yeah, they should have overdubbed 1 dialogue line in post-production "Come on, Leia" Problem solved.

The princess can take care of herself. Also, he does help her get her balance.
0:20, When unexpected, it’s like a jumpscare. I can tell this scene must have scared the crap out of the people that first watched The Empire Strikes Back.
It is a jump scare! It isn't just horror films that use them. And this isn't even the only scene in the movie to have one (remember Vader jumping out of the shadows at Luke in the climax?).
Scared the fuck out of me when I saw it on VCR. That and the dianoga in A New Hope (the monster in the trash compactor). The creature here is a mynock and they are basically the equivalent of a raccoon...except that they can fly lol
For me I just got scared the crap out of me in the return of the Jedi I use to be scared of the poor gonk droid getting his feet burn and (do u know about r2d2 and c3po meeting of torture driods that was pain and ev 9d9)
I love this scene mainly because Han, Chewie, and C-3PO don't think that Leia is feeling pressured or stressed and is hearing things because of it, they believe her warning. It's also immediately confirmed for them when they hear those noises the mynocks are making!
And I’m guessing the roar belongs to the exogorth
Fun fact: exogorths like to eat mynocks. That’s why its stomach is full of them.

If any of those Tie Fighters got over the hole in the bid asteroid where Han, Chewbacca, Leia & C-3PO were hiding in, that huge space slug would've eaten them. If a Star Destroyer had gotten over it, all those Imperial Troops on it would've gotten so scared.

I find it funny that they think they're in a cave in an asteroid and all they grab to exit the ship to enter the cold vacuum of space is a small face mask so they can breath.
Probably because they are not in the vacuum of Space, but deep inside the stomach of a hibernating monster. It is presumed that they would know what the atmospheric conditions would be outside, because sensors, and the ships computers inside the Falcon, would tell them.
@@davidjoe3368 but that's just it. They didn't know they were in the belly of a beast. They thought they were in a cave in an asteroid floating in space (thus they would have been in the cold vacuum of space if they weren't in a beast's belly). If any sensors in the falcon gave them unusual readings for the inside of a cave that should have triggered that something was amiss.
@@jesssss7154 I think it is safe to say, that in a ship as advanced as the Falcon would have to be, to travel light speed, it is safe to assume that the falcons outer doors would not even open, unless the environment was safe outside to begin with. I totally understand what you are saying about them not knowing they were inside of a creature, but all they had to know is, was the environment outside the Falcon safe for them to explore. And since the ships outer doors opened, it was safe. In other words the ship would make the decision based on the outer atmosphere for them. All they had to do was try to open the outer door, if it opened, they were safe outside, if it did not open, then they would have to suit up. If the Falcon was real, it would have to have that kind of technology, or the crew would not last long.
@@davidjoe3368 I think you're missing the point. The fact remains that they thought they were just inside a cave in an asteroid. Whether or not the falcon was equipped with any kind of sensor array or if it was working properly it didn't dawn on any of the crew there would be something amiss with them being able to venture out in the first place without any kind of space suit.
@@jesssss7154 I think most of us did not even notice that good point when the Movie first came out. Looking at it now, your right, it is an odd point that they did not question how it could be possible that they were able to go outside the Falcon without any protection beyond a mere mask, being they were inside of a meteor with no atmosphere. I am assuming that when Leia saw the Minock, and she alerted Han, that Lucas may have assumed that that was good enough, in other words, if the Minock could be outside, then so could everyone in the Falcon. I find it odd that even George Lucas did not notice the lack of curiosity, of the Characters in the Movie! For whatever reason, Lucas either did not notice this in the scene, or he did not feel it was important enough for the Characters to pay attention to it, probably because it could have slowed down the pace of the story. And if there is one thing George Lucas understood, is the criticality of not allowing scenes to drag on to long to maintain the Audiences attention. I can only assume, that that, was what it was.
