You learn real quick here that the NZ sun hits different. Because the Ozone layer is thinner down here, and less pollution in the air, the sun hits hard. Even on cloudy days, you can get sun burnt. Its very harsh, so do slip, slop, slap ( thats from an old NZ ad reminding people to slip on the clothing, slop on the sun screen, and slap on a hat ).
I used to work in aviation and the rule for NZ compared to other similar nations is add +5C to whatever the temp is for the accurate humidity, sun factor and feel. I.e. if it’s 25 it’s actually 30. A 35C day is actually 40, so you have to be so careful with how long you’re in the sun. 20 mins in and 20 mins out without sunscreen is the rule and let’s face it sunscreen is terrible for you
@@RiddimKingdomI do that here in Perth, always add 2 or 3 degrees to the reported temps, they are always wrong. I was back home in Auckland for Christmas, took some getting used to it.
While you're in Wanaka you gotta do the Roy's Peak and Isthmus Peak hikes, such an awesome view over the lakes! Rob Roy glacier is lovely too, a much shorter walk but a bit of a drive to get to
Hey, just a question. Can you park up at any parking spots to cook your lunch or do you have to find a proper campsite in order to do that legally? Thanks!
Those bogus temperature reports are not to be believed. The official temp. is taken in a shaded box or something. It' not a true temp. They've been telling me my city "...reached a high of 26 today..." yet I'm looking at my digital weather station that's telling me it's 55 in the direct sunlight and 28.5 in my lounge!
Its not bogus its just that point is to measure the air temperature. Air doesn't heat up from the sun's radiation as much as your skin, or the metal / plastic housing on your weather station will etc so it will always read lower.
@@JimmyKip It is bogus because they're not telling you what you're actually feeling. You're feeling the temperature from the direct sunlight, not the air. That's the temp they should be telling you.
Nick is a professional downhill skateboarder and has skated many roads all over the world with his team. Most are not legal. I’m not suggesting other people try, but I will say there’s not much you can do to stop him lol.
@@nickandraychel so you guys go around the world breaking the law im not a expert but I would think it being a health and safety issue that it would be against law to skate down any roads on the road in New zealand i might be wrong
Can you please promise TO NEVER SKATE DOWN Our ROADS EVER..don't encourage anyone to join you to do so, it's not DOABLE AT ALL!!!! Just stop, It's not funi not smart and really disrespectful, enjoy our country and keep us all safe we have way too many deaths and accidents from tourists here already.
drive right side of the road, 😎 don't dump rubbish.. and always, always blow on the pie.. 🙃the rest.. enjoooy.. skate that road brother..🤘🤘@@nickandraychel
@@chrisallison9526literally not even remotely funny. And just so boring too. You do t think as vegans we don’t hear this daily. We do it for the animals, not for any other reason, so stop.

So true! We reapply SPF 50 all day and still got sunburnt. But clearly someone missed a spot - I feel like we could see the finger print there 😅
Yup, NZ 25C in full sun is like 30+ in 'straya, or across the Pacific Islands; turns out the Ozone is kinda handy.

After these Guys have completed their 2 year adventure, it will be interesting to hear which Island they preferred.

When you heading North… wanna experience some sun rays.
We’re doing an entire year on the South Island and then will spend an entire second year on the North Island
I toured the island under level 2. New Zealand was locked down from the rest of the world.
It was beautiful then. No damned tourists.
You wouldnt be aloud to skate down the road even if you wanted to
