- Like a Dragon Gaiden the Man Who Erased His Name
In Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, players control Kazuma Kiryu as they explore the Sotenbori district of Osaka and Isezaki Ijincho district of Yokohama. A third location, known as the Castle, is a hub area where players can participate in side activities. Minigames such as karaoke, Pocket Circuit racing, cabaret club, and fighting arena also return. A new character named Akame acts as an informant, providing Kiryu with sub-missions.

I’ve been watching your videos for almost 8 years. You’ve just hit a million this year and you’re already at 1.13M. I am happy the algorithm is in your favor. You’ve definitely earned it. Thank you for all the great content. I wish you the best!
Let’s enjoy Kiryu’s character while we still can.
Agreed man. Agreed
We've been saying that since Yakuza 2 lmao
@@sandwichboy1268 I am almost completely sure they are getting over with him in 8
@@shlokwaghela9560nope
ever since they lost Takeshi for Judgement. they're going with Kiryu now
so expect more Kiryu
@@badfoody Nah, I am betting here he's gonna be offed in YLaD8, I am not enthused mind you, it's just obvious Yokoyama is sick of him
"If bravery had a spirit animal, it would probably be Kiryu." Excellent line. I applaud the writing.
You know what, you choice dressing Kir-Joryu with a beanie hat surprisingly look cool on him lol
Also really appreciate how you mention the game length. For me 20 hours is a good time, especially next year Infinite Wealth seems to have a long main story.
Anyway, this review is really good! Honestly can't wait for this
Thanks hope you enjoy it!
Like a Dragon / Yakuza games never disappoint, always a fun, cool, great experience
Couldn't agree more!
Judgement too!
Can't wait to get my hands on this! Getting 3 yakuza games within a year in America is so great!
Theres this one, infinite wealth, and whats the third one??
@@kriskater Ishin from earlier in the year
Many years ago I learned about a game that had somehow passed me by. I looked it up and found a video you had done on it. I watched that video and it convinced me to play the game. That game was Dragon's Dogma. It became one of my favorite games of all time. And you became one of my favorite reviewers. My only real go to since then. Thank you for Dragon's Dogma and for all of your great reviews over the years. You're the best.
What a damned game
@@ACGreviews Tomorrow(28/11) is the special Dragon's Dogma 2 stream, just a reminder from a hardcore fan.
0:13 it’s not a yakuza game without that classic traffic cone attack
It isnt man. It would feel like a knockoff walmart softdrink rebrand
Honestly,I'm glad they made this to give a balance to the original style while not disrupting the new style and story. I'm sure they're planning to do more with Kiryu, but I guess we'll have to see how Infinite Wealth deals with him.
According to Yokoyama it took them only 6 months to make this game, as it is the same team that does Infinite Wealth, and I guess it was just part of the development of the game. They where first thinking about making a DLC, or a 30 minute interlude in the game, until they thought it was more interested as it own seperate full game.
Just goes to show how asset reuse is incredibly powerful and definitely not lazy if it's used correctly.
@@PlaidSuitPinstripeWorld Yeah, reusing assets isn't inherently bad. You can still make a good game out of old parts. Hate how people automatically call devs lazy for reusing assets even though the game itself is still very good if done correctly ofc.
I'm hoping that this game is an excuse to give Kiryu a brawler fighting style in the second half of Infinite Wealth. Maybe they'll try to mimic God of War 2018 when Krato's got his blades back, but it's Kiryu's old suit.
Personally, I'm more looking forward to Infinite Wealth but this is bound to be great within the traditional formula.
It looks nuts right?
I'm way more excited for Infinite as well but I think this will still be a great game in the interim.
@@javiermontiero4982 Yes, and it definitely helps that this is on Game Pass, 50 bucks is a bit stiff for a game in a series that's usually 10-20 hours more of main story lines! I was a bit skeptical, but now I'm looking forward to this one before Infinite Wealth hits.
meh I played like a dragon, turn based is not for me, uninstalled immediately after the first fight. I won't be getting infinite wealth either.
