Nina's death was incredibly sad. She was a victim of the justice system , just like Weasel. Also, it's wild how incredibly caked up the women in this show are. Hats off to Gunn and his animators!
i love how in the suicide squad blood sport literally got his crew a get out of jail free card with a bribe, but somehow king shark fucked it up and ended back in jail (probably or probably not what happened who knows)
What I’m saying fr. They got a whole taser just sitting there, then they could’ve tacked him. But he went straight for the gun. The cops in this show is the definition of incompetence.
This show has shown the worst side of this universe-- literally EVERYONE is a dick. Which I think will really highlight how Superman is special and different-- “Kindness in a world that thinks Kindness is Old Fashioned.”
Like look at how Nina was treated because of her kindness- To the point she was pressured to go against her beliefs which led to her death. Superman will stand by his ideals and show everyone’s potential for Good without turning back on them.
He's not. He's playing dead because the plan was to have him found out. That is how the hit on the princess was called off. Because they saw him there.
I will say this finale had a lot of pros and cons to it as I do wish the show had at least one more episode to flesh out everything with feeling a bit rushed however I will say watching Nina's backstory with her upbringing and struggles of her disabilities and as a burden to her father just to die by the princesses hand was so devastating as she truly didn't deserve to die. But watching her origin while just a couple minutes later seeing her die just like that feels very anticlimactic and made Nina feel useless in the overall show, though I do like how Nina's empathy had an impact on the Bride as we see her grow past her jaded cynicism and avenge Nina's death by killing the Princess. Admittedly, this show, despite having some great animation, fight scenes, and really good characters, is probably James Gunn's weakest project, but I do think it's still very solid show. I think the finale & the main plot with the princess could've been better written with more focus. BTW Im a bit confused what made Princess Illana so evil or what her motivation was since we never really got a great understanding of what made her so dangerous for the DCU that Circe, of all characters, apparently cared enough to attempt to kill her, and then the Bride just kills her off just like that as there is a lot of unanswered questions? 7.5/10
Nina being useless the whole season is the whole point, she is not a monster or a killer and that is why she died, another episode is not necessary and nothing felt rushed
Seems you didn't get some stuff. Nina's death was done that way on purpose. She was just a human. The climax was tragedy. As for the princess. We saw her with two villains and strange tech. She's likely been backed by real villains and with that backing would be the spearhead of a greater attack. Without her those villains go back to planning. With her they wage a war that burns the world. I would not be surprised to learn Lex Luthor was backing her nations military plans. She was no threat yet of course. However things were building. If left alone for a few more years she could have become a world war starting dictator. A pawn in a proxy war used to kill enemies of powerful villains.
What is the definition of a monster? Is it someone who looks like one or someone who commits monsterous acts? This show tells me you can look different and still show more humanity than anyone else . Nina was proof of that while folks like Waller and the cop that shot Nina's father are the real monsters.
Can’t blame Weasel for what he’s been through. Hey going out like that did get Nina killed was sad but Weasel couldn’t help himself. He’d considered as a redemption.
Nina was the most tragic character one of my favorite things about this show is her relationship with Bride someone who has always had her back and brides first real friend. Maybe I’m delusional but i think she’s coming back we never saw what happened after she was in the water where’s her body? Also in the beginning when Waller said “get her in water it’s a different story” that would be wasted potential if she doesn’t come back. I never doubted Circe for a second that princess was sus since day one but Bride is one of my favorite characters ever
"A Very Funny Monster" is what the princess called The Bride right before she took a bullet to the head. I love your reactions and love when you guys predict things far in advance and even when you guys are wrong, it makes it enjoyable and fun to see when yall cook. It's sad to see how seriously people take reaction videos period
How they handled Nina and Ilana's death really bothered me. One Nina had no combat training or killing experience. Yet she was pushed to go kill the princess who the others new was dangerous. She shouldn't have been the one. When Ilana kills Nina the Bride takes no responsibility and blames it entirely on the princess. Then the Bride kills Ilana. It was way to sudden. We never learn her motivations, her story. She should have returned in s2 where the show fleshes her out more. Two wasted characters.
After seeing the finale, it’s now that I’m seeing a CRAZY cycle with this show : it’s the good and morally decent that die senselessly. •Rick Flag Sr’s Son death in Corto Maltese 2 Yrs ago •Eric Frankenstein’s Father/Creator •The Kids at the school •The Old Woman tending to Eric Frankenstein •Phosphorus’s Wife and Son •Aleksei (he was fun, right?) •Dr. Mazursky…..&…. - sigh - ….& Nina. The Good people in this show shape the morally grey characters into who they all become, for better or worse….
