you just stated all the reasons for why I want a Birman cat. My family is quiet and so am I. Having a quiet, non-destructive cat companion would be great
Everything the guy in the video says is false, also I have a Birman and I wouldn't consider her quiet but the noises she does make are so full of personality it is amazing. If she cannot see us or wants to play there is a distinctive meow, when she jumps places she makes a trilling sound, she chirps at the birds to get them to come near the window. She has so many noises and they all have a purpose. They also don't have a double coat but no matter how much grooming, there will be hair everywhere. I adopted my birman (I think maybe ex show cat) from a shelter and she is the most perfect cat we could have asked for, she's 7 years old now but she's still incredibly active and goes into hunter mode at any hint of movement, you can definitely tell from her playing that if we didn't keep her indoors (we do) the wildlife would be obliterated, she is way too good a hunter
You don't seem to know too much about birman we have owned them for the last 25 years. For starters they have single coat that they are quite capable of looking after. Unlike a percian cat that needs grooming all the time
Yep agree, this guy has no idea, can’t even pronounce the breed name properly. Plus name one breed that doesn’t need grooming, doesn’t have any health issues and isn’t independent “at times”. Plus been inside, affectionate, relaxed is not a bad thing. What a waste of time.
My neighbour had one of these, I used to go round and feed and pet it when they went away. The thing was, it was so affectionate that when I tried to leave, it would hold onto my leg and nip my flesh. They just love company, very clever and it had the softest fur.
no, this is wrong. i have a birman cat and whenever i’m sad she always comforts me and helps me feel better when i’m sad. yes in her kitten phase she is a bit naughty, but besides that she’s the sweetest cat ever. she could definitely be a therapy cat or something. she definitely acts like a wild cat and she loves to play. she’s not very boring, she’s active and loves to play. i’m sure if she could go outside without running away she’d be very active (which, she already is but she’d be more if so.) she doesn’t only want attention, she never even asks for it.
I have a rescued Birman. She's absolutely the sweetest kitty-cat. She lost her original human and mourned for quite some time. However, she's finally pulled around and loves to be held, brushed, played with. Not a lap cat but loves hanging around with us. LOVES attention. Some of the cats on this video aren't even Birmans and whoever heard of a "Beerman"?
I'm a private tutor, and one of the families I go to has a birman, and he's the chillest cat I've ever seen. The kids would pick him up, put him in the drawer, in the cupboard, put him on their laps, and he wasn't at all bothered! 😂 I actually think he made their other cat, which was really skittish, more relaxed around me. Also, when he was a kitten, his whiskers were longer than his whole body! 🥰
A man adopted a Birman cat and lived happily ever after... Oh wait, thats me. My Jinxy girl is an amazing animal. A Birman's loyalty is 2nd to none. She is very playful, follows me everywhere around the house, loves my young grandchildren and is just a great no issue cat. Her blue eyes, super soft fur, and white paws are so beautiful while her general disposition is so loving. I would highly recommend one.
I agree. I've let all my Birmans out. They don't roam far, but they certainly enjoy it. They are perfectly capable of looking after themselves out there!
I grew up with a Birman named Cooper, and now have a 2 year old Birman named Sammy. Almost all of this is not true. Let me tell you why... 1. TOO LAID BACK. Not true. Birmans are calm but they still love to play and have fun! Not at all boring. They're also very interested in their person that they love to follow them and just hangout if that's what you want. Otherwise they love their play. Cooper would sometimes playfully wrap his paws around my legs when I would go up stairs and loved to play "peek a boo" to where I would peek out while looking at him and quickly hide and then he would fake a cat attack where he eventually came running at me (it was the cutest thing!)... Sammy loves to play with a wand cat toy that has a bell - that he sometimes won't let go of when he catches it. 2. NOT AN OUTSIDE CAT. Whether Birman Cats like to go outside or not I don't know. Cats are safer indoors anyway. Indoor cats don't need to be bathed as much (just once or twice a year) and they won't get fleas, ticks, or bring in outdoor allergens... I let Cooper go out 2-3 times on our balcony and he climbed down a tree and could have gotten lost so I decided not to let him outdoors anymore after that. 3. GROOMING MORE THAN OTHER CATS. False. Grooming a Birman cat is not that big of a deal. In fact, you groom them less often because they have an undercoat so they don't shed as much as other cats. I haven't been grooming my cats that often though I'm starting to a little more because Sammy absolutely loves being groomed. It's one of his favorite bonding times. 4. THEY LOVE ATTENTION. This is true because Birmans are known to be one of the most affectionate, loving and loyal cat breeds that there are. In my opinion they are the #1 most loyal cat breeds. But they are not at all demanding of your time. They are not the kind of cat to bother you for attention. 5. PRONE TO KIDNEY PROBLEMS. Not sure... I've never heard of Birman cats being prone to Kidney problems. Cooper never had kidney issues and Sammy doesn't. But I have heard of Birmans being healthy cat breeds. 6. ENJOY A RELAXED HOME. Not true... Birman cats are known to be good cats with other pets and children. Birman cats, like any cat, may prefer a calmer environment but mine didn't/don't. I would say it depends on the cat but most probably don't care. 7. INDEPENDENT AT TIMES. Not true... They're not often independent when you're home. They will usually even adjust their sleep schedule so that they sleep when you're at work and awake when you're home so they can greet you and have bonding time with you. They also enjoy meeting new people and will be friendly to family and friends and even guests.
