- I've had this old sno runner sitting up on the shelf for years collecting dust! some of yas have asked about it so I figured why not pull it off the shelf and see if the old girl still has a bit of life left in her 🍻 it's missing a few parts but we'll giver a go anyway.

I'm an old school sledder and love you videos of you posting older sleds. Brings me back to the early days. Thank you
Glad you like them!🍻
I used to have one of those back in the mid 80's my buddy bought like five of them sold me one and we used to have a blast on them for ever. little 2 stroke engine ran pretty good. Topped out at about 15-25 on packed snow
Brings back some great memories 👍
Would you have any idea what the price was for them back then?
That was Chryslers emergency unit to get you to help when you got stuck or broken down where there is limited traffic back in the day. I’m sure it may have save one or two life’s from freezing to death in the dark cold nights, hence the headlight for night safety.
Took my 11 year old son Daniel to see Pete today, as he had a day off school and wanted to meet Pete really bad. We had a an awesome visit and picked up some swag. Pete was fantastic and we love all the amazing work he does, especially this old sno runner. Thanks again Pete, you made Dannys day, and mine as well.
it was really great to me you both and it was pretty cool to see how much of a fan Daniel is lol he's a good kid! 🍻
Just so's ya knows , that noise maker under the seat is a genuine Chrysler " Power Bee " and she cranks out a whoppin 7 hp, probably not full size horses, maybe large ponies.
I bought three of these when I was 16 ('m 50 now) from one of my buddies in high school. I still have one of them. His dad worked for Chrysler and got them as a Christmas gift from the company. Mine still runs like a beast! Fires right up every year when it's time to ride it.
my dad and i love the channel . my dad told me about this channel about two weeks ago , and hes always watching your channel on his t.v.. Im always watching it on my phone.
We love fast sleds and atvs, bikes and we love Drinking beer , and we love building ,fixing, and riding we spend all our free time in the shop fixing our toys .
Can watch sled racing all day
Its the things we always wonder about like the 700 shootout!!
More of the videos (bomby,Yamaha, polaris, arctic cat .)
Would be 👍
that's awesome!! we'll definitely try to do some more races when or if we get snow again lol thanks for the support 🍻
Happy New Year Ladies and Gents! Thanks for the Video. Can't wait for the website to get up and running. Cheers!
thank you! cheers 🍻
Awesome video Pete! Looking forward to merch being available... The Switchback definitely needs a "she dangles" decal. Keep up the great work!
thank you! 🍻
The 'Sno-Runner' was a unique and a rare find in my part of central Ontario Canada. I, and all of my teenage friends wanted one back-in-the-day and saving-up from our summer jobs would have bought one of these bad-boys new. They were never available for sale anywhere, yet they were a limited release and their availability disappeared by '83. With plastic track paddles these concoctions were obviously meant to be disposable.
Those things were cool.fix it up your son will have a blast.👍🍻✌️
Happy New Year Bud I love your videos
thank you! Happy New Year! 🍻
cant wait for the merch drop! nice snow bike its like a gt sled on steroids
I had one of these around the mid 80's. There was some outfit in Michigan that use to send me post cards for annual winter mailings...Snow Rabbit or something? I had bought the performance muffler, intake, new track, and something else out of their mailer. My room mates and I had a track around the house one winter, drinking beers and riding that thing around the house at a pretty good speed. The track wore down eventually and the rear track caught the edge of the sidewalk and broke the rear ski front mount, putting an end to the fun. It was pretty cool.
It was the coolest thing I ever seen.
I was 12 when it came out.. don't know anyone that had one but the pictures of it in the snow looked cool.
Happy new year! Cute kid!
My grandpa gave me his old Sno Rabbit (same exact color and everything, different name for some reason) for my 10th birthday.
It was the perfect way to learn motorcycle riding (if you fall in snow it don't hurt) Top speed was somewhere btwn 20-30 mph, I don't remember.
Pete. I still have mine that thing was awesome I am going to dig mine out like ya did I am not getting rid of it thanks for the motivation
That's awesome! 🍻
I wouldn’t recommend setting the auxiliary fuel tank up for gravity feed, as it’s not meant to run on gravity. The carb has no problem pumping enough fuel as it is. I’d love to see more of this series as I just picked one up a few weeks ago. 👍
Awesome. Always wanted to find one of these Chryslers.
Looking forward to the motor upgrade and track upgrade video on this project 🍻
Always look forward to the content!!!! NICE ONE!!!
Much appreciated!🍻
Super video!! I'm 60 yrs old and I'm gonna weld something like this together. To hell with $16K sleds! Talk about Mad Max.😀
I like to say Mother Nature is on her Bi-Polar role coaster.
