Don’t Buy a Harbor Freight Ring Roller Before Seeing This!

  • I bought a Harbor Freight ring roller and took it apart to inspect it. I found the grease passages of all three axles full of grit, with one entirely plugged with the mystery grit as well as steel chips. Off camera I took the entire tool apart, cleaned it and deburred/polished the drive gears since there are no thrust bearings. Probably the biggest defect is the stand (the part the moveable roller is attached to) is made of plastic. Not saying it isn’t worth getting for light duty, but be aware that it is what you should expect from Harbor Freight.

If they would just do some quality control and replace that plastic swing arm with a steel one this would be a great little roller. It’s a shame. Thanks for the heads up!

Use air pressure through the holes to lube the sleeve.

I wish Swag would make a metal replacement for the plastic part. Mine broke, and it's been on the list of things to machine for years now. Lol

Same here. It’s still sits on my workbench, more or less unuseable

That looks to be the left over grit and trash from a large industrial vibratory tumbler/ polisher....

No dead spiders, tho! Learned from ToT and others that it pays to take some tools apart and give a good inspection/cleaning before use.

If it rotates, has “” bearings”” or uses Electricity and from HF, buyer beware.