It's your decision whether to buy a Burmese cat! Everyone who has one has their reasons!! I have two Burmese myself and I love them and would replace them with nothing and no one. And they are NOT lazy! On the contrary: You have a lot of fun playing with this race and we do it often! And every cat has its own specific diseases. By the way, unlike other cats, Burma is LAUM susceptible to diseases! So no prejudices against one (in my opinion) of the greatest cats in the world! 😾
THIS IS THE ONLY 1 REASIN YOU SHOULD NOT GET A BIRMAN… so back in 2016 I got a Birman cat names Cicle few years later we had a new neighbour she loved out cat one day she came up & said “I wish I had that cat it’s so beautiful!” Next day my cat went missing & the same lady moved to another place (my cat went missing the day my nephew was born) I miss him sm we don’t know if he’s dead or alive but I want him back
These are the qualities of the cat companion I *wish* I could have. I’m a University professor of Renaissance literature and poetry, and I spend a lot of time quietly reading and writing. It would be wonderful to have a non-demanding but affectionate and beautiful cat happy to stay by my side and enjoy my company as I work. My household is very relaxed and quiet. Unfortunately, we kind of “inherited” a very, very active and independent Maine Coon cat, and despite all the positive things seemingly everyone has to say about Maine coons online, mine is not at all a “gentle giant”-he is a large cat who sometimes, for absolutely NO reason at all, launches vicious, violent attacks, sinking his teeth deep into my arm. He is not at all affectionate; wants food constantly when he’s inside; and NEVER wants to simply “cuddle up” or spend quality time with me, despite my being very loving, patient, tender, and respectful, and playing with him chasing toys nearly every day. Instead, he prefers to spend most of his time outside, where he bullies all the cats in the neighbourhood…. A smart, beautiful, affectionate, non-demanding and gentle cat happy to be with me inside rather than getting always into trouble outdoors: a Birman sounds like the cat I need!
@@AAAA-tn2ul , gosh, that sounds amazing! I *really* wish I could get a blue-point Birman kitten, and raise him as my friend in the way that is best for both of us… The problem is Randy the Maine Coon: though not very companionate himself, he is quite possessive of me, and would be wildly jealous. The first time my attention got momentarily distracted, I *know* Randy would *kill* my Birman kitten (whom I would like to name Timogen). I don’t want to leave my Randy at a shelter, as no one wants a 10 y/o cat, and despite the difficulty Randy has caused me, I am a bleeding heart and love *even* Randy: I couldn’t leave him anywhere he might be put to sleep. Ugh…..I could give Randy only to someone who (unlike myself) would really *appreciate* his energy, hunting, independence, and Maine-cat beauty. They’d have to love Randy (as I do, despite everything) very, very much, and would provide him with a comfy, safe, spacious home.
