A good G-Eazy video and now Porter Robinson reviews! Thats a sub, you have a good music taste.
Personally, I really love smile. Im glad porter can be super emotional on his tracks and has the courage to break down these walls and feel more free to express himself in his music because its a genuine, empowering, and freeing feeling.
I really absolutely love Mona Lisa and Perfect Pinterest Garden. Coming from a worlds fan the production on these tracks are so beautiful and layered perfectly. There really is not a bad song on this album, I could listen to the whole thing. I especially do like his first 3 released singles as well. The rest are decent. How the music video for Easier to love you plays out is just beautiful and the lyrics are so meaningful. I cant wait to go to his concert. I think this album is a 10/10 for me. Its new and fresh and meaningful, and even though some parts are repetitive and it was a little hard to get used to the style, after playing through the tracks a few times and really paying attention to every detail that was mixed, it is a very good album.
I think if anyone is able to take the time to listen to them, they will enjoy it. Defiantly newer territory for porter and im glad to see he is branching out.
When you said that even though hes been in the game for so long yet it feels like were just getting started, I feel the exact same way especially when looking through his history. Growing up with him since I was 9 years old listening to worlds just feels amazing and I guarantee his fans will stick around him for a long time because of it. Porter defiantly will have a good extensive history and I really can't wait to see where he goes next. Especially with the people he collaborates with. Coming from Kontinuum and his relationship with Madeon to Madeons relation with Porter and Porters relation to other artists, I think its amazing the influence these communities have on each-other.

@n0stal6ic thank you so much for the comment and the sub! Worlds is one of my favorite albums of all time and I love how it really expanded and fleshed out the EDM sound at the time, made it so much more of an album experience. This detour is really great especially for his longevity and I really hope he keeps experimenting 🔥🔥🔥

@@snowchild9837 NP! Really happy to see the album reviews. I added a bit more to my comment as well.
Worlds was brilliant. Even his older stuff including Spitfire. Too bad I was basically a baby (7) when it all came out, but im glad I got the chance to grow up in that environment on the internet. I know porter is trying his best to distance himself from the EDM scene but he really was in it completely at the time.
Also super excited to see where he goes with it too. Cant wait!

Lil Wayne was being grilled over his Lean addiction in the interview, and Porter is relating that to him losing his cool and possibly alcoholism.

@@snowchild9837 Of course! I love that song, and while I don't always want to listen to the lil wayne parts, I do think that they make a lot of sense considering the theme of the song being about how negative habits or character traits can actually be helpful creatively.

Yeah, Porter has discussed how he used to get really drunk just to be on stage, and there was a real wakeup call moment that got him to stop. Between that, and the times he's lashed out at his audience in the past, I think that's what the song's about.

to answer your thumbnail right off the bat: yes. i think it's a mixed bag but with each album he's finding his voice. my favorite will still always be nurture though.

@oxlip Fair I think Nurture is becoming my favorite one but I do really like that Porter is expanding into different sounds and I think this album was a very good attempt at that.

@@snowchild9837 100%, the worst thing we can do to a brilliant creative mind like porter is pigeonhole him and demand he makes tracks that he doesn't resonate with. the quality on this album hasn't gone down a bit, i'm just more of a production guy than a songwriting guy, but i do have to say that i love cheerleader.

@oxlip All good I understand. I think Nurture is one of the best produced albums of the decade so to go to something more rock oriented and more stripped back was something I had to get used to as well.
Is There Really No Happiness and Cheerleader are definitely the closest in their sound to the old songs for sure.
