Coming back a few days later, all those very positive replies got a positive reaction whilst those who through their own experiences were a little more critical to what was to all intents and purposes an advert were dismissed.
Respectfully, that’s difficult to believe. Can you prove it for us? I’d also pass on McIntosh. Their quality control is much lower these days and their marketing + Marantz software problems in DACS which is what led me to return my new McIntosh and instead bought Accuphase. Their quality is second to none.
@@omgwtfpwnd I'm not a big fan of AV processors and dacs from McIntosh. Their tubes and solid amplifiers are very good and very reliable. Tubes for mid Tweeter solid state for bass drivers is very very nice. Gotta have good cables and speakers
@@iampuzzleman282 McIntosh should’ve stopped selling tubes. There is no difference. I’ve proven this in a blind ABX test. Tubes nowadays have a solid state rectifier. If you want to change the sound, use tone controls or buy another pair of speakers. Tubes are just marketing. People in Japan loved them, so that’s where most of the sales went in the 90s with McIntosh. But people are in love with visuals and that affects their experience. YMMV
Lovely speakers. While I found the cheaper lines a bit bright, I haven't heard these yet. The first gen of these are probably what made me interested in audio.
Although I'm a HUGE fan of RBH speakers (currently rocking a couple pairs of absolutely divine Status Acoustics), I also have a deep appreciation for B&W's higher end stuff. They are what got me into higher end audio to begin with. Always a joy to listen to. At least to my ears. :)
I have an older Classe integrated paired with Audio Physic Tempo 6s and it sounds phenomenal. Can't wait until I have some room to get a vinyl rig up and running for it.
I haven’t heard the signatures but tbh I prefer the top end of the D2 over the D4. Just MY preference. I can’t comment on the D3 as I haven’t heard a comparative model either.
The 2017 series has a very good quality crossover and yeah he's right the imaging and soundstage is very good but it took me a while to get mine in the right place but when you do the imagine and sounstage is detailed and spacious whether close or at distance.
I've got CDM 7 & 1NT's all around in an atoms setup driven by an outlaw amps in a treated room with several subs. Had the speakers since they came out. Don't know what I'm missing with the new ones, but I'm guessing for many the law of diminishing returns has hit a brick wall with the cost of their new stuff.
I'm in the UK and some years ago at a HI-FI show I sat in on a demo by B&W and to be honest some could strip wallpaper with a rather over prominent treble, it wasn't particularly nice treble either and I think they gained a bit of a reputation for it, some folk loved them others, including me, not so much. One man's meat is another mans poison as the saying goes, I did have a demo in a shop, same thing I'm afraid, I haven't heard any for years and now being in my mid seventies with a marked reduction in hearing higher treble they would probably be ok for me now, I'll have to go and have a listen, once with hearing aids in and again with the aids out should be interesting, Over the years I've run big Tannoy Duel Concentrics with valve amps and now use KEF UniQs,( I have a thing for point source 'speakers) because of room constraints so it's not that I'm not used to 'speakers with what could be described as a forward treble. Interesting, that's got the old grey cells interested again I'll have to do a bit of checking out, thanks for the wakeup call.
Hi...this is from your web page( In addition, an all-new bass / midrange motor system features upgraded performance from its 6.5” drive unit, ensuring both a cleaner delivery through the midrange plus more extended bass).............but yet there is No MENTION of a NEW MOTOR SYSTEM on the B&W web site for the new 805sig! .................Are you sure that there in indeed a new motor system fo the 805 sig's? Thank YOU!
i just contacted B&W directly .........This was their response,Quote" I was not able to find any reference to upgraded motors but the 805 D4 Signature speakers do feature and upgraded crossover." End quote! .......Why would you say this as it is misleading people! Would like to know why you said that in YOUR article! Thank you!
Always dreamed of owning the 801s. If Chrons didnt destroy me this is what I wouldve saved for. I wish B&W did massive raffle draws so disadvantaged people had a tiny chance of owning something like this
I have them coupled with Accupahse A75 They are the best I ever heard, and I confirm Genés saying that walls disappear, you feel like sitting in the original studio or record room. Same for power output, I never see it peaking abose 3 watts. Congrats to B&W for this piece of technology.
😊 B&W crossover downgrade even further again 801 signature model.😅 From Silver/gold downgraded further again to Alum Cap 801 signature model.😅 Making buyer very very Angry nowaday. Its time call for A Refund now.😢
It's called tradeshow coverage. UA-cam demos are misleading and not representative of what you will hear in a demo. Anyone telling you otherwise is deceiving you either deliberately or via unwillful ignorance.
I got some B&W 706 speakers and they suck. Probably cos they don't match my Audiolab 6000A amp. I build speakers and I have a theory that individual speaker impedance (on different amps) changes the sound slope radically! And maybe that's why speaker matching is so important. Why else would my bought $2000 speakers sound so muffled (on my amp in that room)? Surely they wouldn't have settled on that sound when developing the 706s. I have to wind the treble up at least 3 notches to even like the speakers at all. No treble control on my Audiolab amp though. But I don't listen to the 706s, they are reference speakers for my speaker building hobby. I just don't copy the 706 sound 100%. And it's better to only use them as a (rough) guide anyway. In that, the 706s are a great help...and my made speakers make mince meat out of the 706s (for me and that amp and that room at least). 😅
FWIW.........I bought these 805 signatures....using them with bryston 28B Cubed and Bryston BP-26 pre amp. Fantastic paring !!!

I biamp b&w with mc901 McIntosh mono amplifiers and it's quite amazing

Abbey Road Studios use CLASSE AUDIO amps to power their B&Ws. That alone should tell you how good those things are.

What are your thoughts on Accuphase?
Gene with boots on the ground, is superb!
Love it!!
Perfect pairing will be with Mcintosh MC901 Dual Mono.
Tube sections feed midranges and tweeters, solid-state sections feed woofers.
Always dreamed of owning the 801s. If Chrons didnt destroy me this is what I wouldve saved for. I wish B&W did massive raffle draws so disadvantaged people had a tiny chance of owning something like this
One day i will own this…….one glorious day, and i will never leave.
Great video!!!

..Hey Gene, just have em hook some lamp cord up between the B&W’s and the amp, I’m sure it will sound “Exactly” the same 😂
What were they using as a source and how was it connected to the PRE? I only see a laptop.
The Classe Pre has a USB-B DAC input.
I bet Gene would add a few subs and set crossover to 80hz
Best speakers ever

So this was just an advertisement for these brands....Imagine if you played the thing and we could hear it.
Demo via UA-cam is pointless.
It's called tradeshow coverage. UA-cam demos are misleading and not representative of what you will hear in a demo. Anyone telling you otherwise is deceiving you either deliberately or via unwillful ignorance.
Swolest audiophile
Jacked 💪
😂
Does Classe hide treble problems and make them listenable?
Ha ha spot on
Have you actually listened to these speakers?
Apparently bc they sounded really good. Or maybe people listened to the music and not a CTA-2034 graph.
I’ve herd these with Macintosh cd and pre ,,power amps ide say there best speakers I’ve actually herd.
