly short development time window to get this game out per Capcom, so his full vision wasn't there at release. But, for what did release given the time frame, it's still a REALLY fun game! Thanks for checking out the review!
A stylish action shooter where you can do backflips, cartwheels, and summersaults, now I gotta play this game, only problem, I rarely come across this game in the wild and it is a Capcom game so yeah, either way, great review as always.
This game has gotten expensive on the GameCube and I don’t want to spend much on this game. I do have it on emulation and now want to try thanks to your episode, I enjoy the channel, cheers!
It’s definitely a game that’s gone up in price the past few years, but one I’d say is worth playing still. Let me know what you think of it when you play it! Thanks again for checking out the review, and your awesome comment about the channel!
Played this when it first came out. Loved it. Looked into how hard it would be to access it today and seems like too much work. So thanks for this video that brought back all the memories
Nice! Glad you have fond memories of this one, and appreciate you checking out the review! Trying to help provide that nostalgia through the content on this channel!
Just started playing this and I found out that if you hold the (left) control stick while hitting Z you can actually make it turn you 90 degrees. Really improves the overall controls
I've had the opportunity to pick this up a few times and I keep kicking myself. After watching this, I'm kicking myself even more! Love the character design. The aesthetics to this game look straight from the Metal Gear universe. I wouldn't expect the soundtrack to be so good so I was surprised to hear you say that. Next time I see this, I'm getting it!
Definitely nab it while you can, because prices are going up on this one. The character design is really cool, as are the aesthetics! The soundtrack is definitely great and one of the game's highlights! Thanks again for checking out the review!
I know I said this in your hidden gems video but this really is just such a good game to me, the short length is perfect because you can out it down for ages and then just power through it randomly years later and it doesn't last long enough to get boring. Even the copy-pasted rooms and hallways gave me more of a feeling of learning how to get through them most efficiently as opposed to feeling repetitive. I dunno, maybe I just look more for the good over remaining unbiased, but ultimately I enjoyed the hell out of it, great review!
The short length is definitely fine in my eyes, as I tend to replay games much more because of that. It does have a feel that makes you want to perfect your runs. I always thought I was one of the few that appreciated and enjoyed this game far more than critics. It was far from perfect, but a fun time for sure that I replayed countless times. Thanks for checking out the review man!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! It’s definitely a lesser known exclusive for the system, which is another reason I wanted to cover this game. Thanks again for checking it out!
Wow! How have I not heard of this game!? It reminds me a little of say ONI meets Winback meets Devil may cry? 🤔 So strange! I’m intrigued! Samus, EAT YOUR HEART OUT! Maybe even a little AeonFlux. Great review dude! Def gonna be looking into this one!
Thank you man! Glad you enjoyed this! It's a much lesser known game, and one I would consider a hidden gem for the GameCube. It's not a perfect game or one that will be for everyone, but it's a unique one that stands out in my opinion. I always enjoyed this one despite some issues. Definitely try to nab this one sooner rather than later since prices are going up for it!
Thank you man! It’s definitely a hidden gem for the GC that not many remember or know of. Although, out of all the titles in the Capcom 5, Killer7 is definitely the weirdest (and one that I look forward to covering one day)!
One thing I like about the way this game was made is that the enemies always telegraph when they're about to attack you, wither it's through elaborate animations, or just a whir like sound and a flash of light on the guns before they fire. Heck, this game is mostly designed around the fact that you can't move & shoot at the same time. Vanessa calls the first boss, Sonneblume "Mister Giraffe". I think this might be a reference to the Capcom Mech simulator game on XBox, Steel Battalion, as that is a type of mech in that game. I could be wrong but you never know (Capcom like's their Easter eggs). Speaking of other Capcom games, I find it funny that the targeting system used in this game, where you auto lock on an enemy and press a button to toggle it, was sorta reused in Mega Man X 7. I know that game has it's issues ( a lot of them) but I still enjoy it non the less. On the topic of controls, I always though the side dodging might work better if instead of double tapping the R & L buttons for a cartwheel, you would just instead press the buttons al the way in until they click. Maybe I'm just a bit too fixated with that function but it just makes sense to me here, especially since you already have to do a normal dodge before a cartwheel anyways. If this game ever got a sequel, then I'd want 5 things. 1) improvements with the story & writing. Help flesh out the world and characters more you know 2) The ability to walk and shoot at the same time. I imagine that Venessa would walk like she's on a runway while doing so (if you've ever played a Bayonetta game, then that's the kinda "walk & gun" animation I'm talking about) 3) dual palm shots. Why CAN'T she fire energy from both hands at once? Take out 2 targets at a time or concentrate fire on one for double power 4) more diverse environments. Give me places that feel REAL and lived in. & 5) More mission verity. I like getting to the end and killing the boss as much as the next guy, but the framing of this game, with "Missions" and your client chatting in your ear all the time, it feels like I should be doing other things, like rescuing people, destroying key targets, hacking computers, doing recon ect. This also kinda goes with the better writing and more diverse environments points I mentioned earlier.
All very well said! Capcom does like their Easter Eggs, and love when studios do that. Good comparison with the lock-on mechanic. I still need to play Mega Man X7 (which I have with the Legacy Collection). I agree the L&R triggers could've utilized pressure sensitivity for initiating the cartwheel animation! All the improvements you'd wish would happen in a sequel are all on-point! Thanks for checking out the review!
I still pronounce the title as "Piano 3", and I still remember how it had the same music as RE4 mercenaries mode. It took me a while to get into it, but I liked it. Sadly, by the time I enjoyed the game, I got a bit bored of the environments.
“Piano 3” 😂. Yes! I remember noticing that immediately about the music being used in RE4 Mercenaries mode 👍. It’s a game that is for a niche audience for sure, but I enjoyed my time with it more than a majority of others. The environments were bland, but the gameplay and music kept me engaged. Thanks for checking out the review man!
I’ve never played this but I know it’s received a lot of love over the years. Haha 😆 the G string suit lol. Wow man 2 hours....yea that’s short. Great review brother hope all is well.
Yeah, it’s garnered more fans over the years I’ve noticed. And yeah, the G-String suit…I had to say it 😂. It’s literally what the gaming community called it back in the day lol! It is a short game, but I felt that helped with the replayability luckily. Glad you enjoyed the review man!!
This is definitely reminiscent of a PS2-era third-person action title. The visuals were decent. The gameplay looked fun. I’m glad I found out about this as I have never heard of this or the “Capcom five.” Just more great nuggets of information from this excellent channel!
Glad you learned about a new game for the GC, and briefly about the “Capcom 5”! The other games part of that were: Dead Phoenix (which was cancelled unfortunately), Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4, and Killer7. P.N. 03 was the only one that actually remained exclusive! Glad you enjoyed the review!
I've always been tempted in getting this but didn't bother. I love Killer 7 to note. This kind of reminds me of gungrave in a way. Great work as usual pal
Thanks for checking out the review man! I'd say this is definitely still worth getting around too for sure. Killer7...now there's an awesome game I'm very much looking forward to reviewing on the channel one day.
Oh, one last thing, I don't think you need to get a professional rank on every level, but rather I think you just need a professional average by the end of the game to unlock the Pappillon. Or it might just be in the trial missions. (Getting a professional rank in a trial mission just means entering all 15 rooms, nothing else matters in those)
I finished the game this week and I see it more like a puzzle\twitch hythm game. It is repetitive but so are most games of this type. For me, the game play was highly addictive and felt great. Definitely a precursor to Vanquish\Bayonetta.
Vanessa doesn't just dance well, her hips shake like nobodys business. Almost like the developers really like curvy ladies from music videos. Plus Jennifer Hale while she doesn't get a lot of lines does well with what she has.
100% agreed! This was a hidden gem for me on the GameCube, and one I always enjoyed when it released. Still to this day, it's an enjoyable one for me. Thank you for checking out this review!
Haha it was considered a commercial and critical failure for Capcom (approximately 80,000 units sold worldwide). The graphics were really good (and you could see the early works in art direction for RE4 here, especially the facial texture work). This is starting to go up in price, roughly $50. Since it’s still exclusive to the GC, it’s best to nab this sooner than later if interested! Thanks again for checking out the review man!
The game might look good but it’s actually not very good. Mostly because the control scheme is just horrendous. One of the very very few Capcom games I don’t actually like which is surprising cause I love anything they do (minus this and SFV)
That’s fair, as it’s a game I know many weren’t overly fond of. I personally enjoyed it for what it was, but it definitely had room for improvement. Thank you for checking out the review!
I finally beat this game last night.
Been working on it off and on for like 3 years. Great game.
Nice! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking out the review as well!
Instantly reminded me of the more recent Vanquish for Xbox 360. Upon doing research Mikami was hands on both projects !