I have a birman and shes SO and i mean SO SO energetic and affectionate. I have no regret for adopting her. Shes not boring at all. She always comforts me and follows me around the house, shes really playful and friendly with my other cats, overall i think birmans are really underrated because their so good for first time owners, their easy to groom, their friendly with kids and other animals, and most of all the best friend (and therapist) you could ever ask for ❤
A couple of things. 1. Too Laid Back, not always, one of mine has his zoom moments. 2. Not an outside cat, have you watched Cats 101, a guys Birman loves to go outside in the garden and climb trees, freaking their owner out. Mine loves their Catio. 3. More Grooming than other Cats, have you met the Persian and the Angora, they require brushing on a DAILY BASIS! Once a week brushing, I find it Therapudic, kitty purrs loud during the brush, also loves the hair dryer as well. 4. They Love attention, as does any other cat that really likes you. 5. Kidney problems? I'm a member of a Birman Group, very few talk about kidney problems, hairball, yes, loose stool yes, but UTI or Kidney problems, hardly, you must've gotten a "Peanut" 6. I know that my friends birman, Teddy, LOVES being around kids, and cuddles them, another friend of mine gets along fine with a couple of Bengals, and chase each other around the house. 7. Not really, Birmans are very social cats, it doesn't like being lonely, if you have another animal pet, it'll be the Birman's BFF be it a dog, another breed of cat, a rabbit or even a fish.
Birmans are never boring. What they said here is not true. I have 2 birmans. They are playing a lot, of course they sleep also a lot, because they are cats. They love their owner, they follow me often, they like to be with people. Every cat breed has some kind of typical sicknes soooo…… Also not true they are not going outdoor. Every cat likes to be outdoor. They can get out just fine into a small garden. They are very good hunter. Specially the birman cat ladies. They can be also left alone. Not for weeks, but if I have 12 hours shift….they are just fine. They do not like children?! Also not true. They love their people, they are gentle to children. Some birmans are used as a therapy cat. Grooming?! Every day?! Also not true. I do it maybe once a month?! They have just a beautiful fell. This is video is completly wrong. In every single point I can write the opposite.
I have Birman cats. Yes they’re like dogs but kitty version. They love attentions and they don’t want to be left alone and they want to join whatever you are doing. Even exercising they will imitate you. They’re like dogs. They also want to sleep right beside you in the same bed. My parents got them their own mini beds with their own comforters right beside their bed so that’s also an option. They do usually love people even strangers if you properly socialize them while they’re a kitten less than 3 months old (breeders will do this). They don’t have kidney problems if you get them from a top breeder. Yes you pay $$$ but they’re all worth it. They live for a long time, my last one died after 23-24 years. And you do need to brush them daily. Not once a week as they will have hairball issues if you don’t.
I’ve had Birmans for over 20 years a fabulous and loving breed. They have the sweetest faces and this video does not do the justice to their beauty. Every Birman I’ve owned has their own distinct personality, social and I’ve never had any major health issue. Sorry but I disagree with this video.
My Birman is crazy energetic, he get's bored with me all the time! He does not like chaos though and is super vocal if so, he is super talkative as well, but he has a very, very sensitive tummy and can be prone to anxiety. He is unfailingly loyal and loving too. He needs daily cuddles and regular brushing as shedding in summer can block them up from grooming. He is like a dog and licks my face and hand all the time. The are a divinely good natured and strong breed with big personalities. But they don't like being left on their own, they are groupies, very social cats and love companionship.
I have two birmin and this video is spot on about the breed. However, these seven reasons (other than 5 kidney probs - but ours are well looked after medically) are the reasons why they are great cats (for our family). You can also add that they have a soft whispery meow when they want something and if they don' t get it, they will let you know they REALLY want something. Nina will scream 2 inches from your face when she wants you to get up and Ruby will start telling you an hour ahead of her normal feeding time, VERY LOUDLY. All in all, along with a 20 year old calico before we got these, they are awesome cats.
Our Birma is super social even to complete strangers, a real hunter, loves to play fetch, is kind to our children, not in much need of grooming. I wonder if this video was made to provoke in order to get comments and by that higher rank = monetise
Birman cat only have single layer hair and they like going out. And they are very calm and can do well with noisy kids and even dogs. They are friendly, they like companies and aren't afraid of bunch of people coming over for parties. They would come out walk around the living room among all your guests to see everyone and then climb up high to overwatch your party from the top of a wardrobe. I'm afraid you got most of the info the wrong. I have a Birman and a vet doctor in the family to proof yiur understanding of Birman aren't the right portrait.
I've never heard 'Birman' pronounced like this before 😂😂 also they have a single coat not double, i have one and he's really lovely to groom, one of the things i love most about him.
