Yep, as a lite owner, I can tell how more comfortable it is to play in handheld comparing to the usual switch. Ok u cant “switch” it (dock to a tv), but this is cheaper, soooo much lighter, easier and sturdier to hold, more pocketable. If nintendo release switch lite with OLED i’m definetely going to buy, as of now I’m really proud with my v1 sitting next to my tv and having the lite around my bag.
I’ve held both before and if I didn’t play on a tv 90% of the time I used my switch I would definitely rather have a the lite. I was actually going to get the lite until I saw the special edition ACNH Switch and now it almost never leaves the dock.

As happy as I am with my OLED, (and can't wait to play Brilliant Diamond) I think you're onto something with the ideal shape and body of the Lite with the amazing OLED screen.
After playing with my cousins switch OLED, a switch Lite with the OLED screen upgrade would have made way more sense. The switch light despite being smaller feels so much better for portable gaming. I hope one day we get a premium switch lightstyle version with OLED screen and video out.

Especially if they pushed the bezels to the edge, possibly making it the same screen size as the original switch or something. Although even on that screen I found hard to comfortably see things. The pandemic warped the usual price cuts the PS4 and One S should had gotten. $300 with the system and game....before the pandemic. And then everyone bought what was available when everything hit. And all available resources are now going to make the PS5 and Xbox Series systems. So for those who wait for a beefy library and cheaper model, the $200 Switch Lite is perfect. In 2021, if you have nothing and want to get a new system for a reasonable price, get the Switch Lite.
Totally with you. My first thoughts were, "Dang. This would be perfect if it had an OLED screen" but I still got one cuz it's sweet. Love the all black and the metallic finish. Actually picked this up over a switch OLED (already have a normal switch for TV play) since I play a ton handheld and the smaller, lighter system that's a unified body just feels so good in hand!

@@adamsharif9 spot on I believe that is how it's gonna go down. And they are gonna make more money if they space out the releases over a long time cause some people (like myself) might buy every single iteration.
Great video as always, Kevin! One thing to add as to why they made the Switch lite the Switch for the special edition, I think it’s just because they did that for the Nintendo DS lite, so it makes that they’d wanna make a throwback in every sense
Granted this specific Switch Lite was in production before Switch OLD was fully known too everyone and like mentioned it’s too represent that Pokemon is primarily a hand held game traditionally so it’s a given that there was going too be a Switch Lite. Also it hasn’t been that long yet since Switch OLD was release (though granted companies can release different models pretty early on in a consoles life spam but there’s no denying there’s some ethnicity that makes you feel odd that a different version of a console came out when the original hasn’t even been out that long yet. Well at least I think that is). So when you combine that and in this case it’s Pokemon we are talking about here, there would be some form of awkwardness. Still would’ve been cool too have a Pokemon Switch OLD but still awkward
I’m almost 100% positive there will be a Switch OLED pokemon edition at some point, unless they release a better model before then and decide to make a special edition for that instead. Pokemon had led the way for special edition systems for ages, so I’d be surprised for that to stop any time soon. the bigger question is what will that edition be of? Gen 8? another remake? Arceus Legends? last one seems kinda unlikely, but who knows?
well their demographic is basically low-powered family friendly games approach. Unlike PS and Xbox who are performance first for AAA games/ hardcore gamers

I love the dark gray and black look, it’s so sleek. The regular gray switch lite I have looks kind of cool, the white buttons and stick have a cool contrast. But I love the sleek black buttons and sticks on this model, I might get one for just that
I bought this DP switch lite as my travel switch, even though I fully intend on bringing my animal crossing switch everywhere I travel too. I just like having the smaller, portable version that's easier to take in and out of my backpack on flights rather than the bulky deluxe case I have for my regular switch that carries my dock and games as well. I do agree with wanting an OLED display on this specific model because it would've made it that much better, even if the price went up maybe $50. My one complaint is that the back etchings seem like they will get scratched easily and rub off over time, so I bought a clear plastic case to solve that problem. The front buttons aren't as comfortable this way, but I'm owning this switch lite simply for the portable nostalgia factor anyway.
I got this model, it's amazing. What I wish for though is, Switch Lite with Oled + docking capabilities and both analogs at the top. Perfection. I don't really care about detachable controllers.