I didn’t realize it was coming out so soon. My favorite series that no one believes is awesome but if you know you know.
Definitely going to play this on gamepass. I generally buy all RGG games, but this year has been extra expensive as a gamer who likes it all. Thank you for the great reviews!
It would help the channel huge if you spread the word, comment here with what you think, what you are playing, or looking forward to, sharing it, tweet, subscribe all that.
Like a Dragon Gaiden the Man Who Erased his Name is the longest name but one of the shorter games in the series. It will be hard to forget a chararacter who wants to be lost, but man its an enjoyable time returning to a world that's batshit insane and at times a reminder of how old the games are getting.
www.patreon.com/AngryCentaurGaming
Does it run on 60 FPS on PS5?
It's insane that all of these games are made by one team. In less than three months Infinite Wealth is out. At one point they were recording dialogue for the Like A Dragon remake, the 8th game and this at the same time. They got confused what game they were recording dialogue for.
I glad it feels more than just a prologue for the 8th game.
Will do
@@ghosface353 RGG releases an insane amount of quality games on a consistent basis, even more than Insomniac. Just over the last three years, they released Yakuza Like a Dragon (2020), Lost Judgment (2021), Like a Dragon Ishin! (2023), Like a Dragon Gaiden (2023), and just three months later Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth (2024). That's five games over the course of three years, give or take. No other AAA studio has released that many good games in such a short timeframe, yet RGG doesn't get enough recognition for that.
Please review Robocop, it's amazing.
Thank you so much for this review! Looking forward to playing Like A Dragon Gaiden on game pass.
YOu bet!
I own every Yakuza game so I'll be buying this even though it's coming to gamepass. I love this series so much and I can't wait to play Gaiden and Infinite wealth! Your reviews are some of the best and I always look for your stuff when embargos lift thank you.
Shame there's no box for the shelf though. I would normally play these on Playstation, but with the lack of disc copy, I might as well play it on Gamepass and buy Infinite Wealth.
@@carpetfluff35they have a physical version in Asia. I ordered one from the play-asia website.
Best reviewer out there. Keep up the good work. There's a sense of comfort to see that a new video is avaliable to watch 👏👏👏
Wow, thanks!
Man, I've only played Yakuza 0 so far (which I had a blast with), looks like I've still got tons of fun to experience with this series.
You sure do, but don't expect it to get as good or better than Zero for the most part, but that's just my opinion.
Yep just be careful with burnout if you plan on playing multiple Yakuza titles in a short timeframe.
0 is as good as it gets
I knew this was going to be great and it seems I was not wrong. This is the essence of Like A Dragon to me, this is where the series is at it's best to me. The turn based combat never made sense to me in a series that is so much more realistic than your average JRPG
Absolutely. I cherish the realistic times I had, seeing golden castles come out of the ground and doing very realistic things like KO-ing tigers.
Jk totally agree
@@dinsdag6juli2010 I man, KO-in tigers is perfectly realistic. KO-ing grizly bears on the other hand...But you get what I mean when I said realistic right? In a street brawl your opponent isn't going to wait for you to make a move and flashy moves will get you killed
Great review! I love this game series from its highs to its lows and all the quirks in between. I love Ichiban and like the new path they're taking with LaD but it's nice to have another run with Kiryu.
Got into the yakuza series last year and played all the way through to Lost Judgement and loved them. Will be fun to play as Kiryu once again, a very nice xbox game pass addition too
I wanna get into them but no idea where to start....XSS with GamePass, should I start with Yakuza 0?
@@Manuel-rl6um yes
@@InsaneMagee thanks
I'm all for it. Still can't get my head around mahjong though, even after playing the yakuza series for the last 18 years.😁
Mahjong's has gotten easier to learn because they finally have the number pieces with typical numeration at the top left or right of the tiles
I learned it through yt tutorials. Yakuza has always been bad at explaining things and it's a really hard game to learn.
Man! Your descriptions are always great, but with this game they just fit so well.
Bravery's spirit animal was just a cherry on top.
