I like the part he smiles as he plays. It's easy to tell he's enjoying his playing!
The only way to play music.
BASS FACE 👌😊🎸🎶
The part? It’s the whole vid!
His great.
Nah every Instagram musician makes that stupid face when they’re playing. It’s deliberate
4 strings is still king 🔥
Facts
6 string Djent 🤘
Prefer 5 strings; 4 strings are too little and 6 is way too much for me
This dude could make ONE string sing
Man all the guys i see in person that are killers are on the 6+ string basses 😭 they're all playing thundercat style neo soul/funk stuff that blows my mind lol
Dude I watched this like 12 times the part where he's playing a chord and lead at the same time. Boom that was it.
Wait a second, update, he's playing the second chord using one finger and playing notes with the others. Fantastic.
Me too yo . . that was ill
@Vermilion Pill cheesy riff!?
Man that was it for me 🔥🔥🔥
I was going to say the same thing, made me wanna grab my MPC and chop that Premier style. Lol
His smile just adds to his groove.
Also the most funkiest bass face
That's exactly what my first thought was! 🤣
Thank you
Can't compare to Este Hiams
BASS FACE. ❤
Love this comment! He truly enjoys what he does and that’s all that matters! ❤
The way hes able to change the tone of the notes is truly mesmerizing
His technique is great! Muting the 4th string with his right hand gives it that thumping sound. On the last run he didn't do that and the note rang out "BOOM" that was it!
Hand placement, attack, left hand and right hand muting, dead notes, how hard you fret the notes. All very subtle things that doing well take a good bass player to a great bass player.
my father has played bass over 50 years...he still gigs in his 70s...I grew up hearing him playing bass at the apartment in New york city while I was in my mother's womb...your love of an instrument that not only is my favorite instrument , but also holds such strong nostalgia for me is awesome...you are slaying it
Yes. I agree...Bass played by me
since 1979...
Garbage 🗑️
OMG! I LOVE this story!!! My dad played the drums since he was a little boy. Played at different things until he got into a band when he was 23 that had gigs at a bar in our hometown called The Houndshead, you could probably call it their hub. And because he played the drums and they aren’t a mobile as guitars, basses, and keyboards, they practiced in my basement during the week, then packed his kit up on Friday afternoons to play all weekend at the pub. They were called ‘Homespun’ and on their flyers it said ‘A little bit of Country, and a LOT of Rock ‘n Roll’. Now I came into the picture a little earlier than my parents expected, 😊, so I was 4 years old when he was 23 and I’d be down in the cellar dancing like crazy when they’d practice. All the guys in the band were my adopted uncles. They would say no matter what gig they had, at the bar, a wedding, a bday party, I was their favorite audience. 🤗🥰 The one thing I will always cherish is before the guys came over, my dad and I would go down and uncover his drums, then he’d sit down on his stool, pat his lap, I’d go running over and he’d lift me up and play ‘Wipe Out’. I laughed so hard because with how fast you have to play that, I’d get bounced around on his lap by his arms flaying and his foot hitting his bass drum. 😂😂 Now I’m 50 years old and as I’m typing this, it’s bringing me back to that time. I gotta call him after I hit the post button. 🥰 Thank you for sharing your story, my fellow child of a band member! ☺️
I believe even with no audio this would still be the funkiest bass line out 🤘🏽
FACTS! 😍
It all starts with that left foot. It's got the time and feel locked in. Sounds beautiful.
Beginner here, what you mean by the left foot? Do you need to ground it? Tap it? Thanks ❤
Daric is one of my top 3 favorite bassists...PERIOD
One of the rawest funkiest bass players out there
that was funky, but everytime I see one of these "funkiest bassline" video it's always someone like doing runs showin off on a bass, solo, when the real funkiest shit is simple and plays right into the drum groove.
stayin alive is funky like a mf but its mad simple
Factual
Exactly. Good example of a perfect funky bass line….Give It Up by Kool & The Gang. Exactly what you described.
it’s bc funk is all abt the groove. this isn’t funk at all. it’s just virtuoso type shi. i’ve yet to hear a great funk song with a bass line like this. 😭
Agree
@@astraeusj13 👍
That WAS it, Brother. Well done. If I could play like that I’d be smiling too
Love it especially the chords pull-offs.
Lotta bass players say Michael Henderson's You are my Star ⭐ Ship is the baddest baseline or Sly Stone featuring Larry Graham Thankufalettinmebemyselfagain. Personally I like Marcus Miller's Blast it's seriously funky.
What i like the most is the feeling he puts on his playing. His face shows he is really enjoying it, from the soul. A real musician.
I can’t stop watching this! That riff just hits different. So smooth, so funky, and so BASS! I don’t know how to describe it but I don’t have to cause anyone reading this already knows what I mean. ❤ Love how his face shows that he’s enjoying it, too. Musicians that play hard because they love it just have the best facial expressions. It’s as aesthetically pleasing as what we’re hearing that we get into it like they do. ❤
That was one of the cleanest sounds from a bass I have heard
As a Self taught bass player, mainly learned to add tracks to my songs, I have always instinctively played alternating thumb and index and often wondered if it looked bad to do so. Seeing you playing reassures me a bunch. Amazing groove.
