It blows my mind this only cost 80 million dollars to make studios like Marvel and DC should learn from this movie man

The reason why Marvel movies have a high budget is because it includes the actors salaries as well. So when you see a Marvel movie with a high budget but the CGI is horrible.. that means alot of the money went to paying the actors.. and most Marvel actors are big known celebrities

All I can think about was that this could have been the Mandalorian. Disney needs to hand over the reins to this dude and everyone involved in Andor and Rogue One.

@@chronocross85 That's not a valid excuse. A lot of the biggest actors in hollywood still do movies that have insanely low budgets. Oppenheimer had one of the biggest and most stacked casts ever with so many of the big names today and it still only cost $100 million to make

In an interview, Garath Edwards says that one of the things he really likes to utilize is scale. I think the aspect ration is to lend to this. Also, this movie was made for 80 million! WTF is Marvel spending money on?!

In response to your comments about the format, lenses, and cameras: We watched it in IMAX and it was crisp and immersive. I'm shocked he filmed it with cameras that have the same sensor as a consumer camera. That's amazing.

This movie just hit different when you're from SEA. I heard Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodian spoken, among others. Substituting the A.I/Robots with communist/insurgent then you have all the wars that the U.S have started after WWII combined, like in Vietnam and Afghanistan.
Replace the U.S army, bombing foreign villages to bits and executing helpless robots, with people and you've got yourself a historical documentary. So the U.S in this movie is not a representation of anything like you guys said. It's just the U.S being itself in a sci-fi movie.
The movie is actually a lot more likeable and understandable with a historical perspective. For those who are confused with it's message and plotlines then I'm sorry but your history teachers failed you.
Personal bias aside, this movie is flawed like all others. It doesn't flow very well in the middle parts. Probably because many scenes are cut during editing. I hope there will be a 3 hours director's cut but with its viewership it's not likely.

Does anyone else here think this film watches like an feature length sci-fi anime. I say this because Anime, particular one shot anime films tend to embrace tragedy and they do this to service an idea or a philosophical point. It values artistry and has a consistent aesthetic. It doesn't gratuitously press for action but when it does they make expansive wide shots that cut to intimate and on the ground close-ups. Edwards did this so well in Rogue 1 and in this as well. So i think it's like a 7.8/10, A- for me.

Amazing movie with the best visuals of the year, now that Dune Part II has moved to next year. There were a couple of things that didn't work for me: some of the humor fell flat and my suspension of disbelief was strained quite a bit ("the missed our turn" and the checkpoint scenes come to mind). Overall, though, another grreat movie by Gareth Edwards. Monsters, Godzilla, Rogue One and now this. Every single one of those pushes the right buttons for me. Him, Joseph Kosinski and Denis Villeneuve are my favorite directors right now.

The cinematography and the VFX are great; other than that, the acting and the writing are not that good; it's more like passable; the storytelling is not good; the plot is nothing new; it's cliche and predictable; the characters aren't that good, etc. It's a passable film at best, 6/10; I expected more; I was disappointed; definitely not even close to my top 10 movies of the year.
I need the Succession reactions! If not then start reacting with Achara one of these masterpieces: Mr.Robot, The Leftovers, The Bear, Ted Lasso, Barry, or Severance.

The USA was not the villain. AI was not the hero. …The USA acted as it did after 911. …. The movie is best enjoyed when you leave politics and current affairs at the door. No particular message. Just a nice story with groundbreaking effects.

This movie is all style over substance. It's tied with Blue Beetle as the most unoriginal film project to release in 2023 so far. It takes from A.I., Aliens, Avatar, T2, the Deus Ex video games, the Animatrix....the list goes. And yet it does nothing to go beyond those films. Not to mention the love story that I just don't care about. See it in theaters for the incredible visuals I guess, but other than that who cares?
