Saw it yesterday in the sneak preview and honestly, the trailor is not even showing the horror that you guys can expect. After seeing this movie I found myself completely at the loss of words und utterly disturbed. I do recommend it, it's genious and horror
The film fulfilled its social function: to make society aware that this search for eternal youth is an illness and leads to nothing. We need to be natural, take care of our health, take care of the environment, have true friends, etc. Life is nothing more than a short film.
The crazy thing is it honestly made me consider if I would do something like this when I am older, even with how crazy the procedure is hahaha. You definitely have to be crazy disciplined and the logistics of maintaining work / relationships is insane. But maybe doable? What a crazy dilemma and an insane idea for a movie.
For me personally, this movie was a great eye-opener in self-love and acceptance. I know most people might watch it for the gore, but for me, it was about the internal conflict that everyone experiences throughout their life journey as they get older.
I completely agree. She lived only to please everyone around her. It was easy when she was young and beautiful. The meaning of the film is that you need to take care not only of your appearance, but of your inner world. We do not have to please everyone, but it is important to have close people around us who will consider us beautiful despite our external beauty.
The movie is not for the faint of heart, but it is brilliant, and it perfectly reflects the realities of our life today-everyone's obsession with beauty, the idealization and selling of oneself and one's body. The film deserves the highest praise, and Demi Moore's performance is fantastic. Not every actress would agree to such a role, but she is remarkable.

That was the worst movie I've ever seen biggest waste of time on earth. I'd watch paint dry before I ever watched that piece of shit film again. No plot no twist no unexpected shock just bullshit.
I took my first dose of THE SUBSTANCE less than 24 hours ago and I still cant stop thinking about its confidence, its performances, how it managed to be unlike anything I’ve ever seen. With no disrespect to Moore’s career, I am floored with how ferociously ballsy this part was and how she pulled it off. Qualley moves like an animatronic from the year 3000. And Quaid….are you kidding me? What a part to take! All done in a fantasy edit I can’t even compute how it unfolded the way it did. This is a diamond. A rough ass diamond.
Honest to god, i’m not the one to usually comment under videos. BUT: This is one the most disturbing movies I have seen. I wasnt expecting anything, I’ve just seen the release on a piracy-website, felt like going to the movies, saw the poster for the movie and went. I dont even know what category or genre I can put this into. At first, up until the middle, I thought it was a psychological-thriller, suddenly it became really sick & disturbing. Pleaseeee WATCH IT YALL. I genuinely think this movie changed me in some way
I came from seeing this movie and I must say that I was stunned, I am still in complete shock, it is a masterpiece, I have never been so uncomfortable with a movie at such a moment that I said stop this. It is art in all its splendor.
Just out of a late night showing and wow. Craziest most fucked up film I've seen in years. Incredible performance from Moore. I'm really surprised there were no walkouts in my screening.
Just watched this and oh my actual god! Absolutely masterpiece of a film. Pure cinematic art! But oh my god, I have no words for what I’ve just seen. I recommend not eating during it.
This movie is bloody insane, a real psychotic trip. Demi Moore sets the screen on fire in this wild performance. Velvet Buzzsaw meets The Perfection. Probably the best horror film of 2024.
An amazing depiction of the psychotic, disturbing horror that is an eating disorder. The self-hatred, emptiness, pursuit of love in the form of external validation, the abhorrence of the human condition, and the claustrophobia of the unholy pact you make with it. The deathly realization that you cannot have it all and will lose it all if you don't accept your humanity. Brilliant movie.
Omg?? Lost for words. Hands down best movie of the year. I don’t know if I should cry, laugh or be scared. This was NOT what I was expecting. And, can we please bring Demi Moore in more movies to come? 10/10
This was straight bananas, loved every minute, Demi Moore freakin killed it and the other actress was fine af...one of the best most unexpected horror movies this year!!!
There were people that walked out, they were that bothered by it. For the rest of us that stayed, and it was mostly women,we complemented each other. We all said various things to each other, like don't change, I love your gray hair, you are beautiful. We all left that movie with a new sense of pride. If this is a tale of being careful what you wish for, this is it. Demi Moore is basically a psychobiddy for the gen x set.
The trailer doesn't make it any justice. This movie is F-U-C-K-E-D-U-P and I loved it. Man I've watched horror movies before, but never remember feeling so disturbed and uncomfortable as I did with this one. Must watch for sure, the plot is awesome, makes you wonder what's coming next every minute. And just when you think it couldn't get worse (in a good way), it freaking does!!! Also the sound effects and music with this one are so ON point. I don't like horror films, but hands down this one has to be one of the best, if not the best I've ever watched.

