- In the early 2000s, Timbaland was making a lot of noise in the production world; however not only was he producing music, his vocals were also present on a lot of his records. Around this time period Timbaland teamed up Magoo to release a classic club anthem called, Drop.

Up jumps da boogie is still a bop
Timbaland and Missy crew was everything and couldn't never ever be repeated
For sure!!!
Yup!
You got that right!!
I like Luv 2 Luv U better because of Magoo's & Shawna's (before DTP) verses
@@kenterminateddq5311 she went hard I wonder where she at??? He need to do a what happened on her
In hindsight, Magoo was the shit 😂
Didn't try to do any fake gangster records, had a decent flow and was on more than one hit record.
#Facts
Magoo’s voice and Q-Tip’s voice sound a whole lot alike. Incidentally, I named my first dog Magoo, and a few years later, one of my cat’s name was Q-Tip.
@@iamcasihart Big facts 💯 on the voice similarity! ( Love from oakland California

Magoo had bars though. "I fiend for all beats like girls jump for dicks".
Magoo was definitely a memorable rapper of the 90’s! He seemed extremely humbled ❤
YES, VERY HUMBLE. IT SEEMS, CAUSE I WASN'T AROUND HIM😂😂😂😂❤
REST EASY MAGOO❤❤❤
Magoo's distinctive voice made up for the bars. He wasn't lyrical but he fit in perfectly with those Timbaland beats
Facts 🔥🔥🔥 Magoo did what he needed to do in his lane an it worked
Right
Distinctive....He sounds like Q-Tip!
You're being to kind. Magoo was trash.
Mag”a”noo had great bars!! Imma kill em all, like OJ
I loved Magic on “Beep Me 911” and so many other Tim&Magoo hits. He has nothing to prove to anyone. I’m sure he’s invested his money wisely and is living nice nowadays. I wish him nothing but the best. And he was easy on the eye😉😉
Beep me 911 go hard ass hell
That song is Dope as f*ck
Do you know if he has IG?
Stillll listen to beep me 911 the beat the bass 702 harmonies the song underrated af
Thank you for reminding me of this song. I had forgotten about it.
I lived in Va Beach, I remember Magoo was booed in Va. He went on the radio and said it hurt to be booed in his hometown. He said he was done then, Timbaland and everybody tried to convince him not to. I never understood all the hate he received.
Yep.. I remember that. Nobody in the 757 really liked him.
@@kinglevi6878 Why they do him like that
@@Rakeemgrant his name is Melvin, alot of locals thought his style was corny. At that time people wanted "gangsta" representation where he was from.

R.I.P. Magoo. Highly underrated 🙏🏽
Apparently, he’s died twice
REST IN PEACE MAGOO! August 13, 2023. His verse on “Luv 2 Luv U” track was a classic.
R.I.H. Magoo🤜🏿
He Had A Different Sound And Look
And Made Him Genuine,He Shined!
Magoo was futuristic and swagged up, we were blessed to have him at the time we did....
Magoo was cold just the times wasn’t ready for his fire flow. He had too enjoy some of his time in the game despite what he say
Magoo would fair well in today’s lyrical climate. He was just surrounded by the bullies of the era.
Right
I'm from and still in VA 757 area...Magoo is STILL legendary here in this area
Magoo wasn't lyrical at all but he can flow over any of Timbaland beat
I agree, his bounce was beautiful
Who the fuck can’t flow over a Timbo beat. I’m sure my mom could drop a hot 8 bars to his shit. Hott garbage.
Are we talking about Magoo or Tim???
There was too much focus on Tim
@@OAT86 fair enough
Right
Is there any talking about Magoo without focusing on Tim?!
Tim
Magoo's verse on "Clock Strikes" was awesome. His flow on Timbo beats was perfect.
Magoo was fie af to me, definitely different voice and sound which i liked and new especially in the 90s. Too many ppl slept on him
Magoo got a lot of flack for sounding like QTip but it wasn't like he was a wack rapper. He was apart of some big hit songs. He's a great complimentary rapper.
This video was more about Timbo than Magoo, but I like Magoo. He wasn’t the best, but he had a vibe.
In Magoo's defense, he actually did an interview this year explaining things.
1. He got stuck in the "he sounds like Q-Tip" conversation. He can't help that that's his natural speaking voice. Same can be said about Desiigner and Future or Fabolous and Mase.
2. He explained why he "dumbed down" his lyrics. That was to stand out. There's a bunch of lyrical miracle rappers, it all comes down to do you want to be respected or do you want to make money?
Damn, im just realizing how much mase sounds like Fab 😂.
Fab and Bank$
I was LITERALLY gonna say he sounded like Bargain basement #Q-Tip!!!
@@malloreix2361 this fuck me up 🤣