Same. I am so much more comfortable and stay in groove better using thumb and finger. I think you get slightly better attack with finger on the low E but for me it's sacrificing the groove. Just a skill to be working on I suppose
No rap, no samples, just pure talent and ❤.
I'm sure he can both handle the bass & the drums at the same time. His face can take him to Heaven.
This the funkiest ish I've ever heard.....you can actually feel the funk coming from his guitar!!!!!!.....thanks, brotha.....
Exactly!
Those smooth little pull-off sus chord moves are AWESOME! I dig his playing big time. 😌🏆
One thing I love about the bass guitar, it'll make you look and feel the Funk in dat ONE WAY!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I'm 73 years old drummer been playing close to fifty years just learning bass I hear this in my head just want go away so here I go .
U owe a New Phone screen!!! Nastiness melted the Internals!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🎵🎶🎵🎶😎
🤩
Nice one
😂
He's Good! He's reeeeaal good! I'd give just about anything for this guy to walk into the rehearsal cabin and announce he's staying. Love it!
I could listen to him play funk like that for hours. Awesome!!
I have slowed down the video to 0.25x and I am trying to learn this amazing line. You really can appreciate the arrangement at this speed!
Don't know if it was the funkiest I ever heard, but that sounded great.
That one line and light poppy changing and traveling down scales could sound good in just about and kind of music.
Such a nice funky usable piece of work.
Biggest wizard yes
Wow! I aspire to eventually be able to play bass like you but there's no substitute for raw talent and developing our own playing style. You were BORN to play this instrument my dude! Much love ❤
I've been playing Bass for over 40 yrs and even though I've found my own voice and style. I don't think I'd be able to play most of that. I wish you good luck. Bass is a fun instrument But depending on the style you play it isn't that instrument that's so easy to play like many people think.
I don't know what I like more your base plan your facial expressions you rock That instrument
Boom! Funky. I like how his expression shows he is playing from the soul.
I caught that Tom Sawyer reference! And some ghost note influence
Oh, thank you, it was driving me crazy!🤘🎸👍
Killer daric keep them coming
The part I like the best is always when the bass player make a mistake, it makes me smile😄
Well I dunno where here :-)
Idk if people can appreciate the skill required to play this, but I hope so because man. That’s the timing I practice three hours a day on guitar to find one day.
“Boom that was it” hell yeah!😂
This Man has Funk Dripping from his fingertips and if ya look at the strings it's probably Dripping still from his pouring Funk all over it!!!! I'd be willing to bet that bass still today has Funk coming from it and that's ALL it can EVER EVER be heard from it or it can be produced when played!!!! DEFINITELY a LEGEND OF FUNK THIS MAN IS!!!!!! What I wouldn't give to sit in and play along side this Man and just pick his brain and hopefully some of his Funky way his Funktashusness will make its way to my playing!!!!! Definitely an honor and privilege to hear this!!!! Thank you to whoever posted this!!!
That is funky, and man does it flow smoothly
Great Bass Player !!
So glad he’s no slapping but actually playing.
Dirt, filth, absolutely sickly bass line. Killed it
How can you not like this lol
Idk I just don't
If I close my eyes I’m watching an episode of Seinfeld 😂
As a funk-man I'm not sure if that made the "ever" list, but he's a badass bass player and that's what counts.
YES SIR!!! Funky all the way! This dude is an absolute Beast!
F-ing MONSTER! Hell yeah to the "boom, that was it"!
I remember when Token played that in South Park.
Bahahaha
Tolkien
@@salvadorarrona6815 I don’t accept that retcon.
@@ElValuador I learned much by investigating the meaning of your comment.
I learned that Token Black was renamed Tolkien Black (Tolkien, after the author of the Lord of the Rings).
I learned that “retcon” means “retroactive continuity” and what that signifies.
Thank you.
@@m.vonhollen6673 Thanks for the kind words and you’re welcome.
I don't know what the hell I just heard, but it sounded like a Master Bassist giving them strings a workout. 👏🏾
How can someone not love this?!
That was insane! 🔥🔥🔥
Totally Sick Man 🤘! I play Bass and your way better then me, Rock On!
Them chords were sweet, never heard that combination before.
Man. Make that bass line two minutes long. And I guarantee a hit. We as musician are hungry as hell to play with somebody who plays their axe and makes you want to play even better. And that bass line was it. Anywhere anytime man. Just come to south Carolina and we will get down. I'm a drummer who understands his axe from way back.
Awesome riff!
Too Smooth with it 🔥🔥🔥
He just stops any ol' where and says boom. Lol. Very skills
My new favorite bass player. Ever.
