    So time to get the cover on then the doors to finish, still some tidying up to be done in and around this area bu the tunnel is finished and I can get back to gardening once again.
    Thanks to JB for spurring me on to have a go on my own when I would have left this job even longer when help arrived. / @jbnat
    I have now taken the plunge and started up a Patreon space here / greensideup This gives a little more Green Side Up content to those who wish to help,support or give back to me. It will be slightly different to the content here on my channel in that it will be an informal style with a warts and all approach, its me, but from a different angle.
    If you are enjoying my content, you can help me by buying me a packet of seeds. ko-fi.com/greensideup

If you click one of these links and buy the same thing as me, you pay EXACTLY the same as me, but I earn a small commission from Amazon. Amazon pays this, not you! We are talking pennies here not pounds and I use it more as a shop window,so you can see the product. I always also advise you "shop around" first to find the best price you can.

    Great job. I’ve just put up a 8x5 wilko plastic shed ( can’t really call it a poly tunnel). Made a rite pigs ear of it. Looks like a dogs back leg at the end.

    Thanks, Steve - I got my 12’ wide x10’ long First Tunnel polytunnel a couple of weeks ago and am now putting 2 sliding door frames up. I hope to finish this week subject to rain. Pretty easy. what would help is for the 4 piece main hoop if they have alignment marks so can stay true. While instructions suggest finding yourself a nice dry flat garage to assemble, the reality is most plots will assemble on the grassy ground. Like you, I used the screw post, which was not a problem going in - just tough to keep them aligned. In the end, there is lots of tolerance and adjustment is done by loosening/tightening screws. I am planning to cover it myself. I will use wood clamps to hold the header in place.
    One thing on your tunnel, you might have a peek at the folds coming into the door jam. If you can remove any pockets that can collect water might keep the cover looking smart longer. (you should be able to unloosen your screws and gently post the plastic up.)
    I’m 67 years old so anyone can do it. Great packaging and instructions by First Tunnel.

    Good useful video Steve. About to put my order into first tunnel . Already have a frame up but I’m going to add the fittings for no dig tensioning sides. Crop rails. I’ve noticed in the past the posts that go into the ground tend to rot shame first tunnels don’t make a plastic addition to go into the ground. I’ve done that with my fencing at home.

    I did the second tightening of mine yesterday with the help of two bits of wood with 2 3 x 2 concrete slabs on them with me kneeling on them to tighten the bolts . It worked very well.

      If you meant pieces of timber at 90 degrees to the base rail and with their ends resting on top of the rail, that's what I did, with two 600x600x50mm precast concrete slabs plus a couple of bags of ballast on top.

  • @DigwellGreenfingers
    @DigwellGreenfingers Рік тому

    Strange how some companies supply black frames if the heat degrades the plastic cover - maybe it is so they can sell you a new cover in a few years! Not good