Beerman is a better pronunciation. Most people think you're referring to Burmese otherwise. I might start calling my cat that. They are a weird breed and mine is bitey, especially if I go to feed him and get distracted... fits all the characteristics mentioned in the vid. Cept that he gets outdoor time *during daylight only*. Other cats would be their worst enemy. Despite muscles and strength they find a noisy world or a threat to be overwhelming. An elderly Terrier barely able to hold its head up horrified my Birman - which was three times that dog's size.
You know nothing about Birman cats, if that’s your thought process. Birman cats ARE from Burma! You might wanna educate yourself. And you get from your pets what you put into them so if your cat is territorial, that’s on you bc my Birman was the sweetest cat on the planet with people & pets alike.
Being an owner of Birmans for the past 30 + years, you are not describing or pronouncing this breed correctly. First it's pronounced "Bur-man" not "Beer-man". They are not considered a large cat, they weigh between 5-12 lbs. True they are a calm cat, but they LOVE to play and interact with their owners; Birmans do like to go outside, but should NEVER be let out on their own; you certainly can groom/brush your Birman weekly, they love it, but it does NOT have a double coat, the beauty of the long haired Birman is that it's a simple single coat that does not mat or knot; the rest of your description of this breed is pretty much on the mark. They are beautiful, quiet cats that enjoy their human owners.
They do not have a double coat that is why they are considered low maintenance long hair cats for you just need to groom them once a week. I am actually still waiting for one good reason not to own one. By the way Birman is not pronounce" beer-man" but "burr-man" You seem to want and describe a Bengal, Egyptian Mau or Abyssinian cat or simply a dog. Most of your facts are either contradicting or incorrect. I do not know of any responsible pet owners that would ever suggests that it is OK not wanting to bring your cat or a dog to a vet for regular visits as a reason why not to get one.
I got a Birman last year, and last month I got my second one. They love going outside, grooming should be done bi-weekly imo and that's still considered low maintenance. They can be energetic and vocal. They are the best cats in the world.
My Birman female cat loves going outside in the garden. However, I always make sure that she stays inside at night and in bad weather. Very affectionate cat.
He. It is a he. The perfect color points... Seal Point Birman. Um. He has a white chin though? Ok, not perfect? No, no. I was wrong. A Seal Mitted Ragdoll.. longer tail, and more pronounced nose... He has gotten older. One month and he's now almost half the size of my Short Haired American and almost as tall. And his tail is 40 plus percent his length. And, soft silky short hair... His nose is abnormally long .. After a lot of reading, checking, cross references.... My kitty is a Seal Mitted Ragamese. Not a recognized breed, but... He shows many characteristics of all of the breeds. He plays ruff. He is vocal in communication. Short, silky fur. Longer back legs. Friendly beyond all words... Is a human, can carry and take with you cat. He will not take offense or rudeness. He just gets up and walks away... He loves the dog... The 40 pound dog. He loves the 5 year old... I'll repeat that. He Loves the 5 Y.O.! I was planning on building a spot for him to hide to get away from a house that is too loud and frantic for a Birman. This cat, unfortunately wasn't a Birman, but he is a diamond in the ruff. If he's uncomfortable, he just comes to the woman or I. Next choice is Bob (grey short hair that claims me) or the dog. He wants to play, usually not by himself as he likes friends, he will just ponce (tip to tip... Around 2 foot/.62 meters long. He will clear 6 foot/2.8 meters easily and can jump mid chest on me... I'm 6'0"...) anything that moves. No cares given. While he is polite to the adult humans, all else is far game. Bob, asleep... A flash and... Heyhei also spends a lot of time cuddling and cleaning to 'apologize'. I would love to have a Birman. They are a wonderful breed. I love ragdolls. Have for a long time. Siamese... Beautiful cats. Loyal, but... I never cared for their temperament. I got a Seal Mitted Ragamese. Mitted gene from the Birman. Seal Point of all the breeds. Hair is Siamese. Nose is too... This cat has most of the best parts of each breed when placed in my household. I'm learning about cat and dog psychology and basic medical. Right now, just on my own... But who knows.
