Great video. As a foreigner living in China (and watch fan of course!) I'm glad to see you put the factory work out into the world in public. It's always sad to see so many comments about Chinese manufacturing and insinuations of exploitation when there's people here working hard to produce good products and just make a living. Also, the entire microbrand industry relies on factories similar to these and it's always seemed to me a bit of a weird aspect of the industry that no one openly talks about the actual manufacturing - so thank you for putting it out there! Of course, it only increases the trust in the brand as well :)
I mean, there's definitely exploitation happening in China, but it's not just a China problem and that fact shouldn't be seen as a cudgel to denigrate good quality workmanship and professionalism that is as present in China as anywhere else.
I too dislike the hate towards Chinese manufacturing. I buy archery, fishing, watches, clothes and other products from china every month on average and im very pleased with what I get. I think some people are a bit etnocentric and in my country it is the norm in general, unfortunately.

The wiring and attention to detail on those is just so much better than anything I've ever seen produced here in our factory.
Jody, I think it’s great that you showed this business and the professionals that work in it in a suitably favorable light. So many times “Chinese” has meant low quality, and it’s nice to see professional people making a good product
I think this does a lot to further the image of professionalism in Chinese watch making that is it’s due. Can’t wait for my purple to Origin to get here!
Mate after all your efforts and continued endless enthusiasm (esp after the whole channel being taken down a couple of years ago) you whole heartedly deserve this
In three years time I expect no less than Mrs. JOMW to drop you off at the airport in her Aston Martin DBX to take the Erebus Corporate Jet to Honk Kong! Not that I had any doubts I would receive the watch, but this makes it so much more real. 👍🏼
Great to see the care going into these watches. I agree about the widespread dismissal of NH3* movement Chinese watches. I read lots of comments saying "I wouldn't trust a Chinese watch in the washing up bowl, let alone on a dive", so I took 4 Steeldive sub-£100 watches diving and they all worked flawlessly. They all delivered sub 10s/d accuracy as well, which is more than you can sometimes say for far more expensive watches. Detractors, of course, will say I got lucky, but if nothing else, it proves that they're not all junk as many would have you believe. No matter what you think of the Chinese regime (and I'm no fan), Chinese factories can produce quality goods at excellent prices. I wish you all the best with the launch of the Origin and will watch future releases with great interest.
Fantastic work paring that visit to a 10-minute video! Did you have a plan going in knowing that you wanted to film a video? That’s great that your factory partners are willing to work with you in that way as well!
Coming from Hong Kong, I am super impressed by the factory set up and feel that my Erebus Origin is worth so much more with all the TLC.. Kudos to the team for putting this together! ❤❤❤
I don’t know how I missed this video and I am looking very forward to receiving my Jody watch! I’m flabbergasted I just tell professional this process is. Not at all what I would’ve expected.. I guess the most unexpected thing was the fact that they adjust the NH movement…. And not just in one position, but four!?!? And they pressure test it?! Wow… Just wow.
I am utterly surprised and impressed with the amount of efforts and resources the factory folks have put into making these watches. Thanks for the factory tour. It was certainly an eye-opening experience for me.
Yeah, a country that hires proffesionals to do a job. Im surprised most are surprised and many have misconceptions about China. Had your watch been made here in New Orleans, we would all be very cautious about quality control. Im glad yall took the time to us around. Saving up for an Erebus. TY
That was a real treat and a lot of fun to watch. It's the first time I have seen the place where one of my watches was or will be assembled. The factory exuded a lot of professionalism. Can't wait to have the watch on my wrist. Good luck with the next models, too!
Very cool video! The factory was indeed more clean and advanced than I would have thought. However, I would have loved to see where the actual parts are machined. Do they come from a variety of different places? Do you know how clean and controlled those environments are?
The most important part was them checking the articulation of every link and each individual screw. Great video. I hope Erebus becomes available from EU sales, too.
And it only makes sense when the bracelet production itself is up there with its tolerances. I have a few China specials, and the bracelets may look and feel great..until the watch just falls of the wrist, or the clasp won't open again. Self unscrewing looseners.
Very impressive assembly and QC! Do they also manufacture the components at that location? Would love to see some molten steel being poured into moulds to make the cases or how the polishing is done. Or how the dials are made.
Suspect there are different part makers ie dials made one factory, case in another and bezel in another . All brought to assembly factory. This is how the likes of Christopher Ward do it apart from they use Swiss suppliers.
This os incredibly impressive. I didnt think the quality whould be this stellar. Looking forward to see my blue one arrive. Loving to see the insides of a facility like this, and the fact that my watch will be made here is amazing.
Very impressed Jody. Yes it does feel one with confidence especially seeing the regulation, the dial alignment process and the two stage water testing. Congratulations and what a way to celebrate, you could have bought another something but chose to take us on a journey with you. Thanks for the video I really enjoyed seeing what inside a Hong Kong manufacturer is like but most of all enjoyed your smile, you look so happy it is a joy to see.
I think a lot of people think the same. I have bought a lot of watches over the years but I have never seen them being made and the actual production line, amazing thank you.

