    Hello Top Tier Ticker,
Brian here from Panther Watch Co. I am sorry that you feel you over paid for your watch. The link you found was an old link from a few years ago. The current price for the watch is 250 GBP.
It's a great price for a very solid watch with top end specs. The original run was 100 pieces. There are now only 6 pieces remaining. I thought I might move the last of them at the show to pay towards travel expenses etc.
I wish you had simply come to talk with me about any concerns, I would have happily given you the difference in price on the spot. That offer still stands as I would hate to think you feel you have not had a great deal. I am a watch enthusiast myself and created the watches to scratch that itch of making my own watch. If you prefer to return the watch, I am more than happy to send you a refund.
I can assure you no scam was intended and I stand by the quality of the watch you bought.
I will email you via your website so you can let me know if you would like the difference or a full refund.
    Kind regards
    Brian

      Hello Brian,
I don't feel like I overpaid for the watch, the watch was worth £250 at the POS. It was a bit funny that the watch was on sale at an 'event special price', even though you were selling it for cheaper online.
The 'scammed' feelings come through the tactics you used to sell the watch to me. You mentioned that 'Max Van Brauge' had a hand in the making of these watches, but I don't believe that to be true. I believe that these watches are a little side project by yourself, which is completely fine. And if that was told to me when buying the watch, I absolutely would've still purchased the watch and none of this would've happened. I actually would've thought that was even cooler.
The watch itself is actually fairly decent, and the case is super nice. It's just a shame the way you went about selling them.
As for the money, keep it for your travel expenses.
The eBay listing still shows that you have 20 available for sale, even though you have bumped up the price to £250 now. So I'd advise changing your stock levels on the listing to avoid any more future disappointment.
      Best,
      Kieron

Authorized dealers are more of a scam. A Blancpain AD wanted $9500 for Bathyscape on NATO, got the same watch on Jomashop 2 months ago for $7100. Also Got a new Omega Denim Railmaster on Joma for $2800. Both original boxes, paperwork. I don’t recommend NATO on Bathyscape as lugs don’t turn down. Also Blancpain uses pressure pins instead of regular pins, Blancpain pins require special tools to change as I broke end of one pin trying to remove and partially embedded inside watch. But quick release pins still work fine.

I'm sorry but this was in no way a scam. You just fell for the age-old sales technique that EVERY company has used at one time or another. Make something seem more attractive by saying it's limited and time is of the essence. Everyone from Tesco to Tudor does it. It might be misleading but it's not illegal. He didn't give you an empty box on a bag - you got the watch you saw. You didn't buy it because it was limited, you bought it because you liked the look of it. Scammers are people who phone up old people and get them to transfer their pensions to a 'more lucrative' scheme and then run off with the money. Sounds to me like you are trying to cover up your naivety by pouring scorn on a salesman. Call yourself a watch dealer? I think you need to learn a few lessons about business, marketing, sales and getting a proper VAT receipt because that scribbled not will never be accepted by HMRC!

    • @matthewgooch6892

And just to add more to this, on your website you advertise a Fortis watch from the 80s that you market as something for the collector that is "completely unique that NO ONE else will have.". How do you know this for sure? How rare is this, can you say there are only 5, 50, 500 or 5000 of these left? I don't think you can, so aren't you equally at fault of 'creative marketing' in the same way the seller at the show was?

He's a retailer so he doubled the price to cover his overheads just like any high street jeweller does. You were a mug for falling for the sales BS but you weren't scammed. I've worked county fair ground shows in a couple of states. Don't go to a show thinking the pricing overall will be cheaper than other outlets. Vendors/retailers at the show have a high overhead cost making discounts rather unlikely. Deals could be had on used and bulk purchases at times.
Other times the product is unique/new, the product is sold to jobbers/salesmen initially because it's the cheapest means of distribution. Later, depending on results, the product is advertised nationally, this exposure is important to resellers and end consumers. The product has to be sold to the resellers first before the end consumer. A successful product becomes widely available and eventually sales at many retailers at a substantially lower price than the show because like many a product, volume has everything to do with unit pricing.
I would imagine most products fail. Such a product will likely be dumped onto the market by a limited number of resellers, depending on volume available.
Possibly, the watch purchased falls within the realm somewhere as described.

Scammed? People overpay all the time, just have a look in the high street or the premium watch brands, customers buy the story and the watch, just as you did. I think you got what you payed for.

I recommend that you remove the caseback and inspect the movement and test the glass to see if it is indeed sapphire. Unfortunately, knockoffs make buying on the street or at a show, very risky, especially if you have no knowledge of the brand but frankly, even if it's branded with a top tier brand!

Not a scam... Is it a scam that you posted this video stating you got scammed and i cant have my time back? Nope. You bought into a story and a narrative. The watch was a trinket to commemorate the event. It's just the same as buying those cheap boxes or decorative coconut shells on a tropic vacation. It's not a scam if you decide to overpay.

So you work in the watch industry and the first time away from home on business, you buy a watch you’ve never heard of, pay compliantly in cash , then get cold feet. He may be the dealer off eBay who’s gone to the show and inflated his prices because it’s in London. Scammed ? No ! Getting scammed isn’t paying £250 for a £200 EBay watch. You’ve been very naive and perhaps taken for a mug, take it on the chin and learn from it