One of the best films I have ever seen. Yes it’s scary but it’s even more scary how much u can relate to her. There’s so much to take from it. How superficial society is. How we consider unimportant things as the important, how we need to learn to love ourselves and be true to ourselves and the ones that love us. They kept saying over and over “ all by YOURSELF??? ARE YOU SURE?????! And yes it’s supposed to be scary because life is. And you have to believe you came into this world with nothing u will die with nothing. All u have is ur life so be real to urself and learn to be happy, only than will anything matter. Love yourself
The film is more than its gore theme. My personal takeaway is that it gives us a lesson of how we should embrace the different versions of ourselves, youth and old. I guess it addresses the rampancy of plastic surgery nowadays and how people can never get satisfaction out from it which leads to total addiction, and therefore gets completely lost from themselves at the end. It's an eye opener. I find the ending sad..
For me this movie was brilliant. Its the new Frankenstein of our societe that show exactly our society and the expectation to be forever young and beautiful.

I wasn't prepared. I wasn't prepared. I wasn't prepared. I wasn't prepared. I wasn't prepared.
So I just got back from a mystery horror film screening and this is the movie they played. I’d never heard of it or seen anything of it. I gotta say this was disturbing disgusting and funny, some parts of it made me squirm but wow definitely stay with me for a while. Demi Moore looks amazing!!!
People who said this movie is trash are usually the ones who think Deadpool/Wolverine is a masterpiece… THIS is really a masterpiece!
Omg facts!
I liked both😅
Just a recommendation, you should also watch A24's Men
@@utkarshgupta2943 Thanks man! I’ll definitely check it out. Btw I didn’t like Deadpool/Wolverine haha (not a big plot at all).
@@Jeffreemedrano No worries man! I grew up watching a lot of Marvel and DC animation so a superhero team up live action movie is something special to me.
Just finished the movie. How do i move on from here i can't believe i watched till the end.
Just saw this and it’s probably of the most unhinged things I’ve experienced this year. I’m from nyc- that’s saying a lot
It doesn't say anything...
iM fRoM nYc
That was the worst movie I've ever seen biggest waste of time on earth. I'd watch paint dry before I ever watched that piece of shit film again. No plot no twist no unexpected shock just bullshit.
@derrickjohnson9692
That's cause u probably cream over worthless 25 cent Amazon movies as you're the only one on this entire post ragging on it
@@derrickjohnson9692then don't watch it again and let people enjoy the movie 🙂
Who needs therapy after this? Lol I do!😂😂😂
I had to take a lexapro after lol
Lmao I couldn't sleep well after watching it
@@abigailisvirtual3358 I’m still thinking about it 2 days later lol
Me! Almost called the cops in the theater to stop the film lmao
In the last part I was laughing crazy asf😂
I took my first dose of THE SUBSTANCE less than 24 hours ago and I still cant stop thinking about its confidence, its performances, how it managed to be unlike anything I’ve ever seen. With no disrespect to Moore’s career, I am floored with how ferociously ballsy this part was and how she pulled it off. Qualley moves like an animatronic from the year 3000. And Quaid….are you kidding me? What a part to take! All done in a fantasy edit I can’t even compute how it unfolded the way it did. This is a diamond. A rough ass diamond.
I watched it, all I have to say is at the end I was totally shocked and wasn't expecting that at all
Honest to god, i’m not the one to usually comment under videos. I genuinely think this movie changed me in some way
I’m traumatized guys, totally forgot about my divorce. This movie is unreal 😂
I came from seeing this movie and I must say that I was stunned, I am still in complete shock, it is a masterpiece, I have never been so uncomfortable with a movie at such a moment that I said stop this. It is art in all its splendor.
Hadn’t heard of this movie until today, but now I’m stoked af to see it.
Don’t, watched it today. Dont