I named my first dog after Magoo! He raps, “I’m black and Indian, my race should be mutt.” My sweet little puppy was a beautiful black mutt. Magoo was my baby.
I miss Magoo.
He's Timbaland's Best Friend.
I do too
Magoo passed away
R.i.p Magoo. You will be missed. To 50 summers of hip hop

This video was 97% about Timbaland, 1% Missy & their other artists & 2% Magoo...
I actually talked to Magoo on Twitter the reason why he left music because it wasn't making him happy and he was focused on his daughter.
I used to be obsessed w ‘Indian Flute.’
Yeah. That joint was off the chain. That was him and Tim 2nd cd....
Magoo’s flow and pocket was 🔥🔥
Wow never knew that timberland and Pharrell where related
I was a huge Magoo fan! Great job with this selection Ali!
He had a unique sound in the songs he featured
Just went and listened to love to love ya . I was a kid when it dropped . He was ahead of his time . He literally snapped on that verse there’s dudes who can’t rap that good now .....
“I dream 'bout Leah Lando,
make all the Luciano
And girls with condos,
Chanel with Guitano
Girl my persono,
I share like Sonny Bono
Black and white keys,
lay girls on my piano”
He murdered that verse
Totally slaughtered that verse. I listen that song just to hear his part. Fools have some nerve calling this genius the worst rapper ever.
Luv ta Luv Ya = classic
“Indecent Proposal “ was so underrated. That track “Indian Carpet” is way ahead of its time 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Super facts to both y'all!!
I Am Music is my shit!
Party people ft Jay-Z and Twista is my favorite
What happened to the St. Lunatics? What happened to Murphy Lee?
Murphy Lee was the only other one besides Nelly who should've had a career
BET has a series called Finding on their UA-cam channel. They did an episode on Murphy Lee in 2019. It’s good. They did a bunch of other artists too. Plus it’s an actual interview. No secondhand info
@@nik-at-nite I swear I was just about to type this “finding Murphy lee”
They still active on Instagram. Murphy Lee and Ali still performing
Murphy Lee is married and had a wine line I believe. He said he would make music again
Tim & Magoo - Smoke in Da Air 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was a good one
Magoo was a fun rapper His songs are legendary party songs he never claimed to be a DMX I love his music
It would be cool if you do a video on Harlem World the group that rapped in " i really like it" with Mase in 1999.
Yeees
Hell yeah
Oh you mean murder Mase era then