So many great games this year. I've been keeping an eye on this one and I'm very happy is getting good reviews. This one is going to be delicious!
10:00 I had to laugh here because that's exactly how Kir-uh, "Joryu" is. Throughout every single game, he's that guy who seems reluctant to do anything but when coaxed, does it with so much effort and determination that he knocks whatever he's doing out of the park. He's the epitome of "If you're gonna do it, do it right".
Anyways this looks awesome. Gonna be a definite buy from me. I just completed all of the Yakuza games starring Kiryu, (half way through Like a Dragon; will definitely be done with that before Infinite Wealth comes along to continue Ichiban's story) so this came pretty much just in time.
Thanks for your work man, still the best reviewer on youtube by far.
Ichiban is cool, but we have been playing as Kiryu for 18 years, he will never be matched or replaced.
Awesome Review as always!
Your Yakuza 0 review got me into the series and you have even inspired me to create my own content on UA-cam.
Thank you for the endless entertainment !
Woooooo UA-cam actually notified me!!!
LETS GOOOOO
This game is a love letter to kiryu and the history of like a dragon. Such a fun, and relatively "short" story with all the greatest hits of story beats and minigames being remixed for an in-between game.
Appreciate kiryu before he's gone
YongYea is the voice actor for Kiryu in this.
Is this role-play one or it is a brawler like before? I was the biggest Yakuza fan, but fell out with Like a Dragon, the role-play really could not catch me in this game. It made insanely long game even longer.
Brawler
Looking forward to this one, time for a gamepass sub, jumping back and forth between this and robocop should be fun.
As long as RGG keeps putting out Yakuza games, I’ll keep buying them. Great review as always, ACG. Looking forward to picking up both this and Infinite Wealth. I have to say you especially nailed the bit about the design of the city and how it feels, how there are small areas that you may not be able to get into but you can see or feel like there are people all around. They’ve done an excellent job with this in every installment of this series.
Karak is my favorite reviewer. Quality content always
Thank you
I know it might sound stupid but I really miss Japan and these games make me feel like I'm back there so I can't wait to play even just seeing the food outside restaurants is awesome and so true to Japan.
Man I love your Yakuza and Judgment reviews,
Looks like this is another solid entry
I love to see Kiryu and the brawler combat return!
Very excited for Yakuza: Gaiden 🔥
i love the basketball comparison lmfao
kiryu would absolutely cook on a court
9:57 was a great way of capturing the essence of what makes RGG games so enjoyable. A subtle hint that we should all take time to enjoy the beauty thats readily around us ❤
It really is about fun
RYUJI IS BACK WHAT THE HELL
Can’t wait to get my night club to perfection! This version looks insane, and it’s a treat until 8 comes out!
I can't believe you said "Call in the drones' so casually outside of Call of Duty. That took me back a bit when I heard that lol
So excited for this. Judgement 2 was a bit of a let down, so I’m excited for a good experience in the Yakuza world again.
Thanks for the review, made my day! I've come to adore the Yakuza games, their worlds are so immersive, their side missions so weird, yet the characters so relatable, and the Japanese dub is what makes it all come together for me imo
I am a fan and i WILL be seated for this!! I love this series so much
Aaah Yakuza games.. there is so much to like but somehow I never succeeded to enjoy them.
It's frustrating in a way, but at least I can enjoy this review, thanks ACG.
You bet!
Loved Like A Dragon, the one like 2 games ago! Oh yeah, theres another Yakuza dropping later too! Awesome! Thanks guys & gals!❤
very curious to play this and find out how Yong Yea does as a voice actor luckily already a series i own and play
The ending of this game tore me. I was crying.
I have visited the locations that the game has been based on in Japan and they were amazing.
I had no idea this was a thing. I am currently downloading it on my Series X. I have played every single game that has released here in the US and I can't wait to get into it. The movement in this game is freaking unreal.
Addendum- Kiryu with a soul patch?! No, I reject that premise. The only soul path Kiryu has is from the blood of his enemies. ;)
Never played one of these games, but man, they really do a good job presenting Japan visually. Felt like I had been in some of those places. I'll check this out on gamepass.
