I have to give a heavy recommendation to Dan Hawkins Bass Lessons. While I land on the occasional viewing of SBL or the likes, I always seem to end up demotivated with how fast a video's pace can be sometimes and I'm left stranded after not being able to keep up. Dan Hawkins has a very timely way of explaining different concepts and demonstrating them, making sure you absolutely understand the theories and techniques behind certain bass concepts. His videos are on the longer end of the spectrum, but heavily worth investing 30 minutes of your day into. Sidenote: Inspiration-wise, I always go to your channel, Philip! The way you film, edit, and pace your videos always serves as an inspiration to me to embrace the creative bass juices in my brain.
DUDE. What a legend. Thank you so much for shouting us out! ❤ We've always been fans of your work so it's truly a landmark moment for us to be mentioned in this list.
Dude, thank you thank you thank you!!! Combining my first love of music and my second love of videography/photography has opened a whole new world for me and it’s been a fun and crazy ride, but getting to meet and talk to other incredible musicians like you has definitely been the highlight! Cheers, hermano!
Im a fan of Mark at TalkingBass and Dan Hawkins. Unfortunately they have more than 100k subs but thought id mention anyway. I like this channel too though, keep up the good work!
As another commenter said, Rich Brown’s - The Brown’stone channel is great, and Paul Thompson’s pdbass channel is also wonderful. Both are over 100k subs though. Also check out The Wetter Bass - he focuses on bass pedals & effects. As always, thanks for your awesome videos!!
Thanks for this. I'll definitely be checking out the channels I hadn't heard of before (I already think amp and lobster are great). I'd love to see a video of channels in the 100-300k range - pdbass and Kinga Głyk are some faves of mine up there
Thanks, Phillip. Very civilised and civil. As Jonny said, you're a true gent. Some of my favourites you already mentioned, like JonnyDible and Lobster. Others less known: Jonathan Wong, only about short-scale basses (lots of experiments swapping pickups in Bronco and Mustangs, including Curtis Novak, Nodstrand, SDs), and BassAdvisor from Spain (English subtitles, good reviews, excellent playing), Sonojono (good reviews and playing, fun to watch). And last but not least, of course, your channel is probably my favourite. I don't see the need for the mic on hands, however. I know there are a lot of people doing that, but is distracting and doesn't add.
The only channel I wasn't subscribed to in this video is Bassed, but I am now, so thanks for that, I will have to check it out. I also like Legends of Bass (although he hasn't posted anything new in 4 years), Josh Fossgreen (who became BassBuzz), Dave Porter, and of course my favorite Philip Conrad. You're always trying to catch up on the chat, and I've been trying to catch up to your current videos. Only one more and I'm caught up. Thanks buddy, you're channel is awesome.
He's a little over 100k, but I want to shout-out @pdbass for highlighting lesser known bass players from genres and time periods that don't get as much attention. Stuff like 80s funk and R&B that I vaguely remember from childhood. But not just that -- his interests are wide ranging.
Love all the ones you mentioned! Also love Rich Brown Brownstone, Rufus Philpot, MarloweDK, Bass Stuff, Justin Raines, Scott Whitley, Ryan Madora, Edd from world music method, to name a few 😂 thank you Philip for a rad channel! Hope it keeps going ✌🏻
I think a lot of content creators would shy away from doing a video like this - not because they don't wanna drive people away, but because they assume everyone already knows all these people. So, I'm just adding this comment to say, I didn't know ANY of these channels, and it was super helpful see all these new (to me) people to discover.
Danny Sapko and Scotts Bass Lessons!! Not sure about subscriber count but Danny likes to experiment with bass (like putting vaseline or barbecue sauce on the strings and seeing how it affects playability and tone) or recreate bass tones on Shorts, looking at funny videos pertaining to bass, and posts a long form video every Friday. Scott is more into discussing bass topics with longer videos about models or tone or famous bassists
Other comments are mentioning BassBuzz and he is great too! I don't play bass (yet) and I've already learned a lot to get me going when my bass arrives!
This is my favourite bass channel 👍 Dude is not annoying, know stuff and this is a big one: videos look and sound pleasant! I can not understand how so many audio nerds fail the last point 😂
Well, you named most of mine, AMP, Johnny Dibble, Patrick Hunter and Low End Lobster. I also enjoy Bully thaKid. Oh, CARP!! I almost forgot Danny Sapko, that guy makes me laugh. BEHS!!
Donstrumental "Riddim up, my *Reggae* bass lovers!" www.youtube.com/@donstrumental8905/featured Under 41k subscribers, only 21 videos, but this is the first place I go for learning Reggae bass.
All of the above! Shout out to @ivanbassist as well. Great gear reviews and warm personality. Another vote for Jim Stinnet at Real Bass Lessons. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago. He was a great teacher.
Great picks for your list! Patrick especially has been a constant for me ever since I picked up the bass. Here's a list of sub100k channels that I really love: Amos Heller - Super clean and well polished gear reviews and covers. Also he's Taylor Swift's bass player so he's actually a beast. Andrew Freed - An educational channel with a really chill but upbeat vibe. Drake Martin - Best way I can describe him is a Joe Dart disciple. Great covers and bass line analysis vids! Evan Marien - A jazz fusion phenom with all sorts of videos. Jermaine Morgan - Gospel bass teacher with a bunch of content tho imo his best stuff are his backing tracks and lick breakdowns. Jonathan Wong 458 Music - A no nonsense bass channel demoing mainly budget short scale basses and their mods. Definitely someone up your alley. Levi McClain - More of a nerdy music theory channel ala Adam Neely, but also has sick chops on this weird fretless short scale bass. mikedeeez - Some of the coolest videos on bass electronics. Rib13 Bass - A really funny channel with a unique style. Gear reviews and advice/stories from a working session player. Reggie Parker - An old school gospel bass legend complete with old man ramblings and original music. ぴんはげのサブチャン - Technically this is cheating since this is a secondary channel for pinkhage_bassplayer, who has 200k subs, but I can't leave out the surprisingly big youtube bass ecosystem in Japan. So many names I wanna mention that are over 100k but all of them are monster players that are really fun to watch, even if you don't understand Japanese. This guy particularly I'd say is like a japanese Davie504, with more of a focus on comedy, challenges, and collabs. There's a lot more channels I'm into but a lot of them are either dead or exclusively post jam videos which would probably be more suited to that Instagram bass players video. Hope anyone reading this finds these guys as entertaining as I do.
Tom Bornemann - a German bassist who does some great demo videos. No talk, just plays the bass line with backing track with great TAB / music scrolling on screen. TAB available through his Patreon site. Also Dan Hawkins as mentioned by someone else.
The wetter Bass - very high quality pedal reviews, Great playing and creative tone jo choui - usually tube amp comparisons. Really simple videos with incredible tone and taste Sonojono - fun reviews from a smaller channel IvanBassist - all around great bass channel Juliet plays bass - really great playing clips and creative writing
I don't really pay attention to subscriber counts so I was surprised that so many of the channels you mentioned (that I also follow) were below 100k subscribers. The one channel that immediately came to mind for me is unfortunately a bit over 100k, but it seems that most of the channels on my radar are below that.
Im with others shouting out for Dan Hawkins. When Dan is teaching it stays with me. I also love listening to Janek these days. I feel in the lat year or two he has become much more relatable, maybe more humble than I previously thought. For gear you have to love Gregor Fris on Bass the World. Great insights great snappy vids and such a lovely guy.
One of the, many, things the Philip Conrad channel does well is to use good rhythm tracks. The clarity, pacing, and atmosphere work well for the bass lines.
Thanks for this and thank you to all the commenters who added others I didn't know about. In a world posing challenges to sanity, the online bass and music community in general, is a blessed place to spend time in. The sharing, acknowledgement of others and admiration of both legacy and new innovations, represents the best of what people are capable of. If only more of our existence was attuned to that way of being.
I was already subscribed to Janek and saw videos of another couple. Will check up the rest. I don't have much more to add, I guess you left the most famous ones 'cause they are already famous. I'll just mention Adam Neely but I think everyone already know him and BassTheWorld, a german (english spoken) channel which talks a lot about gear (a lot of Thomann stuff) but their bass player guests are fenomenal.
Shout out to @AMP! You and him are the only two bass channels I follow cuz yall are more level-headed than most others! I would've mentioned him in the comments if you hadn't mentioned him. That even makes me wanna check out the other channels!
These guys all have over 100k but may be worth checking out for any follow up vid Travis Dykes is a class act and always has useful information whether it's teaching genre-specific licks/riffs, or tour vlogs and gear reviews CoverSolutions was super helpful to me when I was starting out Nate Navarro is such a technical monster player, but his gear reviews and demos are super helpful after I pick my jaw up off the floor haha
I watch TJH1113, which is Troy Hughes. His covers are spot on and he does sometimes talk about the basses in his collection as well. His is one of the few channels where I read his comment regularly. And if you need a follow along to learn a Rush song, he's the one I would watch!

