I’ve been weight training for 25 years. This guy is by far the best source of no BS content I have found in any application. Magazines, books, web, whatever. This channel is going to blow up. Anyone that is serious about gains and getting better needs to see this stuff. We need to keep sharing this channel with anyone that works out. Keep it up!!
Same here. 25+ years and I've gained more in the past 3 months of Ryan's advice then all my years combined. And i worked at a top level gym for years! Lol
This video has solved my knee pain in both knees after struggling with patellofemoral pain for YEARS. All it took was a few sessions on the leg extension machine as described in this video. I had long suspected there was a muscular imbalance causing my pain, but this video confirmed that it was a weak VMO. I've seen countless doctors, PTs, you name it. I tried strengthening my abductors, my hamstrings, my IT band, my calf muscles, and I also tried VMO exercises in the past, but they weren't effective like in this video. I've also tried foam rolling, stretching, tapings, tons of different bracings, heat therapy, PRP, yoga, deep massage, etc etc. But the simple modified leg extension in this video solved it. Studies claim that the VMO can't be isolated. While this is true, it CAN be emphasized more than the vastus lateralis which is commonly overstrengthened. Thank you!
man I hope this works for me, as soon as the gyms open I'll do that too. My pain has been killing me too for almost two years, I had to kiss goodbye to hiking, running, lifting, and so many other things I loved doing because of the damn pain. I developed patellar maltracking after arthroscopy and a bad recovery...I wouldn't wish this even to my worst enemy. This thing has cost me almost 20 pounds of muscle loss. Your comment gives me a bit of hope.
Your comment give hope !! I have an anterior external pain on my left knee since 2 years and recently diagnosed as a patella femoral problem with chondropathie. I've tried everything, only ice relieve the pain. I will try these exercices at the gym, I hope I get good result like you. Cheers !
@@LV-hf7dx Any luck? You could also look into "Kneesovertoesguy" That guy recovered from awful knee issues with similar exercises and has great advice on how to progress pain-free.
Thanks so much!!!!! Everything I got came from a physical therapy perspective for people who had weak Quads overall. Ive been dealing with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome as my Vastus Lateralis has grown notlicibly but mot so much the VMO. Tweaking my leg workout in this manner has really helped a lot.
This is gold. I've been battling itbs and knee valgus for over one year. Left the gym due to knee pain and swelling, I've been looking to going back to the gym. And I've been looking for the right exercise that won't aggravate the knee pain. I just stumbled on this. Would definitely try these out and see how it goes. The exercises are so logical and well thought for patients living with knee pain and are body builders.
You are the first person who gets it right with a channel. Thank you because for years I have listened to people tell me turn toes in to hit Vastus Medialis and it's atrophy is significant. I tried some of your exercises just with manual pressure and my Vastus Medialis was shaking! 🤩Love you!
You have to respect how real this man is the fact that he is given you the keys to a badass work out and all you have to do is get off your ass and work man that is mad respect my brother
5minutes 46sec of watching, haven't seen any of your other videos and it's your time to deserve my subscribe. I love that you're doing nothing but giving excellent advise!
I’ve got knee problems, not exactly sure the cause other than wear and tear in the military, some minor twisting injuries I tough through, and overloading squats. Resulted in tendonitis and degrading cartilage. Dialing the weight back, and doing all of these leg exercises and half reps focusing on the growth side of lifting instead of just power has really helped strengthen my knees and allowed me to continue to progress in fitness. Thanks for all the vids and advice dude, and keep it up!
Brilliant as always , no bullshit , just straight to the point , and no endless shit about how you're doing things wrong , just explains the right way to do things , that's all we need
Hey. Just discovered your channel and slowly catching up on your content. Particularly appreciate the short length of your vids which allow to fit a quick watch anytime in the day or even during my workout to check on form during rest without wasting time. And despite the short length we feel the wealth of research and expertise behind your advice. So well done, thanks and keep it up.
Lol, I freakin love your videos! The tweeks you use are things I learned years ago when training for BB comps! Raised heels, foot placement etc, EXCELLENT!
Finally a common-sense way of doing legs brother I've been looking for this video from somebody for a long time thank you thank you thank you now it's time for me to get to work
Hi Ryan, I’ve been looking for a inner quads workout proposal on YT for months without a luck. I’ve spotted your channel by accident (I mean by sophisticated YT prompt ;)) and it is absolutely 10/10. Great advices. Finally someone sensible out there.
Awesome video! Straight up information that makes sense, especially for those of us that have been training for a while! Thanks and please vids coming!
Love this channel very informative I’m a hip disarticulation amputee and his tips have helped me with a range of issues in muscle imbalance and correction.
I really enjoy all your videos. Straight to the point, no BS, good advice. Thank you. I’ve incorporated many of your suggestions into my workouts and have seen results.
My outer quad dominates my legs giving them a good sweep, making my teardrops look weak and no where near as pronounced. I’m gonna try these feet placement techniques to see if I can bring them up!
Nice. Worked. I’ve shied away from the leg press as a “crutch” machine. Tried his method and for the first time, only my VM burned working out legs. It’s a crazy good feeling to finally hit it directly.
Little late too the sun list don’t know where I’ve been lol but this is great, straight to the point, solid easy to take in advice. Just earned me as a subscriber!
I love this. I like to use a different angle and foot position on every set I do. I was never really sure how effective it was, but it seemed to make sense to me that little tweeks would stimulate slightly different areas across the muscle.
Hey Ryan, big thumbs up. Your content is some of the best no nonsence advice I've ever seen and you give it away for free. The dumbbell sissy squat shown here hits my VMO like nothing else. Did 4 bodyweight sets yesterday, wow! Sore doesn't begin to cover how my legs feel today. Never thought I'd appreciate DOMS so much 😩. Thanks mate
This was a great upper level training video. Also, the guy’s voice was easy on you instead of yelling the entire time like some “Fitness Guru’s”. You can tell this guy knows in detail how to explain a movement.
This is so wild. I'm not a noob, years and years in the gym. Took a couple years off, and just trying to re-educate myself, as always. The form on the leg raises lights up my outside quad. I have overpowered outside quad from the time off. I found that I can really light up interior with knees close, feet wide, toes out and curled up. Moght just be an over powered outer quad situation.
Going back through some of your older videos… you started off more polite… Glad you switched to more ignorance, it’s what brings me back for more! Great training advice though, as always quality instruction!
Good video. I was turning my feet the wrong way trying to hit the outer quad. Luckily the one legged lunges took care of the quad. Your videos have helped me immensely.
Man I broke my tib and fib and havnt been able to get that vm to fire. Using your tip of wide knees toes and heels I finally got it to fire. Will keep at it. Need to focus hard
Another helpful video. I'm trying to learn to push with the heels when I train legs. I train legs at home with dumbbells and bodyweight. Pushing with the heel at the top of a movement to get a peak contraction on the quads is challenging for me, I''ll continue to practice...LOL.
No ads. No bull. No showing off. Pure advice. Thanks man, love from NZ subbed!
But I like to "show off". 😕