I have a Birman cat, he's 11 years old and an absolutely beautiful cat. Yes he's an inside cat, looses fur coming into summer and he's shy of strangers. Birmans are very affectionate and just love cuddles. ❤
Terrible, I have a Birman and she is incredible, along with my friends whose parents have 6. They are playful... and not boring, she gets amped and wants to play with us twice a day every day, fetch, chase, she will play anything. They love attention? What is the problem with this... don't you want your cat to be around? We also travel internationally sometimes for up to ten days, we get a cat sitter and she is fine. Also, its "Burr-man" not "beer-man". The independant leaving thing is not true... Bimans come out when there is a party.. my cat comes out, jumps up on the fireplace mantle and has everyone staring at her... . She has moments during the day when she is on her own, and then comes out for other moments to cuddle hang out... not sure where you got these facts from. lol WRONG
Biman's coats don't mat. Nothing horrible happens if you don't brush them. That said they love to be brushed at least mine does. She's a sweet little doll of a cat but she scares easily and doesn't warm easily to new people.
So basically it's for an introvert who almost have no party/heavy activities around house that likes to be a streamer or work from home tech would provide the BEST type of home for Birman, gotcha!
@@ulrikekerp5035 they do have some issues with heart (HCM) and a slight risk of kidney issues. Get them from a reputable breeder and check in the kitten's pedigree for HCM and other health issues in the line. Here in my country, you get a health certificate with the kittens and the parents of my kittens have DNA tests for potential problems. Birmans are wonderful cats, so cuddly and love being with their people. Good luck.
my birman cat is the most „ADHD-in-need-of-attention-cat“ ever 😂 also he is ALWAYS has to take the centre stage when we have friends coming over. so pretty different from what you’re describing 😅
The main reason you should not get a Birman cat is that when they shed, they shed like crazy. It's literally the onky downside to this otherwise amazing and perfect cat.
my friend is a vet so i’m good to go for the kidneys thing. also i want a cat that loves attention because i love giving them attention and i want a cat that sleeps with me and will lay on me all the time and i’m almost never gone from the house and i don’t like the outside much either sooooo i need a birman
Weirdest way to say 'Birman" (Biermen cat)... It's "Bur man" 🤦🤦 owned one for 17 years, these are the best cats around, they love snuggles, pats, and don't love playing heaps. They're really relaxed. Birmans are among the healthiest cat breed out there and their coat is anti mat and low maintenance. If you want a birman i suggest 2 birmans they're happiest in pairs.
If you have to make a video about why not to own a Birman there's something not quite right about it! Birman are quite simply the most beautiful cats in the world, but not only that they are proppercats! They confuse you daily, make a fool of you when you think you can predict them, and are never the same two days on the trot! There personalities are just wonderful, very tactile and so naughty. In short, everything a cat should be. The absolute reason why you should let "one own you"
And reason no.8 (the most important) Birman cat is not interested for hunting mice. They may catch a mouse every occasionally, but they’re not really that into hunting, stalking and chasing mice down.
They are called Birman not Beerman or whatever you are saying. They are not outdoor cats, no cats are outdoor cats they are domesticated animals that are to live indoors. Any owner who just leaves their cats outdoors or to come and go are irresponsible pet owners and should not have the privilege of owning one. As for the beautiful Birman you couldn’t ask for a better companion. Looks, intelligence, train ability, gets along with all people and other animals. Any one that has loved and owned a Birman will tell you, they are the best!
Hmm my Birma loves the outside, and hunting, it can catch up to 8 mouse a day, so it does pretty well for it self outside, its a perfect cat , if you like a cat that's friendly loves to pet and does fantastic as both and inside and out cat, never aggressiv, true dont like to much commotion and noise
Birman is pronounced "Burrman" as it comes from France. Birmans are a semi-long hair, so only have a single coat, not the double coat of Persians, minimising grooming. The cats at 2 minutes in are Ragdolls, not Birmans (!!). Birmans are no more prone to kidney problems than any other cat. We have breed Birmans for over 25 years, and never had any kidney problems. Birmans are pretty sociable. Our Birmans like greeting strangers. Indeed one big plumber came to do some work and stated "I hate cats ... but I love that one" as our red point girl circled his legs.