Just a fat black man having fun grooving on his bass!
I wanna be just like you when I grow up 🙏
Damn bro you aint gotta do him like that 😭
It's that a compliment?
You want to be fat?
@@__Diego__Aguilar_ if said by a skinny white guy, I think it is :)
@@callumbalhorn9373 "Fat and Funky". A compliment when referring to the "Bass Sound".
Definitely not a proper compliment. And all because of two small word's "Fat and Black". A very different comment if the "Kid" had left those two words out.
Too busy in school learning about gender and Critical Race Theory..? "Common sense is the enemy of Democracy!" (a paraphrase of what Biden sounded like this last Labor Day weekend).
Brother can you listen to Vulcan worlds by group return to forever and teach how to play the bass solo?
Stanley & RTF are King!.....R.I.P. Chick....
Nice bro 👌 fire 🔥
Those double stops are crazy
He's really feeling that groove
Gotdamm! Did not disappoint! Fucking amazing.
Sick!
Lovely to hear alll the different shades sound characters of electric bass in combination, from percussive patterns, smooth melodics to soft chord progression❤😂👍
You can tell it in his face he ain’t playing no games 🎮with that bass BASSTOWN BASSIST MATTER TOO 🏆🏆💪🏿💪🏿💯
Just got a new Bass, this is wayyyy too hot 🔥 for a beginner😄👏🏾 Let me work on Yes We Can Can 🤣😂🤣😂
Good luck with your new base. Can't wait to hear what you come up with.
Simple and groovy is just as effective as fast and technical if not better. Too many musicians aspire to wanna play fast and technical, incorporate both sides of the coin it'll demonstrate how well rounded as a bassist you are. Good luck on your Bass playing Pam and I wish you all the best, regards from someone who's played 15 years (its not quite 40 years but still enough) :)
Is there a, um, ✌️limit✌️ to how many times I can leave this on repeat? 🤩👂 Asking for a fiancee sitting in the comfy chair next to me
The strings the vibes the smile is Everything🔥🤞
Dude, please please please post another video breaking down that first lick!!!!
You can’t hold no groove if you ain’t got no pocket. So the king here has an entire wardrobe of Jnco jeans from the 90s. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻 New sub here.
You know it's funky when his face looks like he making sweet love to the bass 🤣🤣🤣🤣
DAMN....
That was definitely IT !
NEVER HEARD BASS PLAY LIKE THAT. WHO IS THIS ARTIST .....MAN
Smooth😊😫
makes me want to watch Seinfeld
Luvly and look so happy.. Music good for the soul 🙏
This tickles my brain in JUST the right way 🎉
That was like listening to B.B.KING playing bass. 🔥👍
Bass is one of the several instruments I can play and I must say,,, you sound great !🤘🤘🎸🎸 your fretting hand positioning is exactly the way it should be played and your finger picking coordination is spot on.🤘🤘🎸🎸👏👏
Gotta love the humble bragging
@@CallMeTheLitvak I just like to comment from the realm of experience on someone’s efforts and skills that are badass and recognize them for the awesomeness that they are 🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
Thumbing Dat Bass 🔊
I think the facial expressions are just as enjoyable as the bass line 🤩
😎 cool man!!
That tonee 🥶🥶🥶
Nice groove man!
Love the harmony licks!😀
Funk so good he had to close his eyes
Way to get it done brother!! Great sound great feel great chops!! You must know Jaco?! Stay blessed and keep your chops up brother!!
Jammin, bro, but more volume next time, you need to be heard!! Peace
Damn. Love the change to melodic back to funk. That was nice
Look fam ima be real I wish I didn't stop learning bass this riff has me goofy can't stop listening. Stay blessed fam
Frown worthy. GOOD LAWD!!!!
🔥🤢😩🤢🔥
I don’t think this guy knows what funk is; this fails on every level. It doesn’t give you any sense of beat or rhythm, it doesn’t outline or imply any chord changes or melody, and it doesn’t have any subtle variations to make it unique or groovy to hook into. Dude is just blasting out a fistful of notes and pull-off trills to a mostly straight rhythm. Ask yourself: after hearing this can you stomp out the rhythm or sing the melodic outline in any standalone fashion? If not then it’s not groovy or interesting in the slightest. This is the kind of stuff you hear kids play at Guitar Center.
The face of extreme concentration on that opening riff! Must have been hard on those fingers lol
The groooooooove!!! Sometimes I listen to one of your competing lesson stations, SBL, and as much as I love the dude, sometimes when she grooves I can't hear the ONE!!!
Bro is having the time of his life 🤣🤣💀 good for him
Thundercats bassline for Whats The Use is easily still the funkiest thing ill ever hear
Brotha-man knew his stuff was TIGHT! OVER AND OUT, period. 😂😂😂 I love it!!!
💀
Yes, it's music to my ears.
My man just lost in da funk, love it.
When doves cry has the funkiest bassline ever😉
