I saw a lot of airshows when I was stationed in the UK, and the Belgian pilots probably fly the F-16 better than any other country that I've ever seen, including the U.S. It's almost as if they're studying the Falcon when they're in grade school, and are ready to jump in and fly once they reach adulthood! Damn good pilots!
The french pilots actually benefited from the Belgian Alphajets based at Casaux. As the Belgian A-jets had several updates the french aircraft didn't have. Updates added a HUD (head-up display) and extended navigation and weapon support (Totem3000). Belgian pilots proved their effectiveness in Libia, having the biggest accuracy of all participating countries. (the flew 448 mission with an accuracy of 97%)
U guys can ride the F-16 really good I I could especially say that I’m retired from the us airforce (E9) (CMCgt) wasn’t great riding the F-16 I could say was a great experience for me! Hope you guys a great 2020!
Absolute spectacular, absolute skillful!! I saw the Belgian F-16 SoloDemo at Kecskemét in 2008, that was awesome!! I hope I will see this display more and more!!
@szelle63 During the initial development of the F16, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Denmark were also involved. As a result, the Belgian F16's were all assembled in Belgium. The engines for example of the European F16s were built by FN, They even produced a few planes for the US air force.
@longsweep1 Belguim used to be a costumer with dassault, They used the mirage V and the F-104 from lockheed . Both were followed by the F-16. The mirage V's were sold to Chili, but as far as I know they don't use them anymore. Hope belguim buys mirage again. Those delta's have a nice angle of attack when coming in for a landing. :D
@TPS996 That's why it has been in world wide service in more than 20 countries for over 30 years. The plane has proven itself in several large conflicts (Balkan, Irac, ...) . And don't forget that the plane has been updated and is still being produced today...
@TPS996 depends on what you are looking for in a fighter. Sure, the F16 may not have Supercruise and all that, but it is still a very maneuverable fighter and has a relatively less operating cost. Not to mention this is now nearly 30 years old!
You were trying to say that Belgian pilots fly the F-16 better because they seem to have less flight restrictions. That makes sense. I guess the only way to compare them with other pilots would be to give these pilots less flight restrictions as well. Same conditions. Don't get me wrong, I really like Belgian pilots. They're great. As well as, for example, Sheik in UA-cam's "Smoke on III - RNLAF Solo Display Team". The amount of effort they have to put in is incredible. Respect.
We bought like 106 mirage 5's, but all of them were decomissioned in the early 2000's. I'm not quite sure, but I think the mirages you see here, are french (color scheme) and I'd say they're mirage 2000's. Belgian mirages used to have a green/brown color scheme.
Nope, the total order existed out of 160 aircraft. A first batch of 96 F16A's and 20 F16B's. Later on there was a follow-up batch of 44 aircraft. The number of 216 aircraft is the order the Dutch air force placed, if I'm not mistaken.
@PROWINGinternational Yeah but i was also wondering why that flotation thing was not attached somehow to his chest, it kept moving up and seemed to get in his way. Anyway, great video, thx.
In the early years of the F-16 Belgian had the biggest fleet of F-16 Don't know the exact numbers today. But the first oders were (August 8 1977) Belguim: 116 Denmark: 58 Norway: 72 The Netherlands: 102 58 of the 348 ordered planes were to be 2-seaters. The first European F-16 flew for the Belgian line ( SABCA ) More info see this video: watch?v=1YHnWp_ESlc
Skilled aviators, to be sure. I've watched quite a few duels between Greek, and Turk Pilots. Greece always seems to get the best of them. And besides, I love the Greek AF for continuing to fly the A-7. Love that jet!
Training on Alpha Jet is done in France since a couple of years, mostly for cost effectiveness and practical organization (the French also use Alpha Jets for training purposes). I agree when you say French pilots are skilled airmen, but the quality of Belgian pilots is not a result of French influence. Dozens of our pilots learned their skills right here in Belgium.
Lol, yeah, that's right, I forgot about Sheik! One helluva aviator, there. Awesome display, I've watched it a few times, myself. Yes, without a doubt, airshows in Europe have better performances, because of less restrictions, just as you said. I was in the USAF stationed at RAF Lakenheath, UK for 3 years, and got to see some really incredible aircraft and shows that I would probably never see at home in the USA. Respect, to you, sir! Take it easy.
@szelle63 the US does not let anyone make their planes under licence maybe siuth korea only. they cost about $16 mil. but the f35s will cpst 130 mil. at the same time europe does have some domestic producesd fighters like grippen or rafale or the eurofighter but ,ost buy US military technology.
@Mike Breen, At our ops in Kandahar we have the highest standing record of succesfully flown operations, which is about 97.5% at the moment... When I was there we had 99% succesfull sorties in our rotation of 4 months, so please shut up about stuff you know nothing about...
Of course. I don't diminish any F-16 pilot's skills, of any nation. In the great many airshows I've seen from more than a few countrys, the Belgians (during the course of an exibition) do a lot more with their aircraft, that any other country that I've seen fly. Maybe their flight restrictions are less than others. That's all I'm saying. People are people, and an F-16 is an F-16. The DNA is the same. Oh, and I'm not from Belgium, if that's what you were thinking.
Every F-16 demo pilot is pushing himself and the aircraft to the limit. With all due respect, I don't see why Belgian pilots should do a better job at that than pilots from any other country. There is no logical reason to think so. To me all these pilots deserve the same amount of respect, regardless of the country they're from. They're all damn good pilots.

