The turret front should have improved protection against KE. The entire pourpose of the wedges is to make APFSDS tumble, thats why they are hollow
I suspect that would only work against a certain generation of APFSDS tho, so it might be hard to model in game to apply only to some and not others
They aren't hollow on Canadians though. It's all spacemagic and guesstimations about the effectiveness of German beaks, but here it's just light NERA, so no tumbling/eroding magic.

Ariete's WAR kit is 5 tons of composite meant to protect vs KE and gaijin decided to make it add only 11mm of KE protection
and its a premium that most german mains are unlikely to use anyways because it isnt even properly german

@@KOTEL___the dev server got updated today, as far as I know the leopard is now considered finished, it has terrible armor. Sadly it looks like the snail just lied about the armor.

@@dailyisdeadyou are right in that it was updated but I find it odd they dialed the front add on from 100m to 10 so let’s hope it’s just a stop gap until a proper change but you can never expect competence or accuracy from gaijin anyways

The 2A4M is essentially a glass cannon, it's fair enough. It's perfect for sniping, I wish it could be more than that with better KE protection. It was put together for Afghanistan, so I guess the armour values make sense to a degree with the focus on CE protection and IED protection. We'll never truly know, not endless some idiot leaks some classified material.
It's supposed to be a 2a4 with protection level equal to a 2a7
@@xavsul9108 You're gonna take Gaijin's word, seriously? I took what they said with a grain of salt, having Leopard 2A7 levels of protection is outside of what the 2A4M was put together for. If we wanted a 2A7 we would've just upgraded the 2A6s, I'd just wait for the 2A6M if you want a more survivable Canadian leopard.
It should also have DM53 not KE-W, the object 292 can fire 152mm APFSDS that is virtually better than DM53 at 10.3...
@@RealOny Yeah, I never understood why KE-W was being used and it should change. I think it's just cause gaijin doesn't wanna make it 11.7, but does it really matter when we'll get 12.0+ premiums in the future? Silly Gaijin.
@@AXIOSGOD from the source I've got about the 2a4M it's supposed to be close to a 2a6M which is the equivalent to the 2a7
So add-on armor on the sides and extra composite inside the tank on the side just like the strv, spall liner and composite screen on the turret cheeks just like all the leopards after the 2a4
Plus it fired DM 53
In war thunder we have none of that
It's essentially worse than other leopards at the same br in terms of fire power( not by much) and protection
But the tank isn't that bad but it's sad that we get tanks that are half finished or entirely ahistorical
Just look at the vextra 105
It fires an 8.7 round at 9.7 ofl 105 F1
That shell is just better than dm 23 but worse than dm 33 and most 9.0 light tanks have dm 33
at the same br you have the ZLT a Chinese light tank with a round that has almost 500 mm of pen at 9.7
That's more pen than 3bm42 but that tank isn't really good anyway and is worse than the vextra in many other aspects like mobility but the ZLT excel at being a tank destroyer with a pretty diverse selection of shell and can fire atgms to deal with tanks that have good armor
Vextra has none of that and form what I can see has the worse performing 105 round at 9.7 for light tanks
This update was disappointing in the most part for ground and for air at a certain extent
for such a good looking tank its armour is just 😭
what do you expect, if you make it A5 level then it has to go to 11.7, this is still better than the A4 I recon

@@hereisaname8567 that is ok, what do you expect it to be, A5 level? Then it would have to go to 11.7 - at 11.3 it means it WILL fight 10.3 a lot, and nothing on 10.3 would be able to defeat it anywhere from the front. Look at the AIM for example, the hull is also pretty weak - what matters is that it has the KEK-W round, a bit better turret than the A4 and thermals.