Pretty cool will be interesting to see it on the snow
Enjoy your content Pete. I have absolutely zero mechanical ability, but I think you could teach even a simpleton like me to get a sled running, and at the same time laugh and giggle while doing it. The world needs more folks like you buddy. Happy New Year.
thank you! that is awesome of you to say 🍻
Keep this series going! Get this thing up and running!
haha will do!
This thing is awesome . I literally subscribed just because of this video
Thank you! 🍻
Keep the sno runner series coming.
i had one of these in the 90s, always had to work on it to keep it running. but she was a fun little machine
I have never seen anything like that.. that looks fun as hell and dangerous at the same time... 😂...
it is pretty cool 🍻
That thing is as old as me and I've never seen one... I think it's pretty cool and would love to see it going! 👍
That would be cool!🍻
I had a couple of these back in the early 80s. They were fun when you could get them started. The gas tank was sufficient for good riding time. I believe I pd about $150 each and were barely used at the time. I remember the chain cleats were rubberized to the chain. These Sno runners would go about 25 mph on semi flat ground having about 9hp. Sold them after first winter of having them. I guess I should of kept them with prices you are quoting.🤔
Don’t feel Bad the weather in Vermont hasn’t been any better. Completely sucks a I really want to take my yemiha out fer a rip ehh!! Hey I can make fun I’m a dual citizen n my parents are Canadians lol! Love you channel bro
thanks! yeah the weather definitely isn't on our side this year so far lol 🍻
Hey, Pete. Leave it as wall art. NICE ONE!
Now that is a piece of art. I want to ride it
In the process of restoring one right now (a NewYears Resolution), just about done. Original owner, purchased for under $300 in 1982!! Just about everthing you need (& I need) are still available but a bit costly!! Can't get it started, thanks for the idea got from your video good luck.
That is awesome! I hope ya get it rippin!!! I'm workin on mine....but I'm redneckin it pretty hard lmao 🤣🍻
Amazing. Gotta love it. Nice one
Well i'am a big fan of original love to see it back operating as is .
That thing is sweet. Cant wait for the me cry.😁👍👍👍
I remember them things when I was a kid they look like they were fun to ride. Should try and get it going just the way it is
It looks like quite fun ride. I've seen some DIY versions that basically were part scooter with attached snowmobile track and sleds.
Found Sno-Runner on eBay, ~$2500.
Use a old 55 gallon plastic drum for your track parts works amazing.. can't wait to see yours rip
OMG... I wanted one of these soooo bad growing up.... lol
Can’t wait for part 2 ✌🏻
Cool project. I am new to your channel but Definitely would like to see you keep this project going. Interested to see what kind of track you can retrofit to it. 👍on the bigger motor idea.
Awesome, thank you!🍻
Cool snow runner ,new sub here ,thank you for sharing big hugs from MN
Thanks for the sub!🍻
Nice one Pete 😄 go big or go home 😂 like to see you put a bigger motor in it very cool...
That's the plan! 🤣🍻
Happy new year pete!
Happy new year!🍻
wow that's cool, never seen one!
I bought one of these new in the early 1980's. It was a neat concept and actually had enough power to pull me around as an adult, climbing some grades in the woods you wouldn't expect it to go up. Real impressive that way. Mine had a problem, though. The jackshaft drive would warm up during use, and when I would stop the moisture on it would freeze solid leaving the machine inoperable. I would ride it some distance, stop to visit someone or go inside a store, and have it freeze-up requiring someone to come pick me and the machine up for a ride home. I used it for a couple months and gave it to the local YMCA. If not for that design flaw, it would have been a good machine. It ended up being a $600 mistake. It was fun to ride, but I had to ride it from my house and back non-stop or I'd be calling for help. From my experience, it would only be good as shelf-candy as you're using it. I wouldn't pay $100 for one now. They were essentially junk, even when brand new as mine was.
it's awesome to hear from someone that used one back in the day and get the feedback of how they really worked in the real world! I totally agree with you about it being a better wall hanger and conversation piece than an actual snow machine but I've got some ideas for it before I put it back up on the shelf 🍻
@@rednecksdirtyhands I'm surprised that nobody else mentioned this problem.
@@JeffBishop_KB3QMT easy fix now days a pocket tourch............... looks like a lot of fun
My friend had one of these when it was new. I rode it a few times. It did much better on packed snow but biggest problem was starting it. It just felt cheap like a Reliant K
We just got about 16" of snow here in South Dakota. Some had more than that. Good year to own a sled.
New to channel. This was cool! I would love to see it in action. With more HPs.
Welcome aboard! I'll.see what I can do! lmao 🤣🍻
The mystery button has to be a decompression button
It is
I don't think they had much compression
@@michaelmays9292 they probably do when they are brand new. It’s similar to a chain saw engine.