I had many birman cats and they are easy to keep. They like going out and play on the grass. And they lived long years! Grooming is like any long-haired cats
Very affectionate cat breed... I have an experience when me and my friend go for a morning walk I found a birman cat kitten I just said a hai to him , surprisingly he dashed at me and start to rub his face in me❤ ,very lovely breed if it's a homeless cat I would surely take him but he has a owner 😂 that's my experience with this breed
This is so funny! my only fear some folks will not realize your humor. a quick note…. Birmans, The Sacred Cat of Burma/thailand , have been genetically tested through UCDavis genetic lab. They are from Northwest Thai. through the genetic tests they got the single long hair coat from the Turkish Van. the pointed coat wich also is genetically linkied to blue eyes. as in Siamese cats. Their white feet come from the “random white spotting gene gained from those turkish van kitties. Birmans have a true history. the above b is not knowle
My old catnwas a mix we dont knownwhat but mayby part birmN cousenshebdied from kidney issues actualy a problem with a lotnof cats and modern food But only thing visualy that would speak birman was white cotton belly floof whitebubdergostnsticking out at parts bigsize she was verry cute
I have a Birman, she is small and still looks like a kitten! She is ten! They are not boring, they are gentle and mellow and she likes playing hide and seek. They were originally temple cats in Burman and are very special. They will follow you around and are really curious, but in a very calm way. They also like running around and do go outside, but to be honest would you want a $700 cat running around outside? It would get stolen. This guy is all wrong!
Most aggressive time for Birmans is when they are sleeping. A Birman colony will fight for the highest sleeping spot as a kind of Alpha system. So when you disturb a Birman thats sleeping, the fight is on. Most expect their Birman to perk up and be glad to see them. Otherwise mostly loyal and snuggly for me.
Is this a joke? This sounds like 5 reasons a Birman cat is the best cat, and I should absolutely get one, and two reasons that a Birman cat is basically a cat.
For a novice here : *Is the "Birman" and "Burmese" the same breed ?* - I hail from South Asia but was confused between the two names from reading stuff online. I was led to believe that a "Burmese" is a long lived native landrace of Burma (Myanmar) while the "Birman" was an import to western nations which has some other blood line mixed in them too ? Don't know whether I am correct since I also heard that this *very same breed* was gifted to some European royalty or Premier of North America by the Burmese royal family if I am not mistaken. In that case, makes Birman a 100% landrace and same as the term "Burmese" . Am a lone professional whom stays with my Father and thought of adding an extra member to the family who would be a great companion to us. The Birman was first to catch the eye since the description very much matched what we expected in the breed - A cat that hangs around humans a lot, is laidback and is kind of loyal to the household. Don't know if we are making the right decision but it is also extremely difficult to get a Birman in Southa Asia other than probably in Burma. Hence wished to know. Thanks.
Well I want a Birman bc I don’t really go out a lot I’m chill so I also have a relaxed home I just have two dogs they are calm and not clingy I want one bc sometimes I feel alone cuz my dogs don’t even pay attention to me I just like feel lonley, well at first I hated having cats as pets because my moms friend got blind all because of a cat, the scratched her in the eye but then I heard some rumors about cats being so calm and cuddly
thank goodness I watched this video before getting a birman cat... no way would I want a chilled out relaxed cat that likes hanging around indoors, and needs to be groomed an eye-watering ONE time a week. sounds like pure hell.
Me watching this video and I already have one 😂
same lol ive had birman cats all my life they're great and low maintenance
The only fact you need to know if you're considering getting a Birman. 1. Get a Birman you won't regret it.
Only fact you need to know about getting a Birman: get 2! They're better in pairs, trust me I know!!
I was thinking about getting a briman and an orange tabby since both are social
I have 2 Smokey and muppet
What about ppl with allergies?
Agreed. If you aren't home all the time and don't have other cats or dogs.... Get 2. They need friends
you just stated all the reasons for why I want a Birman cat.
Unlike a percian cat that needs grooming all the time
ive had my Birman for the past 12 year, love her to bits, everything on this video is FALSE
Yeah ngl it seems like they just either wanted to clickbait or hate birmans for some reason!
My friend has one and he's sweet and gorgeous. No problems with him, at all. ❤
Thank you for your info I'm in the perfect cat for my livelihood
My neighbour had one of these, I used to go round and feed and pet it when they went away. The thing was, it was so affectionate that when I tried to leave, it would hold onto my leg and nip my flesh. They just love company, very clever and it had the softest fur.
You have absolutely convinced me that I want a Birman!!!!
You just told me why I should get a Birman cat
haha nice!
Can you bath them often?
Heck yes 😂😂😂
That's wrong: they have only a one layer coat and no undercoat.
no, this is wrong. i have a birman cat and whenever i’m sad she always comforts me and helps me feel better when i’m sad. yes in her kitten phase she is a bit naughty, but besides that she’s the sweetest cat ever. she could definitely be a therapy cat or something. she definitely acts like a wild cat and she loves to play. she’s not very boring, she’s active and loves to play. i’m sure if she could go outside without running away she’d be very active (which, she already is but she’d be more if so.) she doesn’t only want attention, she never even asks for it.