Okay so I feel there's some shenanigans at play. The bride shot the princess right. Her mom is like a hundred years old. She's like in her late twenties? If that. Who gave birth to that girl. Someone said if you read the books on the shelf one of them is about the bride and Frankenstein. Among other things so what if this girl gets to come back to life. She already knows about clayface what if she can be reanimated. An Android? forbidden spell? Mybe she's a succubus.. rautf al ghul came back so many times. This plot line may come back in a season 3.
I also think there might be more to it. Her madness could definitely be pit related. Like she's on the verge but if she has the backing I think she does from what we have seen, well she could become an issue. This could be a Young Justice Light situation with her as the Hitler style pawn.
Nina is characterized as a monster because she’s an outsider just like G.I. robot. The bride and phosphorus phosphorus humanity was stolen from him. Therefore he had no choice, but to take up the life of a villain you could say the bride looks the way she looks and the only love she ever felt besides the friendship she had with Nina was from Dr. Frankenstein, who treated her like a person. Weasel cannot communicate his real feelings because he’s more animal than Man 🔥🎥 and was seen as a monster, though he was only playing with those kids, and when the fire broke out, he was trying to rescue him, but the cops and the old man only saw him for what he looked like. GI robot was put in jail for leaning into his true nature of eliminating the threat of Nazis and not being able to adapt to a “normal life”. Nina is seen as a frog and treated as a frog by the other students in her class and much like the rest of society to see her as an underwater sea creature.
So something to look forward to next season- that Mummy guy apparently has the power to heal people in the comics and if what I read was true, he's done it to Nina (or a character similar to her) before. Knowing Gunn and how he writes his character arcs, I refuse to believe that this is the last we've seen of Nina. It'd be interesting if she's revived and has darker intentions/abilities.
I doubt Nina is dead. Class 2 meta humans liked her have a secondary stage mutation that comes after either 1 of three things happen to them. 1) they spend a large amount of time in there natural element 2) are given a chemical that forces there body to go through the secondary stage mutation by force or 3) when they suffer extreme bodily trauma. Though depending on the way this second mutation is activated it could lead to the subject becoming more feral Examples are killer crock originally was just a normal dude with scales and now he’s 7 feet tall with tail and is more animalistic.
I've heard people say that it's more likely the Mummy recruit will play a hand since his bandages have healing properties and helped her in the comics.
Whose brilliant idea was it to put some normal-ass teenage girl with zero training, combat experience, or superpowers outside of breathing underwater, on a black ops hit squad? Between her and weasle I feel like Waller just likes torturing furries.
People were saying they didn’t like how it was rushed but I thought it was a great ending, sure maybe they could’ve stretched a few things but they completed their mission as they intended in the first place. Great start to the dcu imo
One thing that I was thinking about when it comes to cops in this universe...I mean, when things like the Joker exist cops must be hella trigger happy. Like, every day its some new monster messing up the city. OBVIOUSLY they're in the wrong, but still.
12:42 Dr phosphorus has been like that for 15 years and depending on how long it took for him to take over Rupert thornes business he must’ve gotten arrested when Batman had just started off meaning Dcu Batman has been active for at least more than 10 years
As funny as he is, I don't know why Eric Frankenstein is in this season. He doesn't add anything and learns nothing by the end of it. The one thing he could have done is tell the Bride about Clayface, and he didn't even get to do that she just shot him. Nina also did a lot of nothing in this season, but she at least got to interact with characters that matter and help develop them (like Bride & G.I.).
Nina was there to show that the creatures were not all monsters on the inside. That the people were the real monsters all along. Waller also said that she was there to be the voice of reason in the group.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who thought Nina was a baddie. Imagine doing re-enactments of The Shape of Water scenes with her. Is that weird to say?
Does James Gunn need a hug? Because he just killed the best member of the team in Nina after we finally saw her painfully tragic origin story! But seeing G.I. Robot back gives me hope that maybe James can bring back Nina. She’s too good to be killed off by a psychopathic princess.
Something I just thought about... which Clayface was in this series? Because I looked it up, and there's multiple versions of the character over the years of his inception. Basil Karlo, Matt Hagen, Preston Payne, etc. So I'm wondering if this Clayface did in fact die, is there going to be another to take up the moniker for the upcoming movie?