Also, the light works better for kids, who are more likely to throw it around, and Oled will break a lot easier than plastic!

Maybe good suggestion Kevin, but I kind of think the reason Nintendo keeps doing these special releases is to keep interest going in the lite systems - purely marketing. The OLED sells on its own, and it doesn’t need any help at all.
I've never owned a switch and a Nintendo product since I was a kid, but this switch makes me want to change that. Dialga and Palkia are my favorite legendary pokemon, so I love that they are on the back. The upcoming d&p remakes and Arceus game are also another reason.

@@James-tv3gy it would not make the regular switch obsolete. It’s still has a bigger screen and it still had changeable joycons. If you really think about it. The oled switch makes the regular one obsolete.
I stayed up till midnight yesterday to order this! I think it’s so cool and I love 4th gen also. Delivery is expected tomorrow! Super excited
That's quick lol
I like that its a lite, the DS this was based off WAS a DS LITE, but I understand the frustration
The Hylian Shield Edition 2DS XL is still the coolest edition system I’ve gotten from Nintendo.
6:05 min : totally agree with you.. im waiting for that to hopefully happen too one day.. the Lite version with a little bigger screen and OLED. That wpuld for me also be: perfection.. because im a huge handheld fan too..
If im holding a normal Switch, first thing im thinking is: damn what is this thing big and heavy.. and a Switch OLED is even heavier.
Mine is arriving to me tomorrow, I can't wait.
4th gen is my favorite too, also chimchar is my all time favorite pokemon. Literally shocked that we are so similar in opinions.
Very cool edition I remember wanting that DS lite as a kid
I think Nintendo not making a Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Nintendo Switch OLED version is definitely a missed opportunity. I get why they didn't do it because all main series Pokémon games have been on handheld devices, but just imagine the dock, the joy cons, and the pro controller with the Diamond and Pearl treatment
They were probably going for 'Platinum' look with that sheen
I personally got the oled switch yesterday sold out all in 1 days I personally saw this switch lite edition at target before I went to work today. Best regards Nikita.K
the song sounds like my stove before it lights
The singer like Nintendo switch Lite it is just one solid handheld system that is easy to pick up and use
Actually grabbed my first Switch Lite which is this specific one from Gamestop. Just waiting for it to arrive. Can't wait.
YOOO THE INSTRUMENTAL IS FROM THE SONG TWIN SISTER BY JOHNNY STIMSON!!!
They should have colored the buttons silver with gold just like the pictures on the back. I have the sword shield switch lite and that one is so colorfull with his cyan and magenta buttons
I think another reason it's not an OLED is they announced it before the OLED was revealed (I'm fairly sure, I might be wrong)
I remember I was on summer vocation and I was looking for a switch bc my bro thing would be taking his when he left for college. At taht time I also had gotten Pokémon platinum for my ds. So I was oooking for a Nintendo switch and I got the notification taht Pokémon was streaming. So I went on their stream and after a day or two I preordered this switch. I’m so happy that I got it
I didn't know this was releasing today and I bought a gray Switch Lite last night. I bought this one today so now I'm waiting for the gray one to come in the mail...so I can immediately walk it to my local Gamestop and return it. :D
🤣I like that mega buster you have on your head in form of .....🤣
Maybe good suggestion Kevin, but I kind of think the reason Nintendo keeps doing these special releases is to keep interest going in the lite systems - purely marketing. The OLED sells on its own, and it doesn’t need any help at all.
Yea if only the first switch was oled
@@lllllll5990 I wish! That's what they should've done to be honest...
@@cloudcultdev facts we'd prob have a pro version rn with better performance b whatnot if they did
A 7 inch OLED screen on a switch lite would be amazing.
Love the metallic black and black buttons. Holding out for OLED switch lite since I play mainly in handheld mode
Thumbs up just for talking speed , excellent recording, happiness in ur videos
I've never owned a switch and a Nintendo product since I was a kid, but this switch makes me want to change that. Dialga and Palkia are my favorite legendary pokemon, so I love that they are on the back. The upcoming d&p remakes and Arceus game are also another reason.