We have two of them. Amazing healers❤
This cat is legit the exact same as me (I literally also brush my hair once a week) THANKS, NOW I WANT ONE EVEN MORE
A man adopted a Birman cat and lived happily ever after...
This video should be called why you should get a birman cat
"They are not an outside cat" omg do NOT let my boy Billy hear this, he definitely thinks he is an outside cat!!!!
I agree. I've let all my Birmans out. They don't roam far, but they certainly enjoy it. They are perfectly capable of looking after themselves out there!
Once you’ve owned a Birman. You will never wish to have another breed. They are beautiful both inside and out and, my goodness, they will love you.
Cooper would sometimes playfully
wrap his paws around my legs when I would go up stairs and loved to play "peek a boo" to where I would peek out while looking at him and quickly hide and then he would fake a cat attack where he eventually came running at me (it was the cutest thing!)...
THIS IS THE ONLY 1 REASIN YOU SHOULD NOT GET A BIRMAN… so back in 2016 I got a Birman cat names Cicle few years later we had a new neighbour she loved out cat one day she came up & said “I wish I had that cat it’s so beautiful!” Next day my cat went missing & the same lady moved to another place (my cat went missing the day my nephew was born) I miss him sm we don’t know if he’s dead or alive but I want him back
Your neighbour literally stole your cat wtf
she stole it
My two birman cats love the outside and always sleeps in my garden
Why is "not an outside cat" on this list ? people should not be leaving their cat outside in the first place
Lol I do a lot of reading and my Birman is always sleeping on my lap…. When he wakes up he meows for food lol
@@AAAA-tn2ul , gosh, that sounds amazing! I *really* wish I could get a blue-point Birman kitten, and raise him as my friend in the way that is best for both of us…
The problem is Randy the Maine Coon: though not very companionate himself, he is quite possessive of me, and would be wildly jealous.
Can I ask if a birman would be okay with people going to school(7 hrs) and work(8 to 9 hrs)?
Yes all good
Our Birman loved to walk on a leash outside every day.
Birmans are perfect cats. Definitely good for the majority of people..
You've made the case why you SHOULD get a Birman cat. Best cat breed hands down.
Great cats
No best cat breed. is Ragdolls (they come from BirmanXPersian tho) lol 😂🥰
Love my Birman!!! Get one. You won’t regret it.
I'm a member of a Birman Group, very few talk about kidney problems, hairball, yes, loose stool yes, but UTI or Kidney problems, hardly, you must've gotten a "Peanut"
You certainly don't know anything about Birman cats.
My birman defies all breed personality traits. Although she’s a giant brat with a huge personality, i still couldn’t imagine life without her
Birmans are never boring. What they said here is not true. I have 2 birmans. They are playing a lot, of course they sleep also a lot, because they are cats. They love their owner, they follow me often, they like to be with people.
Every cat breed has some kind of typical sicknes soooo……
Also not true they are not going outdoor.
This video made me more convinced to get one ❤️❤️❤️
Birman cats do not have a double coat.
my birman, name “umimi”, is angel.she is very calm, and gently. I am glad to meet umimi.
I wonder if this video was made to provoke in order to get comments and by that higher rank = monetise
thats awesome!
Male or female?
Dude... all cats have to be groomed 1x a week and are independent. Also all cats CAN have kidney problems
It’s a BIRMAN… like BRRRman, not “beer-man” FFS. 🤦♀️
where tf did you get this misinformation from?
I love my Birman. She’s a total sweetheart and I would highly recommend them to anyone who wanted one.
As everyone else has said you know absolutely nothing about the Holy Cat.
I got a Birman last year, and last month I got my second one. They love going outside, grooming should be done bi-weekly imo and that's still considered low maintenance. They can be energetic and vocal. They are the best cats in the world.
Can you bath them and how about allergies?
Just stated all the reasons I'd want one. The breed is pronounce 'berman' not 'beerman!'
My Birman female cat loves going outside in the garden. However, I always make sure that she stays inside at night and in bad weather. Very affectionate cat.
Adopted a kitten a week ago .... I'd never heard of the Birman. I am in love. She is awesome
He.
Birman is the best house cat breed in my opinion
I have had Birmans for over 20years.
Beautiful intelligent cats they follow me everywhere
What about hunting mice? Are Birman cats good mousers?