I received my new Erebus in white and it look fantastic. Unfortunately, the bracelet is not great. I love the adjustable clasp, but the inner edges are too sharp. By the end of the day my wrist is sore. Also, that the bracelet is light and thin doesn’t help considering the heft of the watch head. Especially true if you wear your watch a little loose. Maybe it’s different on the flat link bracelets. I have the curved. I switched it to the Erebus FMK strap and it’s a pleasure to wear.
Brilliant video, Jody. I grinned the whole way through and am glad you and Mr P enjoyed your wolly (work jolly). I can't wait to receive my 3(!) Erebus watches in 2024. Seeing the manufacturing process makes my purchases feel even more special; so thank you for that. I hope you and your family have a great Christmas.

Interesting video and I’m glad the factory is working out so well for you. And no, I have no experience with watch assembly, but I thought reviewing the build process and quality control functions is something you would do prior to offering the product for sale? Cool to see the production process but was wondering how long it took from first to final assembly! From parts bin to the final packaging ready to post?

I was anticipating this video the most this year after Jody mentioned it coming up. I am thoroughly satisfied. 😊 These watches are great looking. The white dial is my favourite for at a glance legibility and discreetness. I thought it was going to be a full lume dial when I saw it on the reveal video. If it was I would be eagerly awaiting its arrival next year. Hopefully a full dial lume version will be available.
Thanks for dropping this video Jody. I’m now more anxious than ever to receive my Erebus, perhaps in February? Your video, combined with some of the great Ali Express brands featured on your channel, does make one stop and reconsider the Made in China moniker. 😊
Just adds to the hype, I guess. At least they had stuff in the display cabinets. I remember a few years ago going into a Roelx store in Sydney and the assistant was letting people try on his 41mm DJ because they had no stock. Shameful situation for all concerned!
@leonidaslantz5249 more accurate? Maybe if it's well regulated. My dad's Rolex gains about a second a day. None of my Miyotas run that well. Only my Omega Seamaster gets anywhere close. Hate on Rolex for the games their ADs play or their price, but don't act like they don't make a phenomenal watch
@@leonidaslantz5249 Not a big fan of Rolex because of the well known availability issues and lame designs. Apart from that i'm pretty sure they can regulate their watches to be at least as precise as a Miyota9015 driven piece.
Hesitated at the initial release (??)….as a professional bike mechanic and business owner (Jody is a cyclist too) the technician adjusting the regulation struck a chord….its like building a wheel to within fractions of a mm …satisfying and a pride in your work ….im sold …take my money….
Great to see the launch off to such a great start and, for someone who has purchased an Origin, I appreciate all the production background… I frankly have not seen this with other Microbrands. 👍
For a moment I regretted only ordering one Origin, but knowing you have solid plans for more models I am excited to have held back some funds. Bring them on.
Great video, Jody! To get to see the watches being so meticulously assembled and tested was inspiring. Knowing my watch is being handled with such care and craftsmanship means I’m all the more excited for delivery. Come on March!
Very impressive, Jody. Transparency like this will go a long way for Erebus. The more transparent you are, the larger the following will be in time. Best of luck!
Fantastic to see what goes on behind the scenes with your watches in production. They look great and very diligently put together. All the best to you and Steven 👍
Hey Jody, just received my Origin and I’m loving it!!! I cannot begin to tell you and Mr. P how much you knocked this one out of the park. This is going to be one watch that will be hard to take off. Thank you both for making this!!!
I've not ordered an origin, but I will keep looking at new releases. I'm sure this presentation must give all of us so much confidence. Thanks so much. 😊
Fantastic video Jody. I haven't ordered my Eribus yet but when i do it will be with confidence of a quality watch. San Martin and others should pay to send you to their factories as well. Would be great to see how other budget watches get made. Again great video Jody!
Really impressed Jody, that is a great factory, I'm sure they are well up with the Swiss on many levels and but at great prices, I'm really up for a black Erebus. Well done, Im so chuffed for you.
Are you making a video on the bracelet still, wasn’t you getting some more sent to you because the current curved H-link ones tolerances were to tight?
Very exciting to see the watches coming together, great video! I've been doing a bit of wishing I'd gone with the yellow dial but seeing the tray of reds, I'm pleased with my choice. Black has always been my go-to so the red will be a real stand out.
Very fun video- thanks for sharing what a real Chinese watch factory looks like on the inside. You’ve shown us how the horological sausage gets made in Shenzhen. Very cool.
So great to see recordings outside the studio, and very good to see factory tours as well. Keep them coming! And happy holidays from dark and rainy Denmark.
Really interesting to see this. I love Hong Kong. What's interesting is that room does look a little small to handle the type of scale that Erebus is shipping at. How do you have confidence that you have seen the actual location of manufacture or... maybe I am wrong and they can go through significant numbers with shifts etc...
Indeed that looked like exceedingly experienced professionals at work in a highly optimized small series production facility. I bet the parts production was too secret an operation? Only the pressure testing table seemed out of place. Perhaps it's just a Hong Kong thing, but it looked a bit like a visit-specifc setup. Can imagine they normally do it on a more dedicated taller bench for more units at a time.
Great video! I appreciate the opportunity to see the assembly process on a watch that I had the opportunity to purchase. I look forward to the delivery date😊