10/10 Sewer Shark reference
Truly appreciate that they allowed us to explore in 1st person. It makes looking for collectibles much easier too
I'm going miss kiryu when he's gone 😢 but we have him now 🎉
Awesome job bro as always! One of my favorite gaming reviews of all time for sure :)
Yo! Did I see Kiryu fighting Kaito? He was labeled “mysterious man”, but I could have sworn that was him.
Im looking forward to this one, such a bummer there are no english dub in release, i love that is on gamepass but i wish it wasn't so i would just wait, but being on gamepass it makes it so acessible that i will probably just play it.
I'm just waiting on my English cover physical from VGP. Currently playing Yakuza 7. So hopefully finish that and Gaiden before IW.
The Yakuza 7 Management game is so addicting
I've been really excited to play this game ever since I first heard about it. It's not officially a Yakuza game, but it's close enough. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are always consistent with their releases and Like A Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name follows the same trend. It presents the same level of enjoyable and over the top combat and silliness that's present in the Yakuza franchise, which is perfectly fine with me. Kazuma Kiryu is back, albeit under a different name. However, unfortunately, the game is only available digitally in North America, which means that I'll have to buy it from PlayAsia in order to get a physical copy. Thanks, Karak! As always, I appreciate the honest, unbiased, and detailed review! God bless and stay safe!
Although it's shorter than Infinite Wealth, the first Yakuza game I ever played was Yakuza Kiwami. so I feel like I should pay due diligence and get the man who erased his name rather than Infinite wealth. Also, I do like Kiryu's character more than the protagonist in Like a Dragon.
The perfect tone shift we all need after enduring all that Alan Wake 2 anxiety.
Kiryu is probably one of the best male protagonist of all time.
I just wanted to say thanks to Karak and ACG! I'm sorry I don't subscribe, but I am not a 'hardcore gamer', nor do I do social media. I am disabled and use gaming as a pain distraction. Also due to young kids I rarely buy games, but when I am interested in a game this is the FIRST place I come to! I am a good gamer when I play, but it's not my life. Just thought I'd say thanks and we'll done, as I commented on another video (below) with regards to yourselves. best wishes, Rob.
I gotta' admit my favourite game reviewer, which address just what I need, and with lots of data is ACG. He's consise, accurate and ultimately sways me on whether I am buying a game or not. Even if he likes a game and and I don't, he has given me enough Gameplay and insight that that game may not be for me. That's because he reviews with honesty, articulation and depth! Get over to ACG!
Can’t Wait for the 8th
I love these games, and this channel!!
At 4:04 for a moment I thought "wow, the graphics look absolutely real" 😉
Been a fan of the Yakuza/like a dragon series since the ps2 one came out. Im so glad the series has been getting alot of love recently
I feel like I'm gonna love this one the fact that there letting us play as other characters in areana
Turn based or action beat em up, you pick up a yakuza game, you're gonna have a good time
3:54 I'm so angry that so many games require you to play with only one hand. Why they don't make a one hand controller??
Alright, I was able to enjoy part 7, but the turn based stuff just isn't as engaging as the best beat 'em up around.
Though I do kind of wish they'd let Kiryu rest, rather than Goku him, I liked his involvement in 7, knowing he couldn't get too involved. But...I'll takes it.
For obvious reasons the visual style reminds me of Ghostwire Tokyo .. which in my book is am absolutely bonkers looking game.. for my taste its even better than Cyberpunk (Ghostwire that is) But because i loved the japanese setting so much i am certainly curious about this one.
man those heat moves look satisfying as fuck
0:30 "Rabbit punch someone in the kidneys"
Kidneys are stored in the back of the head?
Need to play the other games in series ? If so how many is there an how far should I go back? This looks like a lot of fun. Great review as always.
I don't have MONEY or TIME but there is another Yakuza game
it's not Yakuza anymore, it's Like a Dragon
I've never heard Kiryu's English voice and at this moment I don't think I ever want to.
