I love Toronto got a guy that can big body guys In the corner to keep possession . This will feed the team with opportunities as the season goes on. I do think Toronto may have slightly overpaid.
Yeah, good athlete and thinks the game fairly well. He isn’t graceful, that combined with his antics and physicality make people underestimate his skill.
Been watching Rangers hockey for over 25 years. Reavo completely reenergized the dynamic of our team last year and gave us the protection we needed for our star players. In a game dominated by skill now, it’s nice to see someone with that old-school hockey mentality.
One of my favorite players. Love his grit and playing style. He’s got that undefinable quality a good enforcer has. Players fear him, that is just as important as the ability to score sometimes. I’d love to have him play for the canes.
He's more of a policeman, the cop on the beat, the protector. Ryan is like Nick Fotiu was, he does little fighting and is a presence with his bodychecking and plays hockey.
I enjoyed Reaves in Vegas, as long as he was able to avoid bad penalties when he doesn’t take the other guy with him. Plays well within his limitations, not merely a goon.
@@jimknowlton342 No Probert was dumped by Scotty Bowman like an old shoe! Scotty used Kocur as a checker on the Grind Line as they won 2 Cups and Joey played 37 playoff games. Probert was gone like Dave Schultz by Bowman!
Reavo's presence on this team is understated. It is apparent that he strengthened the fabric of the NY Rangers - his defined contribution allows his teammates to elevate their game. As THE LAST bona fidus ENFORCER in the game, Ryan Reave's stature has achieved accolades and comparison to the great enforcers en era ago - tough guys like Dave Semenko, Dale Hunter, Bobby Probert, Marty McSorley, Joey Kocur, Rudy Poeschek, and Dave Schultz, come to mind. I hope Reavo gets a chance to watch this video. He ought to know how much we truly admire his impact on the game.
As a VGK fan it was obvious the punishment our guys took when he wasn't playing. When he was in the game people second guessed taking liberties with our players. I was sad to see him go but happy he went to the Rangers after that disgusting Wilson occurrence.
Can't even begin to express how happy I am that he's in MN. He's carrying the spirit of MN hockey, putting your body on the line for the puck. We had a great one in Boogaard, I'm hoping Reaves can keep the legacy of the Minnesota Boogeyman going.
I was born in Minnesota in 1973 so I grew up playing hockey. The enforcer has slowly gone away but it is also slowly creeping back. I go to high school hockey games from north to south and hockey is as violent as it's ever been at this level. Hockey is not changing but there's nobody that wants to fight Ryan Reeves for god sakes!! This does not mean the enforcer is done and gone from hockey!
Life has a way of balancing things. The more the game loses enforcers, the more valuable good new enforcer types will be. Albeit modern enforcers not straight goons like the past.
He is so much more skilled than some of those enforcers in '80-90. I think he would have scored lot of points too if he would have played during that era.
Ryan Reaves is SO underrated its criminal, i would have him on my team at 38 any day of the week, what he brings ot a locker room and on ice is MASSIVE. people just want point scorers and thts fine but you need a balance of everything

What I love the most about Reaves (and Trouba really) is the fact that all of his hits are clean now. He had a couple of cheap shots early in his career, but now, you rarely see him get a penalty for a hit of his. They are always good, solid, clean checks
Brilliant pick up. Was surprised that he went to Minn, but it's a business and Rangers needed some deadline cap. Great Ranger. Hit everything out there. Just his presence was a game changer. Great locker room guy. He's missed. This edit was really well done.
Love Reaves attitude on and off the ice. Look at all the videos of him and Deslauriers. I believe Ryan won two fights. Deslauriers also younger than Reaves. As long as the next generation of enforcers can skate and produce points. They wont go away completely.
Ya gotta love this guy he's a team player & will stick up for his teammates in a Heartbeat, I was Really mad when the Rangers Released him then Minnesota wild picked him up, he's doing pretty good in Minnesota but I guess they had there Reasons to let him go, I wish Ryan Reaves all the luck in the WORLD YOU WERE A GREAT NY RANGER. 👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊
DUDE! Honestly, welcome to Minnesota! I sincerely hope you find a home in this hockey state. I loved and hated you since Nevada, but the one thing I respected was your hockey acumen. I really hope you find a home here!
When you REALLY review what Tom Wilson did to Buchnevich, he should receive a lifetime ban. His stick is underneath the throat of Buchnevich and it is WHY Wilson weighs all of his body weight on top of Buchnevich. The scary part is that the way Buchnevich is laying, his arms are pinned and he’s absolutely defenseless. Wilson’s actions could have crushed Buchnevich’s windpipe and Wilson was WELL aware of this fact. I don’t advocate for Wilson’s banishment though, if he were to be crippled during a hockey play, that’d satisfy.
Love your videos. Some other NHL channels are either stat ramblers without in game content or overexited babblers. Hope this content can be monetized as it is much better. As an Avs fan I took notice on when Reaves was on the ice for the Golden Knights. We will dress Curtis MacDermid for the next matchup with the Rangers. Cheers to them both.
Thanks very much. But no, any profits go to the rights holders. The current plan is to hold out until Hockey Truffles is acquired by Denmark in exchange for the other half of Hans Island. That's not your island, Denmark! Hands off, now. Git.
Great vid - truly you need to edit trailers for movies. You have a good feel for the subject. You even gave context for his arrival after the Rangers suffered an embarrassing beat down from a rival. I never saw JD crying and saying goodbye. That was great add on.
He’s a diehard hockey player too. When they 2012 lockout happened he was a mainstay NHL player, but he went and played a few games for his buddy that coaches the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL!
Kurtis MacDermid would like a word with you....and you can bring Ryan with you..... No doubt Reaves is and has been an enforcer for years, but no way he's the last...nice video you put together though, high quality effort!

He's such a unicorn. Like a mysterious player from the 70s expansion era. Don't even understand where he came from. Seems like one year, a decade ago or so, it just became accepted fact in NHL circles that a loch ness monster named Ryan Reaves would from time to time be taking a regular shift with the other 11 forwards.
He doesn’t need to be an enforcer, he’s a protector. Look how quiet Wilson has been against the Rangers. Maybe some of the Rangers forwards can chip in for his salary and keep the Rangers under the cap and hold onto Reaves. He’s worth it!
Unfortunately! But he's not alone wherever he is now, I think it's the Wild NY has the "8 train" Jacob Trouba, reminds me a little of Scott Stevens. I'm not a Jersey fan but I loved to watch Stevens play
And not only that, he is a big presence in the locker room. As a Rangers fan, I was pissed when they traded him, he was the only real tough guy, except for Trouba, to a certain extent, but was also a huge part of Rangers chemistry. If you saw some of the rituals he brought to the team and the videos he made with the other Ryans on the team called "Off the Boards with The Ryans", he kept things light and was a leader. The reason he was traded was supposedly because he wasnt playing well , even though he didnt play much and the 4th line isnt playing well without him. Also they are supposedly freeing up cap space for a trade, probably Patrick Kane, but im still pissed lol But, we ll see what the Rangers do with that money before the trade can be fully judged.