@NegaiFreak most likely clay face is unconscious and not dead. He has a movie coming out soon that DC is filming. Will probably be dealt with by Amanda waller
I’m not sure why Nina was on the team, in universe, but I think the reason she was here, writing wise, was to show that just because someone looks like a monster doesn’t mean they’re actually a monster. Like even weasel, while innocent, will tear through a MF. Nina, on the other hand, is basically a sweet innocent girl, who would never hurt a fly, who just looks like a monster on the outside. We all keep saying that she she’s useless and she shouldn’t be here but I think that’s the point. Yeah she shouldn’t be here, but unfortunately she is. Plus her death affects Brides character so that’s also a plus. Nina was the first person Bride cared about since Victor was killed all those years ago and Bride sent her to her death.
Waller hoped she would bring reason. She said as much. Also Waller doesn't respect life. Least of all prisoners and monsters. If Nina dies its not a big loss. Also Nina could have been useful.
Society is treating Nina like this for being an underwater sea dwelling creature. This must mean that people don’t know about Atlantis or Aquaman in the universe yet much like they don’t know about wonder woman who is not exposed to himself to the rest of the world. James Gunn did say that only a few things are canon and not everything else so Batman exist in this world because we saw him with phosphorus they know about Superman, but they don’t know about other major heroes in the justice league yet. I think this is because James has green lit movies that are pushing story rather than in over our King universe. If it’s a good script, he wants it to be me. He’s great at taking very little known characters that no one knows about and making them very popular just like he did with the guardians of the galaxy.
I honestly didn’t like the decision to fridge Nina, but the rest of the show was so damn strong that it’s still one of the best new cape shows in years. Can’t WAIT for season 2.
looking forward to more seasons!

Also that device Nina’s dad invented to help her breathe is still an amazing invention that can help hundred of thousands of people around the world. Spread the device’s blue prints around and eventually someone will come up with a more suffocated and efficient design.
Nina's death was incredibly sad. She was a victim of the justice system , just like Weasel.
Also, it's wild how incredibly caked up the women in this show are. Hats off to Gunn and his animators!
That Egyptian character at the end of the episode revives Nina in a comic so she might come back in season two
i love how in the suicide squad blood sport literally got his crew a get out of jail free card with a bribe, but somehow king shark fucked it up and ended back in jail (probably or probably not what happened who knows)
Nina got dem fish cakes 🍥 🍥
had dem fish cakes*
Incredible video! The humility in your humor is just what we need.
The princess was just a puppet. Gorilla Grodd was in Circe's vision for a reason. He's definitely going to be a problem in Season 2.
Again with the cops! 🤯 they couldn't at least tackle Nina father, the dude was like 4 feet away 😭
The cops in this show are cartoonishly bad at their job in order to progress the plot
What I’m saying fr. They got a whole taser just sitting there, then they could’ve tacked him. But he went straight for the gun. The cops in this show is the definition of incompetence.
@@t.j.1584 Exactly
It's not like there aren't cops in real life that don't do the same. lol Just watch the news. Fear is a dangerous thing.
Cops will dump mag because an acorn fell on their cruiser, I would say that was pretty accurate.
Superman will stand by his ideals and show everyone’s potential for Good without turning back on them.
a very funny monster is what Ilana said to the Bride when she acussed her of being who Circe said she really was
Roshi: "is clayface dead?"
I don't think so. I think that he may be unconscious.
Yeah I'm thinking he's unconscious too
For days lol? Or was it just hours
He's not. He's playing dead because the plan was to have him found out. That is how the hit on the princess was called off. Because they saw him there.
15:14 not nice don't rub it in 😭
Ain't that the same cop that caused the little girl to die in Weasel's backstory too? Damn, we really could've gotten a King Shark and Nina duo.
RIP NINA 😭
@@Saavamusic Nah, she will return. The actress who voices her said that she's exited to play her in live action.
Nina was literally only arrested off her apperance
Which is wild considering this is the same universe where Atlantis and Aquaman exists
It's great to see GI back and better than ever if only Nina was around to see it.
If there was one positive we can all agree on, we got GI Robot back
It's awesome to see G.I Robot back and better than ever. Bro got buffed up.
If G.I. Robot was already one of the most OP androids in the DCU in his old body, I’m thinking that this new body might as well be a Gundam!
That was the whole point of Nina. She wasn't going to do anything crazy she was kind and wasn't really a monster despite her yammed up appearance
•Rick Flag Sr’s Son death in Corto Maltese 2 Yrs ago
•Eric Frankenstein’s Father/Creator
•The Kids at the school
•The Old Woman tending to Eric Frankenstein
•Phosphorus’s Wife and Son
•Aleksei (he was fun, right?)