Glad you enjoyed the review! If you can find a copy, nab it sooner rather than later if interested in it…it’s going up in price lately.

Totally missed this at the time. Visually Bayonetta like but seems like it controls completely differently. Another great review!
I could see the similarities to Bayonetta. I never thought of it that way! Glad you enjoyed the review man!
Thanks for putting me onto this game. Got a copy recently and am enjoying it!
Glad to hear!! That’s awesome you got a copy, and that you’re enjoying it! Thanks for checking out the review!
@@GameCubeGalaxythanks, too, for your recent review of the battlerGC pro controllers! Got a pair of them puppies on the way :)

Great content my friend, you got yourself a new subscriber.
Thank you man! Greatly appreciate it, and glad you enjoyed the review!!
Awesome review man I remember owning this back in the day and I 100% remember it feeling repetitive
Thank you man! Yeah, it’s repetitive for sure, and not for everyone, but it’s definitely a guilty pleasure of mine despite its setbacks lol
You captured some great footage. It's clear you know how to play. 👍
Thank you! I try to showcase well-played gameplay as much as possible 👍👍
Just started playing this and I found out that if you hold the (left) control stick while hitting Z you can actually make it turn you 90 degrees. Really improves the overall controls
That's correct! That's honestly a game changer mechanically, and adds more depth to it. Thanks for checking out the review man!

Loved this game. It looked so impressive for the time.
It is a nice looking game! Great lighting, texture work, character models, and animations. Thank you for checking out the review!