For me this was more 7 reasons why I should get a birman cat
Terrible, I have a Birman and she is incredible, along with my friends whose parents have 6. They are playful... and not boring, she gets amped and wants to play with us twice a day every day, fetch, chase, she will play anything. They love attention? What is the problem with this... don't you want your cat to be around? We also travel internationally sometimes for up to ten days, we get a cat sitter and she is fine. Also, its "Burr-man" not "beer-man". The independant leaving thing is not true... Bimans come out when there is a party.. my cat comes out, jumps up on the fireplace mantle and has everyone staring at her... . She has moments during the day when she is on her own, and then comes out for other moments to cuddle hang out... not sure where you got these facts from. lol WRONG
oh along with the hair thing... they don't have two coats.. literally all your facts are WRONG!
better video here. ua-cam.com/video/Xnbv__cnPrw/v-deo.html
Okay, but I think Birman cats have a single coat, not a double coat. So for having this soft half-long fur the grooming is actually very easy.
HUH?? I am a Birman breeder, this has to be sarcasm.
Hi, I consider to get a birman cat: do they really have kidney problems or other health problems?
@@ulrikekerp5035 they do have some issues with heart (HCM) and a slight risk of kidney issues. Get them from a reputable breeder and check in the kitten's pedigree for HCM and other health issues in the line. Here in my country, you get a health certificate with the kittens and the parents of my kittens have DNA tests for potential problems. Birmans are wonderful cats, so cuddly and love being with their people. Good luck.
I have one now and have had 5 in the past. I’m looking for #7. If I had money, I’d be looking for #8, #9, #10…
I have had several breeds of cats. I have had two Birmans and they are my favorite.
Definitely the best type of cat. Seen one fight off two pitbulls after being mangled by one, it ended up doing severe damage to one of the pitbulls.
my birman cat is the most „ADHD-in-need-of-attention-cat“ ever 😂 also he is ALWAYS has to take the centre stage when we have friends coming over. so pretty different from what you’re describing 😅
I know the video’s trying to tell the reasons why we shouldn’t get a birman, but these are all the things I like 😂
The main reason you should not get a Birman cat is that when they shed, they shed like crazy.
The absolute reason why you should let "one own you"
1 reason not to get a Birman cat is if you want to save the best cats for other people.
'why you shouldn't get a birman'
*Proceeds to explain why you need one*
And reason no.8 (the most important) Birman cat is not interested for hunting mice. They may catch a mouse every occasionally, but they’re not really that into hunting, stalking and chasing mice down.
I had a magnificient birman cat. This description is right on the money.
I have had a birman now for two years.. he's amazing.
The only bad thing i can thing is theyre too friendly & welcoming 🥺🥺
Grooming is like any long-haired cats
as a happy owner of a birman, i can confirm these facts are true. but just get one and u will see why its one of the cutest cats
I have a 9 year old female ragdoll birman I'm thinking of getting another cat my tabby after11 years passed away in September of 2022
Pretty sure my cat was a Birman cat except he did go outside
Nothing more relatable-
We have a Berman cat not very friendly always quite nervous
My old catnwas a mix we dont knownwhat but mayby part birmN cousenshebdied from kidney issues actualy a problem with a lotnof cats and modern food
But only thing visualy that would speak birman was white cotton belly floof whitebubdergostnsticking out at parts bigsize she was verry cute
POV OF BIRMANS: meow i love you pls pick me up
👇
Why does he call it a Beerman? Because it comes from Beerma? or Meeryanmar?
I have a Birman, she is small and still looks like a kitten! She is ten! They are not boring, they are gentle and mellow and she likes playing hide and seek. They were originally temple cats in Burman and are very special. They will follow you around and are really curious, but in a very calm way. They also like running around and do go outside, but to be honest would you want a $700 cat running around outside? It would get stolen. This guy is all wrong!
All the reasons "not to" get a Birman are the reasons I want one. 😂
I had a Birman cat and it was the most meanest cat I have ever seen in my life . No the cat was not abused . Extremely aggressive !
Thanks.
No they're different.
Sound like a nightmare cat 😂😂😂.. it’s perfect beautiful cat ❤❤❤❤❤
Looks like you don’t have a Birman cat They love the outside, and usually energetic.
I have one and she is an outdoor cat! Has love going outside and hunting since she was a kitten!
😛 😛