•Dr. Mazursky…..&….
- sigh - ….& Nina.
The Good people in this show shape the morally grey characters into who they all become, for better or worse….
Lore accurate cop😂
Not gonna front when I saw Nina with that fish all I could think of was gollum from lord of the rings.
i knew that looked familiar lol
The Bride MVP 🎉
I'm starting to believe those police officers are trained to fire than to actually save people ngl
Also Nina deserved better
You mean like most real-life police officers?
You just described real-life cops
Why are people acting like this isn’t an accurate portrayal of police?
I mean pushing a cop is felony. 🤷🏾♂️ 9:37
Vindication! Also wasn’t sure why people were calling out the Clayface thing as if it made sense to _fake_ the vision being legitimate.
I think the point of Nina’s character is also to show that some people just have a tragic life no matter how kind hearted or innocent they are 😢
I doubt Nina is dead. Though depending on the way this second mutation is activated it could lead to the subject becoming more feral
Examples are killer crock originally was just a normal dude with scales and now he’s 7 feet tall with tail and is more animalistic.
I've heard people say that it's more likely the Mummy recruit will play a hand since his bandages have healing properties and helped her in the comics.
@
There are ways of bringing her back
Idk bro, this is copium. Her story is done, what more could they tell.
@@JojoTheVulture
I don’t I haven’t read the comic so I’m assuming a lot
This show is so good can’t wait to see them in live action
Whose brilliant idea was it to put some normal-ass teenage girl with zero training, combat experience, or superpowers outside of breathing underwater, on a black ops hit squad? Between her and weasle I feel like Waller just likes torturing furries.
People were saying they didn’t like how it was rushed but I thought it was a great ending, sure maybe they could’ve stretched a few things but they completed their mission as they intended in the first place. Great start to the dcu imo
Gives a whole new meaning to the term "Fish Cakes"
7:23 The Shape of Water 2
Aye cast me bro I'll take one for the team
Surprised no one made the Fish Cakes Joke. Also it was a Funny monster because that's what the Princess said.
justice for nina
Darn it James Gunn stop making me feel
Glad to know I’m not the only one who thought Nina was a baddie. Imagine doing re-enactments of The Shape of Water scenes with her. Is that weird to say?
Does James Gunn need a hug? Because he just killed the best member of the team in Nina after we finally saw her painfully tragic origin story! But seeing G.I. Robot back gives me hope that maybe James can bring back Nina. She’s too good to be killed off by a psychopathic princess.
I knew James was going to make Nina into a Red Herring...Oh God
3:07 obviously they can they said Superman and Batman in marvel movies so 🤷🏾♂️🤣🤣
Yam up, thick ass fish lmfao. Here me out she was born a human 🤣🤣🤣
The cake was a LIE!
I can’t wait for season 2 we got the og creature commandos!
Clay face was playing dead. His job was being found.
why Nina so caked 😭
those high school bullies could've had some shape of water situation if they weren't such a-holes.
@@vinsanity40k On the plus side they didn't try anyway.
Can't talk about aquaman messing with Fish 😂😂
Something I just thought about... which Clayface was in this series? Because I looked it up, and there's multiple versions of the character over the years of his inception. Basil Karlo, Matt Hagen, Preston Payne, etc. So I'm wondering if this Clayface did in fact die, is there going to be another to take up the moniker for the upcoming movie?
@NegaiFreak most likely clay face is unconscious and not dead. He has a movie coming out soon that DC is filming. Will probably be dealt with by Amanda waller
He was playing dead. Think about it. His job was to be found.
Please don't blame Weasel, he's innocent, I feel so sorry for him. 🥺😅
I just had a thought, was Nina only on the team to make up for Weasel not being able to swim?
That fish got a lot of proteins 😂😂
All of their backstories are sad bro😭 the writer's absolutely cooked🙏 I love this series
This whole season felt so pointless though like nothing happened
Bride should’ve told Phosphorous to stand on Eric’s head
Nice video guys, also daily reminder that link click season 3 is out ❤
Man, Ice Cube said it best F. The Police.
Yea its definitely easy to separate things like the suicide squad from everything else. How long was Nina locked up anyway?
I honestly didn’t like the decision to fridge Nina, but the rest of the show was so damn strong that it’s still one of the best new cape shows in years. Can’t WAIT for season 2.
Nina death was freaking sad, man. She still had so much potential.
