  • HAWAIʻI ISLAND - A small but notable magma intrusion at the summit of Kilauea interrupted an otherwise quiet month on the Hawaii island volcano.
The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory went into detail in its weekly Volcano Watch, published on December 17. The information in this video is from that article. A synthesized voice was utilized in the narration for this story.

I love volcanoes and I follow (when I can) the Kilauea and La Fournaise (Reunion Island) quite closely. Though they are both in the same category, they both behave so differently over the years. La Fournaise will give regular short term eruptions around 3 to 4 times a year. Kilauea will give more big and spectacular eruptions like in 2018. I love them. My dream is to see one of them in action. I have always missed the eruptions of Lafournaise.

    • @stonew1927

Why is it the Hawaii volcanologists doesnt have dynamite around the volcanoes so the lava would travel where they want the lava to go then straight into the people that lost their homes to the volcano? Blast dynamite use trenches to force the lava to the side of the island where there is no people or land to be destroyed. We have watched for long enough to let nature do what it wants to destroy people lives and homes. A simple trench could have adverted disaster.