You HAVE to see this in theatres. This is literally an emotional rollercoaster. Just go!!
Just out of a late night showing and wow. Craziest most fucked up film I've seen in years. Incredible performance from Moore. I'm really surprised there were no walkouts in my screening.
Why would a blob of goo make people freak out ?
When that Ozempic hits different😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just watched this and oh my actual god! Absolutely masterpiece of a film. Pure cinematic art! But oh my god, I have no words for what I’ve just seen. I recommend not eating during it.
I think only one of them can be conscious at a time, I think the younger version doesn’t want to share the time anymore. Looks amazing.
“Women, just be happy with yourselves and who you are” the movie
And it's true, fuck beauty standards, fuck fillers and bbls, embrace natural beauty.
bro exactly 😂
😂😂
So happy I didn’t watch the trailer and just dove in and watched it ! Actually was glued the ENTIRE time ! So good!
This movie is bloody insane, a real psychotic trip. Demi Moore sets the screen on fire in this wild performance. Velvet Buzzsaw meets The Perfection. Probably the best horror film of 2024.
Just saw it tonight it's probably the most graphic movie of the year one spoiler be careful what you wish for...
That's the most random genius movie I've seen in a long time. It's been over 10 days now still can't get over it 😍
This is probably one of the movies that made me on the edge 🤯
I watched this film yesterday and have sinced watched this trailer so many times because I want to relive this movie again. O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G
omg! 🤭 saaame. i haven’t enjoyed a film like this in a very long time
Watched this movie on my period and it literally was an out of body experience. I wasn’t scared but more so haunted by it entirely.
Who else got Requiem For A Dream vibes. Looks interesting
💯
Many film-maker homages in this film- Aronofsky just tip-of-iceberg.
Just finished watching this and I got the same vibe.
Ok you're the third person today that I heard say that and I couldn't agree more it's like requiem for beautiful addiction essentially
I have that feeling… plus Black mirror and irreversible
1000%, yet somehow this one was still less grotesque
The best movie Ive seen in years!
Plenty of Kubrick references and great practical effects. Loved it and Demi was gorgeous ❤
Omg?? Lost for words. Hands down best movie of the year. I don’t know if I should cry, laugh or be scared. This was NOT what I was expecting. And, can we please bring Demi Moore in more movies to come? 10/10
A minute's silence for the soundtrack. What a BANGER.
I went in that theater expecting nothing and came out absolutely shocked. It's one of the most disgusting and amazing things I've ever seen.
This movie will last for decades!
I've watched this yesterday knowing nothing and boy, oh, boy...did I not expect this brilliant body horror. It's next level, believe me
This was straight bananas, loved every minute, Demi Moore freakin killed it and the other actress was fine af...one of the best most unexpected horror movies this year!!!
Got a flashback of Death Becomes Her
Probably a less funny version
And The Nutty Professor….
Mixed with the Neon Demon
@@osmanyousif7849WTF I love that movie. Is it true, this movie is like that
I thought the same. Death Becomes Her (horror version)
This movie just realised me that whatever you have just accept yourself and live happy life
seen it twice already, it changed my life.
Funny reference lol
@@natethegreat9385 lol
Where
You need help
Why this changed your life?
Am I the only one who thinks Demi looks more attractive than the other woman? Lmao
No, you are not the only one
Demi is classy❤
Demi the best
Yes
Yes, that's absurd. Objectively.
Wholesome movie for the whole family
😂
😂😂😂
Yes the grandkids will love it 😂😂👍
Incredible movie,an assault on the senses and truly unforgettable.
Must be movie of the Year
I love how this movie actually shows what it's like to be so hateful towards yourself. It's AMAZING. It's disgusting. I love it.
I’m in my late 20’s and when I do castings I feel like Elisabeth, seeing all the young models and at my age you are vintage, you should’ve been successful already. That’s why I don’t go out, don’t drink and do a lot of skincare. I feel so scared of aging, and feels like I’m already halfway. You guys in the comments are not alone. I hope we all get better
Enjoy Life Sweetie 👸🏼 it goes too fast. The 30s are Awesoooome 🥳 Enjoy them. Each season has its gifts & blessings. I hope that when you get older & turned back, you'll have a Huge Smile & be Grateful for a Life well lived 💜
Watched last night and dude!!!! Didn't expect this at all!! Completely disturbing at the end. Crazy because she could've done anything with the reputation she had and chose to do something irreversible! Ughhh I love Demi Moore and the other actress is gorgeous as well!
Just saw this at screen unseen - left disturbed, speechless and absolutely thrilled, one of the best horror movies I have ever seen. Phenomenal
We normally love screen unseen, we didn’t today….
Yes same here, I laughed at the funny parts and laughed out of pure shock to the absolute madness of it all 😂
I'm still processing it. There was absolute silence at my screen when it was over!
@@Thatpapertiger some bastard at our cinema laughed during the ear scene, I’m worried for them

This film needs to be seen at a theater! I regret streaming it and getting interruptions.
All I can say is: it's amazing!
You are not prepared for what this movie is!!!
I really hope we'll get a part2😍
We deserve the origin of the providers 😍
I hope it to.
The origin is probably some famous UA-camr with millions of subscribers and they did this as a 'prank' to see who would take the bait
This movie kicked ass. I got like infected by it, it's just so unique. You're not ready for the shit this movie does. Soundtrack is killer too.
One of the best films ever made. Gratuity manifest.
This was my movie of the year hands down
Death Becomes Her meets The Fly is one way I describe this movie to a friend. It’s was a treat for sure.
And The Rejuvenator (1988)
@@rubenazul7421 I’ll have to check it out, it’s actually here on UA-cam.
I saw an early show. Not many people there.
I need to see it again in a packed theatre.
Soooooo gooooood!
For me this movie was brilliant. Its the new Frankenstein of our societe that show exactly our society and the expectation to be forever young and beautiful.
I'm excited to see Demi Moore again. This is gonna be good😊
Yo, if this is your first introduction to Coralie Fargeat, I can't recommend her previous film Revenge enough. God, I love this woman's "vibes"
Same Revenge was stellar