Shit he need to do one on Mase wish washy ass.
Fun fact he got booed in va they threw the cds he gave back at em that's the day he quit rap fact
As a Major Timbaland Missy fan from the 90s , I appreciate Magoo base on the fact all the songs would've been different if it didn't have magoo on it. He held it down. Must Respect to him 🙏
RIP Magoo. You were in my top 5 favorite artists. That voice was so unique you had to listen. You will be missed.
Magoo was badass 👑👑💯💯
Timbaland and Magoo’s Welcome To Our World is a classic that makes me wish they were still at it.
Magoo on any song was fire. Period!!!!😍😍😍😍 Got to miss the late 90's and early 2000's.
Magoo made Timbalands career pop off. He was the real talent
He had so little impact that half of his what happened video was spent talking about timberland.
i was confused. it seemed like the video was about timbaland
My favorite track from Magoo was definitely "Deep In Your Memory". I used to rock that tape on the regular.
Timbaland from the basement is one of my favourite albums ever
One of my favorites too so hard to find
Yall would not say Magoo would fit in today 🤣...Magoo was where he needed to be and I love him as a duo with Tim...if you listen he had some nice lines. The 90s was just a time you had to be a beast... He had his place in the Super friends crew.
“I told Timbo, bro, Magoo sounds too much like Q-Tip, but he ain’t listen” - TK Kirkland
He is definitely a Q-tip clone
True
He's not a clone. He can't help the way he sounds.
I want to know what happened to Sharissa Dawes? I haven’t heard from her since the hit single Any other Night in 2002.
Distinct voice????? He sounded like Q-Tip
I like magoo his voice was cute and he had his own style

Didn't know Tim and Pharrell were related. I had been wondering what happened to Magoo for a while. Good info, keep it up.
💔thanks for this video, Ali. Having some privacy is an underestimated luxury. I do hope Magoo did enjoy his journey on Earth at the end of the day.
I heard Timberland and Pharrell were related...
......😒
Magoo ain't wack. Even 4 back then. He didn't have hip hop quotables but he sounded swell over Tim's beats
Magoo was a "feature artist".. couldn't really hit solo
Yep and that was perfectly fine

tims bio album was under rated had a young luda up there too. And I never heard pharell and Tim were related before. also didn't realize that album also had virginia williams who is Pusha T's wife up there too.
Love to love ya was that joint!!!!
What up Ali, Magoo lyrically wasn't up there but he was good enough in that era at that time to be a club banger with his slow pace style but didn't take control of his own career and explore other producers and see what other beats can match his style, I use to f**ks with Tim and Magoo back in the DayZ, actually my mom purchase they first CD and my first CD player for me for Christmas in 97
"Whoop i saw a Beatle, Hold up it's only Ringo" lol

The other 2 are now in dru hill...
Static died, and Black and Smoke are now a part of Dru Hill.
Static from the group wrote lollipop then he passed shortly after. R I P
His talent to me was for the club...like for dancing.
Magoo had that smooth rap voice. Magoo has a party rap style like Mase, Mase was just more popular, popularity doesnt necessarrily mean less or more skill as a rapper.
Mase was undoubtedly a far better rapper than Magoo. I don’t even think that’s debatable, but Magoo and Timbo did have some classic songs together.
Ali so dope these videos always on point and he really do his research one of the best channels on UA-cam 💙💙
That S.B I album cover is a GEM💯!.. salute to you for going hard on your research and for being a hip-hop head💯
Silk da Shocker please!!
Yessir the Supafriends was a whole vibe and Magoo's voice meshed well with each track. Still bopping to Magoo and the crew to this day...I really miss this era. 💯🔥✔
Magoo could rap. A lot of people just following some dumb bandwagon narrative. Good delivery and added to those songs he was a part of for sure.
Rap? Chile, did he even write his own lyrics? LMAO
Every time I hear "Drop" I instantly envision every early 2000's dance/cheerleader competition flick 🕺🏾🤸🏾♀️
Can I do one on Something for the People? My love is the shhh is the only song I heard by them.
Smoke in da air and clock strikes still bangs... Man undercover was hard too.
Good episode Ali In my honest opinion I fuck With Magoo and Tim as hip hop group I always feel that they make great music together never made since to me of them doing solo projects yeah I know They didn’t have the best lyrics but they knew how to make hit Records at least from the first and second 💿 Sometimes hard work beats talent any day
Whats up Ali, love your videos...shoutout to you brotha....A "What happened to Cassidy Larsiny" would be dope
I think Cassidy went back to battle rapping.
Yea magoo was a hell of a feature for timbalands sounds…he took off that beep me 911! Bruh got in did what he did and got tf on..respect!