BullyThaKid! I'm sure you've heard of him, but his review videos are all super honest, and he just exudes a chillness in his videos that makes watching a blast!
JHL is who I watch when I want to be humbled. That guy is phenomenal. If you’re at all into bebop, he knows how to capture the essence of the music and perfectly execute it on electric bass.
Know Your Gear, Bass Buzz, Dan Hawkins Bass Lessons, Talking Bass, Fusilli Jerry, Bully the Kid, Ivanbassist, Darics Bass Lessons, Backwards Bass, Naty On Bass, Bass the World, Luke from Become a Bass a Player.
So he only recently cracked the 100K follower ceiling, so technically out of scope for this video, currently at the criminally small 124k followers, another vote for The Brown'stone from Rich Brown. He is the Bob Ross of Bass.
I really like @mina-bass, but she's hit almost 500k subs now. Her content is not in English, so I'm not sure how many people in the West are familiar with her. I truly like how she showcases that Asian, fast-paced, pop-music, slap style. Plus she has a super cute smile. She's a monster of a player in a tiny package.
BassBuzz is my absolute favorite when it comes to teaching bass. He’s a phenomenal teacher
THIS guy IS a GREAT TEACHER.
Rich Brown - The Brown'stone YT channel
10000000000000% agree.
@@tolstoy21 Yes, definitely enjoy his lessons. A great teacher, and very pleasant and relaxing too.
Hello friends and neighbours!
Thanks SO much for the shout-out and kind words Philip! You are a true gent 😍
“A true djent”
My channel wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Jonny - forever in debt! Thank you. Love the Pod too 😀
Hey Jonny, this would make a good list for future guests for your pod? Do love the pod!

