Great video. Brought back memories from your earlier videos. I have been in a slump and not brewing, but I am brewing tomorrow. Don't have the ice to chill, but that's never stopped me before.
I have an Inkbird and its a lifesaver, I only use for controlling temp when fermenting and I tape it to the side of the fermenter and use a sponge over to get the accurate reading. If you use a big fermenter with a Thermowell just stick the probe in there (dont forget the lube). Enjoy good beer.
Inkbirds are a must. I have the older version (no WiFi) connected to my Keezer for probably 6 or 7years now. Another of similar aged one that I used on my fermentation fridge failed about a year ago which gave me the opportunity to buy 2 new ITC-308s for my 2 fermentation fridges. Cool connection goes to the fridge and I have a heat pad lying in the bottom of the fridge connected to the heat side. +0.3 & -0.3 and happy days with constant fermentation temps regardless of the season. I travel for work and with the WiFi I can adjust the fermentation fridge temp setting to 1 Deg C to start the cold crash process whilst I am in another state so the morning after I get home cold crash has run for a few days and I can keg immediately. So many other advantages. If you don't have one (or 3 like me) grab them now you won't regret it.
I also add a "Lasko My Heat" personal heater when I am using my Inkbird in my fermentation chamber. It's small, but will heat the chamber pretty quickly. That way it keeps the fermenter at 68 degrees, or whatever other temp you set it to. It can heat if it gets too cold, and it's also good for doing kettle sours, when you need to keep the wort at 95 degrees for 24 hours+ while the beer sours. The Inkbird will throttle between the cold and hot points to keep the beer at whatever temp you set it for. An amazing addition to any homebrew/professional setup for cheap!
Get the app for the phone. You can use the app to monitor the temp over time. Useful when fermenting with it as a monitor You can set all of the settings via the app and get alerts if the temp goes too high or low. I set the alarm for 30 and 50. That way it will go nuts when the wife accidentally turns off the power strip while cleaning. I also recently strapped it to a fermenting keg. Wrapped it with one of the heater blankets and set it to 90 for a kviek yeast. Worked well.
Yeah it's a must, I just got one from the flea market brand new for 2 bucks, I had one from diff brand to be able to connect 2 freezers one for kegs and the other for fermentation, but doesn't have wifi
Love my Inkbird. I live in the great white north, and my brewing set up is in the garage. It gets hot in there in the summer, and cold in there in the winter. I keep my fermenter in a cool old glass-door beverage fridge like you'd see in a convenience store. In the summer, i have the fridge plugged in to the "cooling" side, and in the winter I keep a little ceramic heater inside the fridge, and plug it into the "heating" side. I can maintain the perfect temperature in that fridge all year round no matter how hot or cold it gets in the garage - couldn't do it without the Inkbird.
Saw that killer price on Amazon a couple days ago and snagged my second one of these. Your older videos turned me onto these in the first place. Thanks for helping improve my beer, and spend my money.
Mine works great. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!!! For a total price of $49.95 you can get the InkBird 308 with WiFi. That right, you can control it with your smartphone and monitor it from around the world!
Couldn’t agree more on the Inkbird, have had mine for over two years and it is vital in the keezer. By the way, am I the only one who mixes a tap now and then? Say 1/2 a lemony wheat with 1/2 a hoppier wheat in a pint? Feels a bit wrong but hard to resist with multi taps.
I do that all the time. In fact just last night. Some of my wheat beer and about 1/4 hard cider. 😉 Another favorite is 1/2 and 1/2 my wheat beer and my summer ale.
Had one for about. 2 years now with a keezer and cannot complain. Buy this one and not the controller you have to hardwire (itc1000f). If you run a fermentation chamber off of this, the Wi-Fi one is the way to go. If you are doing temperature stages or diacetal tests, you don’t even have to put pants on to go out to your garage and change the temperature!
Great vid and love my inkbird, I would suggest to put the temp. probe, in glass of water or thermo well in your fermenting beer, so you get more accurate temp readings then just the ambient air temp in the chest freezer.
Great product. Use it in my keezer and used to use it in my fermenter until I went unitank and glycol :). This hobby gives you plenty to sink your $$ into, but the Inkbird makes that expensive gear a luxury instead of a necessity.
Funny this showed up on my feed. My brand new inkbird broke today. It’s registering 80 degrees higher than what the temp is and I have no idea how to fix it.
My temp controller is from Northern Brewer but I've been wanting an Inkbird for quite sometime. EDIT Of course this is probably just me being a victim of marketing lol I haven't had an issue with mine so far
I membber that smoked Bacon beer. Sucked. Of course according to you and that bacon syrup. Mmm😂❤. Love you and missed you brotha. Salud from Phoenix, AZ 🤘😈🍻🍺
Mine started malfunctioning after about 2 months of use. It would turn my COoler for my aquarium cooling it, but I can't find where to factory reset it since the calibration wouldn't work. The display says 105 degrees, but my aquarium temp actually says 73.
Yeah, that's what I do. Keep in mind though, some fridges have a defrost mode. For instance, my fridge would normally have a twice/24hr. period, where it turns off for 20min. if not connected to the Inkbird. So sometimes while the IB is calling for cool, the fridge won't come on til its defrost mode ends. Cheerz
I have the wifi version and the big downside is that inkbird does not provide an api to control it... so it's a pain in the ass to do automation with it
@@mittelfruh yes it works from the phone, but they don't have an open api to integrate it in an automated system (to automatically launch a ramp up temp after aspecific gravity has been reach, or a cold crash after the gravity does not move for a few days)

The Inkbird is that one product that everyone who really wants to get into brewing....NEEDS

Rex manning would be proud 🥹
Put the sensor into a beer bottle filled with water in the keezer. I evens out the temp. variations.
Great Vid!!! The two biggest areas of control when making great beer are water build and Temp Control. I have that exact model and it works great.
one of the best tools for brewing, great video CH ! cheers🍻
Must have! The Wi-Fi version is where it's at! I can cold crash now from anywhere! 🍻💯
love it braj i own two one for my keezer and one extra for my spare fridge when lagering
Great job! I always love your unique perspective on products. Keep up the great work!
Cheers my guy! 🍻
Quality video CH, If I didn't already have a ITC-308, I'd buy another one!

Yeah i wouldnt use glass tho. Plastic water bottle for the win!

Yes! I only wish I had a few of them! Love the vids man!
I've got 3, 2 in use 1 for back up 🤙
Damn it. Got me in trouble with wife. I needed to upgrade from the dial and if you say ink bird is the way then I trust you.
A must have!
I have my eye on the Oktoberfest beer doing its thing in the fridge with my Inkbird
Built my own with a W1209 12V thermostat module. Janky AF but just as effective and fraction of the price.
Your videos are amazing! If I were you I would use a highpass filter on you mic! Then your videos are even more then amazing dude! Keep it up! 😎😎😎😎
Can you send a link im not familiar 😬
Love the WiFi version 🍻
I love my InkBirds 🤩

Ooo. I just got one but it’s plugged into an extension lead. Is that why I can’t get my fridge to drop below 5.5 degrees C? Trying to cold crash.
🤘🍺 Braj!
Cheers Jaggers!
Does it matter what the fridge or freezer is set to? I would imagine set it on max if you are using the cool function.

is there really a qaulity difference bewtween this and some "amazon brand"?

Sooo we control the weather for yeast so they're happy. . .are we the yeast god? Like do the colonies of yeast praise us for fair conditions?
