I have heard it said that Belobog and Chernobog were never actually worshipped by the slavic people and were instead later inventions. I know, Slavic mythology is complicated and not unified. But are there any actual indictors that these gods were really worshipped in Slavic cultures?
It's possible that these names were local names for Perun (Belbog) and Veles (Chernobog), but since slavic faith was first described by early christians, they didn't thought the names were related, or didn't care much, but if it's true that chernobog is Veles/Volos/Velenas, that means that he wasn't considered a evil/devilish deity, he was more of a trickster, like loki, and it was very much worshipped like any god.