Mono Neon !
Dan is the man!
Dan is great. I love SBL but usually when I want to learn something new I go to Dan’s channel.
Dan is amazing, but he has so. many videos about similar topics that I struggle to keep continuity with his lessons
Thanks so much for the shout out! I really love our little community and it’s better because you’re in it!
Thanks dude!!

Jonathan Wong 458 has been a great information source for modding. Great callout.
Seconding @BeholdenToTheRiff !
Rib 13 is so dope. Super small channel, has cool stories from playing in the 80s. Kind of a boomer but super cool entertaining

Janek Gwizdala's channel is one of the best resources of knowledge for bass players that I've come upon
Janek & especially his books have to be one of the most underrated bass resources online. Awesome video & couldn’t agree more
Jayme Lewis over at Deadbeat studios. Great studio application focused information and his lessons library is incredible.
Low End University! Great break downs on songs and other bassists.
i really appreciate this video
i have a difficult time finding bass youtubers
its always mostly guitarists so this is very helpful

If I recall correctly, he’s teaches bass at Pitt. He was also Stanley Turrentine’s last bass player.
Love Iván Carranza’s videos.
Travis Dykes, Andrew freed, Amos Heller (t swift's bass player) has some good demos and educational stuff

i'm a huge fan of @LeoBassCovers2. If I'm trying to learn a tricky part of a song, odds are he's covered it and provides the tabs to play along with.
Pocket Jams / rhythm tracks to play along with
1 more (again sticking to less than 100k subs) Arianne Cap, Ari’s Bass Blog.
These are great channels!!
Jo Bass is really good for pedal demos. Ran into his vids a lot over the years.
I like AMP, PDBass, Ted Talks Bass, and Paul DiBello
LowEndLobster is responsible for at least 3 of my 5 basses. Was he in a hyatus? That's why I saved something.

I'd like to contribute to the discussion by recommending Evan Marien. He's an absolute beast on bass.
I’m real big on Travis Dykes channel
I definitely would recommend Paajanenae
Obrad Lacarac is a channel I really like for doing side by side gear comparisons of basses and amps with no talking. He does a great job!
Anthony Mutharajah developed my playing infinitely
Kade Turner has some amazing stuff. He also has a podcast that covers all sorts of topics.
I love all his recent Warwick content
if your not following Johnny Lee Long what are you doing with your life? great bass content!
Shadakaka!
Basstheworld and Amos Heller are a couple of my favorites.

Anthony Muthurajah. His videos have helped my playing immensely
@DannySapko makes me laugh, which is refreshing among a sea of tutorials (which are all awesome in their own right).
Steve Burke only has about 3k subscribers, and hasn't uploaded in about 6 months, but he's an amazing player and communicator who deserves more attention.
BassBuzz is also a great channel ☝🏻