Agreed. My 84 Honda Big Red had a similar decompression lever you had to engage before using the pull start otherwise it was almost impossible to pull.
I hate that a lot of these newer small engines are electric start without the option of a pull start. Something happened to my auger engine the other day and the key wouldn't turn it over. Now it was stuck in the grain bin full of wheat so I had to start it with a drill and socket. I thought it was going to rip my arm off when it fired but luckily the socket slipped off haha. I'll be watching for the website to pickup some stickers and maybe a shirt
Nice Run!!!
In new England last year there was a guy with a few of these or a similar product, they were free if I remember correctly, shoulda grabbed one 😂
That looks fun
We need to see that fixed and test drive !!!!!
In MN we have about 2.5 feet of snow, I hope you get some!
sweet! enjoy it!! 🍻
That is awesome!!
It sounds like you're an Irish Canadian. I dig it 😎. too bad those will never be of any use in Florida, that's for sure.
lol well Irish I was in Florida right now lmao 🤣🍻
They had 2 white ones for sale in the junk yard store in Peoria ill when i was a kid so $129 for a new one then and you said one guy wanted $4800 each . Quite the appreciation value on that toy .
That is way cool👍. Show us the track build and some test runs . Would like to see what you do about the motor also. Hitting the subscribe button.
thank you! 🍻
Great UA-cam you got there bud!
Thank you! 🍻
I remember the ads for those when they were new but I've only seen a couple in person. I think they were even used in a James Bond movie at the time.
cant wait for the website to be up
Those things were AWESOME !
They are!🍻
this things aged better than my brother and he was born the same year LOL
lol 🤣🍻
That cover over the track is stock . Same as the one on mine . And I have to figure out the chain/track as well .
Best line ever. When engineer's used their mind.
A friend years ago had a similar machine and he cut the sidewalls out of a mountain bike tire to make a trac when he wanted to run it in summer
These were made by Chrysler originally hoping for a military contract when that didn’t happen they were sold to the public. Cool little rig a friend of mine had one in his attic years ago but I never did see it running.
Rode a snow runner same as this one in Illinois they are fun
What kinds of snow conditions would this have operated the best. Can't think it would do well in deep fresh snow
Cool content thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! 🍻
The brake you mentioned, could it actually be the clutch to disengage the track?
Nice, now put it back up on the shelf. It's had it's day.
lol I probably should! 🍻
I've got an old sno runner but no carb, it was my wife's Uncle's. He must have picked it up at a farm sale. I thought the military looked at them but they just didn't work out.
Hey Pete, wondering if you could give me your opinion. Don’t feel obligated to answer but what do think of a used (5600 mi.) 2002 Yamaha SXR 600 triple? This would be my first sled, so do you think it’s a fairly safe bet? Thanks!
good day! it's funny ya mentioned it but I just bought a srx 600 as well!! I'll be doing a video of it soon. I mean ya can never really go wrong with buying a yamaha! especially an SRX 🍻
My dad had one and I had one , twenty years ago.
I've never seen one but what a cool unit...What about 3d printed TPU replacements for the track teeth? Also what about making a whacking up a n ultralight slightly overpowered dirty handed that'll take a bit of a knock without shitting itself?..haha and dual skis up front..still keeping the idea of collapsible/throw it in the trunk type deal.. love your work!
thanks! those are some good ideas 🍻
Happy New year 🏁🍻
Happy new year! 🍻
Bit late to this one Sunday hangover been Pittston farms rippppin brappppp love ya man Polaris
Plz reply rednecks
cheers! 🍻
I once had a snow pony , it was smaller than a regular sled but wasn't a mini, at 12-13 yrs ols ya could lift it one arm only did about 30 mph
Actually originally it was made for the military i believe,
What part of Canada are you from? Cheers from Ontario
Can't wait to order hats she dangles stickers I'd like a dirty hands wrap on my ZR 800 that Polaris XC look slick
thanks for the support! 🍻
My father bought this for me at Christmas time looking at your creation. Can you make a kit so we can recreate it. Please let me know
I’ve got one, got it and a track raid in southern Ontario
I had one of these new, was kinda fun .
Top speed was advertised as 25mph. That may have been a stretch! LOL $699 msrp, and now they are going for north of $3000! Wish I would have kept mine!
Hey Pete,
Excellent video's. I could drink a beer with you.
Hey. What's happening with the golf cart? If you can't sled. Might as well go fast on the ...
Well you get my point. Happy New Year
thank you! and we are workin on the cart and hopefully have it fired up soon! 🍻
That seats got all the padding
I've got a black 2002 Edge...that 700 looks good with the sticker kit. How can I get in touch with the guy who made it for ya?
Oh and nice job on your tiny toy this week fella🤣