Just adds to the hype, I guess. At least they had stuff in the display cabinets. I remember a few years ago going into a Roelx store in Sydney and the assistant was letting people try on his 41mm DJ because they had no stock. Shameful situation for all concerned!
There are business travelers that fly so often that they can get to know the staff and get put on the list for a model. Just like a regular store
Rolex , a watch to show others how rich you are........yet a watch with a Myiota 9015 is more accurate. 👌
Thanks for taking us along. As if I was not already stoked to receive mine!!
Hesitated at the initial release (??)….as a professional bike mechanic and business owner (Jody is a cyclist too) the technician adjusting the regulation struck a chord….its like building a wheel to within fractions of a mm …satisfying and a pride in your work ….im sold …take my money….
Very impressive. I didn't push the button on an 'Origin', but I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next.
What a brilliant and enlightening video. So insightful and comforting to know the quality and processes behind Erebus watches. Thanks Lads.
Very impressive, Jody. Transparency like this will go a long way for Erebus. The more transparent you are, the larger the following will be in time. Best of luck!
Fantastic to see what goes on behind the scenes with your watches in production. They look great and very diligently put together. All the best to you and Steven 👍
Very pleased to see the quality control going into these watches. Can't wait to receive my teal in March!
I've seen san Martin factory tour and well... Seems Jody had just been there 😂
Incredibly informative and enlightening from a trusted source. Blows always my incorrect perception of many things. Well done sir! Keep smiling!
Honestly, this is brilliant marketing. Genuinely makes me feel more confident in buying an Erebus watch.
Very cool, not what I expected at all when you hear/think about a Chinese factory
Me neither. At all!
This looks extremely similar to the San Martin walk through video. Are you able to release this info of your OEM?
Very exciting to see the watches coming together, great video! I've been doing a bit of wishing I'd gone with the yellow dial but seeing the tray of reds, I'm pleased with my choice. Black has always been my go-to so the red will be a real stand out.
This is the kind of content I've been waiting to see for years as a watch enthusiast and a lover of microbrands! Thank you for this video!
Great to see QC seems to be in order. I cringed when those black dials fell on top of each other, though! Great looking watch!
Once again proving that China can make some very great products. Excellent choice in manufacturing and I’m very happy for your watch making success!
Would love to see an Erebus tee shirt with “You’re not on holiday until you’ve been on a boat “!!!
There will be an Erebus watch in my near future. Great to see how well this is going... keep up the good work!!!
Super cool video! Thanks for sharing Jody. Now, hurry up and show us the next Erebus model.
Fantastic. Thanks for taking us along.
Really interesting to see this. I love Hong Kong. What's interesting is that room does look a little small to handle the type of scale that Erebus is shipping at. How do you have confidence that you have seen the actual location of manufacture or... maybe I am wrong and they can go through significant numbers with shifts etc...
Wow I’m impressed. They’re not fucking around! And it’s not a sweat shop! 😊
Bravo Erebus Team!! 👏🏼😁
I truly hope you have continued success for many, many years to come.
You're off to a good start anyways!
Thanks for the tour.
So happy for you mate!! Continue living your dream and thank you for sharing it!!!
I’m impressed! Looking forward to see your reviews on the new piece. Congratulations!
Does the same factory manufacture all the parts? It looked like just assembly of finished components.