It's Yongyea and I don't have anything against the guy but I doubt he'll have a remotely comparable performance to Kiryu's Japanese voice actor who is a professional with years and years of experience.
Awesome review! Super excited for infinite wealth
Forgot this was coming out this week. Always in for Yakuza. Hope it’s better than Ishin. That one left a bad taste.
Ishin wasn't too bad. Lost Judgment on the other hand just didnt do it for me.
@@Jonkin715 I gotta retry that series because I played it before Yakuza. But Ishin is my least favorite Yakuza entry. It’s passable but lacked the series humor and charm to me.
Ikr... played ishin last week, so boring...
@@Jonkin715 Lost judgment that got me into yakuza, i liked it a lot, still have to play judgment tho
Narratively I liked Ishin, I managed to finished the main story. Though the combat that made me dread playing the game.
The styles are heavily unbalanced in terms of speed and damage, and there's no reason not to spam gun and sword.
I dont know what it is, but these environments look so gamey and empty to me. The scale seems weird. I think Alan wake 2 maybe ruined me for game environments but it’s weird to not see any litter, dirt, dust etc. the levels are blocked off in unnatural ways. This seems like an a game from 7 years ago.
This is why I love this series...in my opinion the only series that gets open world games right.
The live action cabaret stuff kind of…creeps me out.
Looks great! Can't wait to play it!i'm definitely ready for a new Yakuza/Like a Dragon game since I skipped Ishin. A mix of slight burn out and it just not really appeaing to me. This'll be be so much fun!
No I get that actually
3:01 Never thought Ryuji had a brother, Kenji Goda
Thanks for the review, I'm glad you still can roam the streets in the game. Earlier trailers and reviews made it look like some odd hub game with all the activities cramped in a very small area (like the tanker). Looking forward to the steam version tomorrow.
I'm still not done with Alan Wake 2 but it'll have to take a breather for this masterpiece. I can't wait two more days!
I live in Japan and they do such a good job a realising Japanese streets.
ya·ku·za NOT "YA KA ZA" Still Best reviewer hands down!
What happened to the crazy in-depth, 20-30 minute breakdowns? That’s what I used to love about your reviews.
Wrong channel sadly. Almost none of mine are 30 and very rarely 20. Probably thinking of a lets play or analysis channel sorry. I only do reviews as long as I need to explain what I want about a game.
@@ACGreviews Right channel, but me misremembering a bit, lol. Went back through your videos and it was a lot of 18-20 minute goodness. I enjoy your breakdowns tremendously so the longer the better for me!

Great review, I'm totally getting this game as I love the series
I've never played a Yakuza game, but they remind me of Shenmue on the Dreamcast. The best game I'd ever experienced at that time. I'm looking forward to playing this but don't know what version to buy as I prefer PC and a lot of those ports are busted. Enjoyed the review and decided to buy because of it.
All the ports on PC are great, I replayed all of them a year or so ago. Judgement + Lost Judgement are also fantastic games as well.
GOTY in my book!!! 🥳😎🤗 I also feel that full, true immersion is obtained by playing in Japanese, with the sub titles (at least for a few years, until the amazing language is learned). 😇
One of the best games i've played this year on Game Pass. But to have fun with this game you gotta be familiar with the story and lore which is very complex with many characters. It's a love letter to Yakuza fans like me but it'lll be hard for players with no idea of Yakuza series to get into the game. I even had some trouble at the end section as i've completely skipped the first Like A Dragon Game as it was kinda turn based interrupted fighting mechanics. But this game nailed the combat mechanics.
This is a must play for me for sure
Gang Gang!!
I’m loving it! Gonna finally play zero after I finish this. I’ve played all of them but that!!
"This is weird!'' yup, thats yakuza alright
This snuck up on me honestly, been playing alot of Battlefield 😮💨 Seems great! Cannot wait for Infinite Wealth tho
I'll play this and probably enjoy it. I recently bailed on Ishin after 10 hours. I just didn't enjoy the combat and world of Ishin like I have in their other titles.