@@ghost963cz I'm not saying that it shld be at the 2a5's level, honestly it's not like that would make that much of a difference (even m829a1 can cut through the 2a5's hull like butter), but the turret atm is incredibly weak especially when compared to something like a 2pl at the same br. Honestly tho no matter what kind of armour it has it will still be ok, you really can't go wrong with gen 3 thermals and KE-W

To be fair watching simulation videos of Kontakt-5 ERA against real shells like DM53 is very impressive
Edit: I meant Relikt, that's the big one meant to work against KE, kontakt is smaller bricks

no matter if the turret cant tank DM33, many will see this and think on 2a5 or others right away and would not shoot cheeks anyway
People are dumb and still shoot the wedges. Turret wiggle is also a thing and you can dodge /catch apfsds with the wedges on long range that was meant to hit your breach. This being anything above 10.7/11.0 is laughable.
@@touchgrass7834 nah, saying this should not be above 10.7 is pretty insane.. almost 600mm pen, gen 3 thermals on everything. mobility and still better armor then type 90.
@@boomcat1337 well there are premiums at 11.0 for example the ram segol which have top tier shells and are very similar to their 11.7 counterparts. It not only lacks the turret armour, the hull armour is also not on par with the current top tier. But that's a debate wether or not the 2a5 and 2a7 should be at the same br. I just don't think that we were give what was advertised and gaijin scammed many people with preorders by saying "2a7 armour". It's scummy and people were at least expecting a funktional turret.

@@boomcat1337 I personally think the Fuji with its quick reload and still very ok round can work at any br you put it at. It reloads so quickly that if you shoot the gunner and the commander takes over the enemy can't shoot back because your reload is faster than commander override+ let's say turning turret by 90°. It's really fun to play and I personally prefer it. The 2a4m has better thermals and a (far) better round than the 2a4s. The armour just isn't there which is bad because that is what the noobs are gonna rely on that bought the vehicle. They won't be getting anything much better than the 2a4 in that aspect.

Not bad for a sniper like tank. Hit and run behind hills doesn't require any armor after all. In my experience kinetic rounds with 480mm penetration + rangefinder are good enough to destroy any enemy from the front, so, 580mm is very good.

I don't see how this could be final. No armor apart from ERA should provide 300mm of CE protection and only 10mm of KE protection. The devblog itself stated the addon armor was equivalent to the 2a7v's addon armor, so I think that we need to wait a little bit longer and gaijin will likely give the kinetic protection a boost.
Bet the barracuda camo net won't protect against thermals.

I'm fine when the vehicle, although largely Copy-paste, changes the gameplay, like the AVRE, although it's more of a Churchill, its gameplay will be very different, but in these cases like the next T-80 premium or this new Leo2 premium is just to take money from people who want to see and use the tanks used by their own nations in the game, I mean, at least this premium Leo2 has this "excuse" to exist, the T-80U "3.0" doesn't

아직 구현 안된거 아니었나요? 2a7 장갑재를 받았다고 되어있고 실제 차량도 2a7급 장갑개량을 받아서 C형 장갑재 이상일텐데 뭔가 이상하네요.
공지의 설명에도 전면에서 만나는 대부분의 물리탄과 대전차 미사일을 막을 수 있을 것이다 라고 적어놨는데 좀 의아합니다.
What I don't get is why it's in the German tree. The Canadian ADATS is in Britain - this just means a Canadian top-tier lineup is impossible because it's split between multiple trees. I'd assume any Canadian F-18 is probably going to go to America, too. I already had that thought when the M1A1 AIM went to America, that separates it from the Australian aircraft & tanks in the early British tree too. A bit of sub-tree consistency would be nice

먼가 살짝 10식 비스무리한 느낌이 없잖아 있다. 10식만큼 장갑이 얇진 않지만 물리탄 상대로는 기대해선 안 되고 대신 사통장치가 좋고 한 점이 먼가 10식 비스무리함. 벨런스가 좀 잡혀있긴 하네요. 장갑은 기대 안하거나 물장인데 사통장치가 좋고 포가 쓸만하면 보통 기동성이 좋아서 경전차 굴리듯이 가능한데 얘는 속도가 느려서 그게 좀 문제네요. 속도를 빼고 장갑을 얻으면 전선에서 정면에서 맞다이 까는 용으로 쓰일 수 있고 반대면 경전차 굴리듯이 해서 저격이나 우회하면 되는데 속도도 느려서 우회기동은 먼가 애매하고 정면 맞다이 까기에는 화학탄 말고는 물리탄엔 잼병이고 저격이나 위장을 이용해서 매복하는 방법 외엔 답이 없을 듯 싶네요. 아니면 선빵을 잘 때리던가.
