    They forgot to mention only one professional photographer made it there on foot early hours of the eruption. I had it all to my self most of the night. For 8 hours I watched fissures 3,4 and 5 open with violent roaring like jet engines going off as the ground split and curtains of lava flew into night sky nearly 200' high dwarfing the forest next to them.

    This red burning death magma is awesome, but I am not ashamed to say I would be afraid to be very close due to the ground caving in around me. To see an actual lava flow must be one heck of an experience.

      the skin on the outside darkens because of oxidation.

    Everybody knows not to be too close to erupting or active volcanoes. Lava rivers, lakes and fissures are a bit more tame though... besides that fissure in the video xD Those scientists knew the distance they should be at and knew when to get out.