fantastic video! Way to put that Falcon through its paces.
USAF Retired.

As usual I have enjoyed this to the max !!
Thumb up from The Netherlands.
😎
Amazing and awesome. Cockpit views from Pilot prospective was stunning ! :-)
Well done ! :)
This pilot has just joined the USAF as instructor ! Good luck and thanks for taking the Belgian Pride in USA
Absolute spectacular, absolute skillful!! I saw the Belgian F-16 SoloDemo at Kecskemét in 2008, that was awesome!! I hope I will see this display more and more!!

Nice vid - liked the cockpit footage. One of the best landings I've ever seen by a Viper driver

great flying
Why did you cut the landing off? It was one of the smoothest landings I've ever seen!
Skilled aviators, to be sure. I've watched quite a few duels between Greek, and Turk Pilots. Greece always seems to get the best of them. And besides, I love the Greek AF for continuing to fly the A-7. Love that jet!
the solider of the future is a f-16 on legs ..ghost recon future solider
Vous avez quelle version du AIM-120 AMRAAM ???

@ilovebrasilful so European nations don't make their own fighters? also do you know how much these cost?
@fushheads actually belgium has a great air force.
Florennes AB runway 09-27!!!!!!!

why did the pilot raise his hands in 0:43?
@tazzicek .. sure you do.

Not a big fan of the jet, but the POV was great.
anyone knows e meaning of e hand signals b4 he taxi-ed out?
why must they put their hands up at 0.41?
I love the army, I love the infantry, but Ive always wanted to fly...
@szelle63 only the Us can make planes like these.

Thanks guy ^^
@PROWINGinternational On what base in Belgium did he take off?
Nice vid!
They deleted the part where he strafes and then bombs Luxembourg
1:47 Best view ever seen in f-16 clips :
what airport is this
good
@Aviation2001 they only have 1 engine :p
I know that the Belgian Demo-Pilots are supposed to be one of the best of the world... without a doubt... :)
Do European countries buy these from the US, or do they have manufacturing rights to them?
@Aviation2001 you serious?
Greatest job in the world....
nice

Of course the are good pilots!!!But take a look at the Hellenic ones...
OMG he's god!!!! saw him today at Danish Air Show in Skrydstrup !!!!!! it was awsome!
Song used after 1:30 ????!!!
lol and thinking about it that belgium placed a first order of 216 f-16 :)
that can be because belgium uses the F16 since they were imported :p
i like the part when the pilot give hand signals..

I felt the g-turns while sitting in my chair!
belgium f 16 fighters, ever done a real air battle?
